Just picked up a circa 2013 Aquanaut with date only, 40mm of course. Love it ! Perfect daily wearer as I don't want to scratch my Nautilus 5726, while engaging in sport. The Aquanaut is so light you don't even know your wearing it. Good vid.

James West Thanks for your comment, the Aquanaut is also one of my favourite Pateks. Very nice 5726! Thoughts on my review of the Patek 5990? :)

perfect video. Erik, what is your brand ranking with these, Patek, Vacheron, AP, Breguet. For example: Patek > Vacheron > AP > Breguet.

I handle this watch personally but never own it. It is a perfect sports watch except for the followings that I found uncomfortable with: 1) Its size is a bit too big for a 40mm watch. I like the 5165a proportions, a 38mm which truly wears like a 40mm watch. This watch is easily 42mm on wrist, plus the heft, a bit too big for me. 2) I have heard some mechanical issues regarding the second time zone function. Though, I have to say it is designed flawlessly in terms of its usage and appearance. 3) I like the date wheel in terms of design, as it features a matching theme to the dial and the watch (a globe), however it is not very legible and often times flat-out unreadable. Everything else about this watch is perfect in my opinion.

The 5167 is probably the one for me and will see double duty as sport and business. For more formal occasions which are very few in my life I still like a Lange 1815

I wish you elaborated a little more on the strap adjustment issue. explaining that there is no easy way other than cutting the rubber strap to your size. which would be an issue if you yoyo in weight gain and weight loss. or if you decided to sell it. :(
@ternsjo9 жыл бұрын
Ahdi Al-Hunaif Hi Ahdi, thanks for your feedback! I agree with your comment and I also feel that Patek could (and should) have made an easier way to adjust the rubber strap. Especially considering these straps are far from inexpensive.

I noticed the rubber bracelet doesn't wrap around your wrist fully. it seems bloated and untidy. Does it conform nicely to one's wrist and taper down completely at the lugs ?

I didn't know Boodles Dublin branch did Patek! Is this a new thing? Great reviews by the way, very thorough and enjoyable!
@ternsjo9 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for the compliment! I am working on other videos so stay tuned :) Regarding Boodles, they only recently got their license to sell Patek. Boodles UK is one of the bigger sellers of Patek so not a big surprise they got it. I must say, their service is spectacular and I would highly recommend visiting their Dublin boutique if you are looking for a Patek. If you do, say hello from me :)

+Erik Ternsjø do you know how to adjust the straps for small wrist?
@markn56048 жыл бұрын
Sorry but I really struggle with any Patek that has a rubber band vs. leather or metal. Personally, my favorite is the 5711 or 5712R.
@ternsjo8 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for commenting and sharing your thoughts. Rubber bands (along with the entire watch) are very subjective and that's completely fine. I feel leather and metal bands definitely has a more classy feel compared to a rubber band. The 5711 is beautiful. I have done several Patek Philippe reviews and explanation videos on my channel that you might enjoy as the vast majority of them have either a leather or metal strap :)

It is certainly a nice watch. Patek obviously speaks for itself. But I do have a hard time with the price. For the same money you could have a solid white gold Rolex GMT Pepsi, or a rose gold Rolex YachtMaster with rubber strap AND a Rolex GMT BLNR. I'm sure there are many other combinations of amazing choices for $34,000. Or heck, you could buy a nice Rolex Submariner and a new car! While Patek may be one of the best watch makers in the world, it is disturbing that some people are having issues with those pushers, and idiotic that there is not a proper system of strap size adjustment on this piece. At that kind of price you have a right to expect perfection.

Good video and nice watch but I am very very traditional and think that there are classic dress watches and there are sports watches and they are separate and distinct and this watch could never be considered or used for a dress watch but that is just my opinion.
@ternsjo8 жыл бұрын
+Dennis Sanders I completely understand. For one of my favourite "traditional" dress watches (in this price range) is the Patek Calatrava 5227 in rose gold which I've also done a review on my channel ;) Let me know what you think of that piece.

+Erik Ternsjö I love the Calatrava a lot but I think I prefer the Lange Saxonia a little more.

Appreciate the technique but it is way too thick. I would prefer the 'original' 5711/1A.
@ternsjo9 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your feedback! I really like the 5711 too; however, I don't think this piece is particularly thick (at only 3mm thicker). Keep in mind, this piece comes with a rubber strap which, in my opinion, makes it look slimmer. Thoughts on my Travel time Nautilus 5990? ;)
@Bidle789 жыл бұрын
Erik Ternsjö Sorry Erik,.... this reaction was for the Nautilus,.. somehow I made a comment on this watch. :-) This aquanaut I actually like and can see me buying one. The nautilus I just like it simple near to the original. The dial is too busy and don't like the pushers on the right. The technique is great, especially the safeties that are build in.
@ternsjo9 жыл бұрын
Haha, no worries! I agree the 5990 is quite a thick watch which makes it definitely stand out more than the original. The chronograph buttons and the dual timezone buttons also makes the case more bold and prominent.

Erik Ternsjö Thx, will check some more video's from you now. :-)
