I was in this movie , saw more stand up in between takes than I'd see in a lifetime of watching him on TV..he was a kind and sincere man . We shot most of the college scenes in chapel Hill n.c I still have photos of the set

I was an extra in this movie as well. Mostly in the dorm hallway scene. I remember some of these bloopers well.

I know a guy that moved out to Hollywood a long time ago with elaborate dreams of one day making it big. That didn't happen, but he did get to work on a few films. As a member of a crew once on a Robin Williams film, he had one of the low "menial" jobs on set. He said that Robin was always doing what he could to make others laugh. He'd tell jokes, do physical humor, he just loved to make people smile. He said that Robin would talk to everyone and was so nice to everyone, but what impressed him the most was this... He said that one day he had sort of a bad day because he put something where it didn't belong and the guy ahead of him had yelled at him. He felt really bad about it and it sorta put him in his own world. When Robin was goofing off on set, making everyone else laugh, he wasn't laughing because he wasn't really paying attention to what Robin was saying. That's when Robin pointed at him and then said a in good humor joke. He said it made him laugh and Robin made eye contact with him and smiled. He said he knew that Robin could tell that something was bothering him and he went out of his way to make him laugh. That's who Robin Williams will always be to me. The guy that wanted to make everyone smile. Not sure his fellow top notch actors. Not just the director, but everyone, including the guy who simply carried the cables and wires for the camera.

Its so great seeing both Philip and Robin having such a good time during the making of this film. Its tragic how both of their lives ended.

The movie sucked too. Triple unhappiness.

I love Philip Seymour Hoffman but he died of an overdose of medications and heroin, Robin died because he was lost and afraid of what he had inside of his brain that no doctor could detect. Both tragic deaths but different reasons.

My mother was a nurse and part of her career she was a teacher for CNA(Certified Nurse Assistant) classes. She would offer an extra credit assignment for her students to watch Patch Adams and write an essay on what they learned about patient empathy.

@@ChristopherKnN I know the man himself wasn't happy about the movie, but I'd rather they take a lesson from this movie than being how so many of them actually behave. I get it it's a hard job and they can't get too attached to all the misery, but I watched them yelling at a fellow patient for not walking fast enough to the bathroom after he had woken up after surgery with both legs broken. The reason for the yelling? It took away from their precious time with their phones. That isn't even close to being the worst thing I could mention.
@ChristopherKnN2 жыл бұрын
@@dcworld4349 I see the same type of behavior frequently. From the doctors and fellow nurses. Many doctors get upset when we interrupt them. At least with peers we can point out the behavior. It always reminds me of a joke I heard many many years ago. What do you call the doctor that graduated last in their class? Doctor.

I love when someone who thinks in terms of laughter gets overcome by laughter themselves. It was always a treat to see that happen to Robin. There’s an episode of Johnny Carson with Robin and Jonathan Winters where several times Robin just busts a gut at what Jonathan said but my favorite is an interview he did with Craig Ferguson just a few short years before he left us. There’s a couple of times where Craig says something that completely takes him by surprise and his laughter is so genuine while his eyes light up.

I never knew how anyone could work with Robin Williams without having a heart attack because they laughed so much during filming and between takes. Between him and Billy Connolly it would be a nightmare to keep a straight face. Probably some actors worse nightmare would be to work with both Robin and Billy in the same production you would barely get any work done and have a permanent sore stomach from constant laughing at those two clowns. It is a damn shame Robin has gone. 🇦🇺😷😷

I was an RN at Walter Reed in the early 90s and Patch Adams came to visit the troops, but before that, he gave a talk to the staff in the hospital auditorium about his life, his purpose and how he got started with the Gezunhite Institute. He has also written a book . I am not sure if his institute is still in existence, but nurses could work there Without wages when they were on vacation from their regular jobs. He was very intertaining and most sincere in his passion for caring for his Patients....

Patch Adams son attended the school I taught in. Dr. Adams would stand and the end of the hallway to the library waiting for his son’s dismissal. Dr. Adams wore clown pants everyday. I thought he was a professional clown for the longest time. Finally, someone who had the son clued me in that he was really a doctor.

I so agree. Kindness is contagious...we should spread that around....no masks or distancing required for kindness. Always tell those you care about just how you feel. Check up on people during this pandemic. A phone call ..a text....a note taped to your neighbours door. Offer help in what ever way you can

It is such a shame that we have lost such a legendary, amazing comedian and actor as Robin Williams. When ever I watch the original Aladdin and the remake I’m sorry but as great as Will Smith is in it he will never hold a flame to Robbin Williams. There is no one out there that can play the Genie 🧞♂️ as amazingly as Robbin Williams did. He will be truly missed for ever.
