USA is the strongest nation in the world in 2021 and has been the most powerful nation in the world since 1945. How much longer will the US be on top? I know China is rising, but they are still far behind the US in military, alliances, technology, and soft power through music, movies, TV shows,, companies, internet sites etc. Plus China is facing an impending demographic problem. I think the US has at least a couple more decades at the top. And while the US like all nations in our position has made mistakes, the US based world order after WW2 has seen liberal democracies flourish and the quality of life of the average human being rise like never before, and the most peaceful, prosperous 75-80 year period in history. I know it seems like the time after WW2 has had tons of war, famine, violence, disasters etc, and it has, but compared to all of human history, things have never been this good. I don't have anything against the Chinese people, in fact I am half Chinese in heritage myself, and am proud of the culture, but the Chinese government is authoritarian and anti democratic, which is why I want the US to stay the most powerful and influential nation in the world for as long as possible. Maybe until the 2040s? If that is the case, the US would have had a great run as the most powerful nation in the world, from the 1940s to the 2040s, 100 years. What do you think?

Reminds me of how some famous composers hated some of their creations yet today those very songs are among their most popular ones. All I know is there were rumors at the time Pat didn't like what he was seeing and was recording it in his diary. The diary went missing. 3 tightly grouped rounds from 10 yards. Hard to believe a ranger is making that mistake. Maybe it's as simple and bad as that but they didn't want that guy talking. He was bigger than the NFL at that point.

As a former Marine and NFL fan, at that time, Cpl. Tillman was a huge inspiration for me. I tried to re-enlist because of him only to be discouraged by the 'Powers That Be'. The same military that carried out this injustice would not let me back in to do what I thought every able bodied American should feel obligated to do. I'm embarrassed by the way they handled everything and I wonder if we'll ever know the whole truth about what happened to Cpl. Tillman (Captain America). Semper Fi!

I watched this entire video. As a US Navy veteran and a fan of Pat when he played football, it hit hard when he died of wounds in the manner that he did. Yes, I admit that I shed tears, tears if hurt and sadness for what his family had to endure through all of this and I know that it is not over yet.

Of course I watched the whole thing. I was never in the military, but I remember the player even though I wasn’t big into football at the time anymore, I remember him because I was blown away that he would choose the military in the midst of a burgeoning career in the NFL. I bought into the storyline when he enlisted...and I paid close attention to the story that unfolded following his death and what had to be absolutely heart wrenching news to his family of how he truly died and that the military lied not only to the nation that supported them, but to the mans own family. This is one of those stories you just don’t forget about as you get older. I was 30 in 2004, and I remember all of this happening easily. You don’t need a good memory for stories you encounter in life that really hit you when they happen. It was terribly shameful, but does not take away from the mark that Pat Tillman himself made on the lives of many...instead it kind of opened a lot of eyes to just how shameful a government can be in covering their own ass.

This is how our government here sometimes operates. Many years ago in the Red Sea during Desert Shield/Desert Storm, the ship (not to be named here) I was on had a blowback from the breech of a 5" .54 gun mount caused because someone (to be un-named here) neglected to properly complete the pre-fire checks. Later, in the ward room there was a meeting of all Officers and Chiefs onboard, our X.O. made the following statement; The first thing we need to do is see how we can lessen the impact and if that doesn't work, find someone to place the blame on. Immediately the C.O. said, "Shut the fuck X.O., if anyone is to blame, it's me." As it should have been. Our skipper was not about to throw anyone in his crew under the bus. Great Shipper!

Pat was a true American hero. I Lived in Arizona at the time. I followed his collegiate football career. He was an underdog to even make the NFL. When he did, he thrived. Pat had the world by the balls and gave it up for his country. Although our government struggles to be respectable in anyway, Pat truly exemplifies the best of our true American spirit. I'm from Az and he graduated college when I was graduating high school. Watched him play at ASU. He was an amazing person. Have meet his father after the incident and death. Without making a scene I just shook his hand and said thank you for your son, sorry about your loss!

Allejandro Villanueva is also a Veteran, and plays in the NFL. He often talks about Tillman. Tillman gave up everything for nothing. I myself am a Veteran, with a Top Secret clearance... I can tell you, there is more to this, and it will never be revealed. Tillman was a true patriot, and a very humble person.

Like you said, many brave men and women have died. Very few have left what he had in front of him of him on the table. Making the decision to join the military is a massive decision in itself. It's easy to say ppl would walk away from the money but it's not line it's just was handed to him. Even the HOF Caliber players of any sport bust their ass for that chance. Hard to imagine working that hard that long for that and then just walking away. Speaks to a level of character most of us can't even imagine.

A little late commenting here. As a former Army Soldier, I can tell you that CPL Tillman is absolutely revered as a true American hero. He stood for everything good through his courage, duty to country, and Valor. I live in Arizona as well. Most Americans think of him as exactly what was said, a Soldier who happened to play football. He will be forever missed.

Pat Tillman was an amazing football player. He went to the rival school of my current High School (Pioneer High School)! My grandparents did end up attending his funeral which was held at the Rose Garden in San Jose California! You should see how emotional my grandfather gets when talking about him because at one point in time he was friends with the Tillman family. R.I.P Pat Tillman!

He is a true hero and warrior and has the respect of all of America. I had the honor and privilege to visit his most important statue in Afghanistan and it is covered in respect from his fellow military brothers and sisters he is truly missed. I'm a U.S. Army Veteran of the Gulf War and I'm currently a member of the Fargo Memorial Honor Guard. Our organization provides the 3 Volley Salute for all U.S. Military Veterans interned at Fargo National Cemetery. Giving Veterans their final honors is such a profound privilege. Greetings commando. I was an infantryman in the US Army from 2006 to 2013 with two combat deployments. I’ve known soldiers that all claim that Tillman was hated by everyone he came across during his military career and his death was intentional. I personally regard the man as a hero and one of the reasons I enlisted but just relaying some intel I heard throughout my career

My first memory of Pat Tillman was how he single handedly made it cool for a generation of football players to have long hair, myself included. I can remember being in the football office in college when I learned he had been killed in action. My only reply was, "that sucks." He was a true patriot.

I still tear up every time I hear a Pat Tillman story. It seems like fiction. You couldn't create a better example of a hero with a pen, paper and imagination. He represented the best of America and tragically, his death revealed the worst of America. Lies, propaganda and scandal to save face rather than just an honest but painful truth. I went to Arizona State and watched Pat play football for the Sun Devils and the Arizona Cardinals! I remember when he enlisted and left a multi-million dollar contract to go to Army boot camp! He then tried out for the Army Rangers and became one of the very elite American Warriors! Pat was the most heroic person I have ever known in my life! He gave up an incredible lifestyle and career to serve his Country which separates him from most humans walking the face of the earth! I have nothing but admiration and respect for Pat Tillman!

In the army we have leadership, or ldrship. Loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, personal courage. Integrity and selfless service were the two that I took more seriously than others. Also, Tillman didn't talk to any media and wasn't about the "glory", but everybody knew he was and what he did. The Tillman Foundation helps keep Pat's spirit alive. I'm here in AZ where Pat went to college and played in the NFL. There just happens to currently be a petition for the NFL to permanently retire the #40 jersey for every single team in the league to honor Tillman (meaning *nobody* else could ever use it).
