Hi Greg, I'm happy to have added you and getting to see your work during this Patagonia Workshop series. Now that the workshop is done and everyone has moved on, what are your plans for a next adventure? Steve in San Diego, CA
@gregorsnell6 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve, good question. I work as a freelance video producer in Europe. My girlfriend and I are completely nomadic and travel between jobs, right now we're in Austria before the next gig with a municipal region in the Southern Alps of Germany. Our summer is more or less scheduled travel and work wise, but I'm planning on making a couple videos to introduce her and our lives here in Europe. Will be nice to try and retain these new view numbers and subscribers. Glad you're on board and cheers from Vienna!!

Thanks Tim!! I want to try and be as transparent as possible with these Vlogs. To share exactly what my work is, how I get it, what I do on assignment, and what the expected results are. Not sure how much attention that'll grab on YT, but I like the idea and it'll keep my channel on track.

Loving your vlogs Greg. You 3 are an absolute dream team 😚 it's great to see the fun side all you guys are having! So it was Tom who locked you out first eh? 😜 Nice one when you got him back 😂 Really interesting to hear all about your role out there &the filing of everything sounds really hard work. But I'm not that tech & you're all tech wizards! Cool! That Patagonia landscape really blows my mind, breathtaking scenery & I love that you can get all 4 seasons in one day! ( not so much fun when travelling I guess though! ) But weather certainly adds different dimensions 😊 Hope your subs get to 10K , you deserve it !
@gregorsnell6 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Debbie!! Yeah that car locking joke was such a good one. Too much fun!! The weather down there is crazy and we love it. Keeps things interesting. My goal is still 10k subs on the year, so fingers crossed we make it eh :)

Great work again! Impressing that you manage to keep up with everything and still giving off this fantastic energy and your own vlogs!! Do you shot in 1080 or 4k and if the shots are captured in log, who is color grading it all? I think I know the answear but I’m still not sure.. 😉
@gregorsnell6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Patric!! Yeah it's a bit hectic, but we love it!! I genuinely shoot 4K 30fps in CineLikeD profile with a slight colour correct in post. For the Patagonia workshop though I shot 1080p with a Standard Panasonic white balance setting and no correction in post. Honestly when you're creating this quickly, it's better to keep things simple.

Loved this video. All the little unscripted moments you captured made me feel like I was there with you. Great editing too. For vlogging do you use the GH5 AF on face-detection or 1-area mode? Thanks for sharing your content!
@gregorsnell6 жыл бұрын
Hiya!! Thanks :) they are super fun to make. Yes I use the GH5 in the 1-area and have it take up around 3/4 of the frame dead center. Overall though I'm not too happy with the GH5 auto focus, it's a slight disadvantage compared to other camera bodies in the same range. I vlog with the 7-14 f4.
@rasicaphoto64506 жыл бұрын
Great work Greg! You seem to have a lot of work to do in Patagonia. I do not know which lens you used when focus stacking, did you have problems with focus breathing when blending images?
@gregorsnell6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rasica!! I made that image with the Canon 16-35 2.8. Not exactly sure what you mean by focus breathing... so I'll say, I don't think so ;)
@rasicaphoto64506 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for fast reply! Focus breathing or lens breathing is shifting the angle of view when you change the focus. This can make the problem in Photoshop when merging files. Some lenses have this phenomenon more or less pronounced. I'm researching which Canon wide lenses are best for focus stacking.
@gregorsnell6 жыл бұрын
Learn something new everyday :) thanks!! Yeah the 16-35 seems okay but admittedly I haven't done enough focus stacking edits to know properly. Sounds like you're on the right path though!!
@rasicaphoto64506 жыл бұрын
I currently use 16-35 F4 L IS, and besides all excellent characteristics, there is a pretty obvious focus breathing. Despite my great experience in PS, it makes me big problems and takes time that blending is done properly. I do not know how is on this point newest 16-35 F2.8 L Mark III (though I should change the filters, and it's pretty heavy). And yes, photographer learns while he is alive :)
@gregorsnell6 жыл бұрын
I've heard only good things about the 16-35 F2.8 L Mark III. My guess is it probably fixes the focus breathing you're seeing with the F4. Maybe you can rent it from a local dealer to test it out...?
