I thought he looked like the dad too although the little boy is what my mom used to call "cross eyed." I know that can be fixed with surgery though and sometimes not even surgery but wearing an eye patch over the good eye so they are forced to use the other eye which they have stopped using. I don't think that has anything to do with albinism but another health issue he has. . Several people in my family had that and needed surgery or to wear an eye patch when they were small to correct that.

Red eyes are a sign of albinism.... There is another condition called Leucism where they lose pigment, but not necessarily all pigment. I believe albinism is considered a type if Leucism.

Just cried coz went through the same issue, had a blood clot in the brain, sent me into coma for seven days while still pregnant, was told the blood thinners would most likely make me loss my child, or my life. I feel that lady so much and she is strong.

Achie Awiti What blood thinners were you on? I had a pulmonary embolism with my second child. Went to the ER. Got IV heparin for 4 days and then put on Lovenox shots, twice daily, for the rest of the pregnancy. Both are 100% safe in pregnancy and are RECOMMENDED during pregnancy in some cases of IVF or multiple miscarriages. In fact, because of the clot in my second pregnancy, I was told that I'd need the shots for any subsequent pregnancy and ended up taking them for the entirety of my 3rd pregnancy. I'd like to know what type of anticoagulant you (and this woman) received that could have possibly endangered the lives of both mother and child? Was it TPA? Heparins don't cross the placenta. Coumadin can cause birth defects. But what blood thinner threatens the mother? I'm being serious.

I know one woman that left her husband when she got strong enough to leave the abuse. She started dating another man, got pregnant. She wasn't ready to be a mother and another friend wanted to adopt. But because of state law her husband was on the Cert. of Live Birth. He, still wanting to hurt her, refused to sign away parental rights to a baby he knew wasn't his. It took 6 months of fighting in the courts to get her divorce and him removed from the Cert. The baby did get adopted and started college last week. The woman and the boyfriend have been married now for 10 years and have 2 other children. The ex-husband was shunned by everyone and ended up leaving the state.

My husband fought me for so long, he had a $200 an hour attorney, and I was in Propria Persona...all because he didn't want to give me any marital assets, eventually the judge gave us a Bifurcated Divorce. ...my ex paid 15 grand to his lawyer, to keep from giving me 5 grand. So divorces aren't always cut and dry, they can be long and drawn out...and if the two people live in different states, it is even more complicated.

True Albinos are unique , but you wouldn't want for anyone to have it . What the lady said about the setbacks her son had endured and have to from now on is just the tip of the iceberg .

If I understand it correctly, albinism is a recessive gene carried by both parents . This leaves the child with a 1 in 4 chance of developing the condition. The parents do not have to be albino themselves, just carry that rogue gene

There are various forms of albinism. In order to have a child with albinism both parents must be carriers. Due to the brain bleed and seizures her son could also have cortical visual impairment. Likewise with the nystagmus and lack of pigment in the iris he should wear transition eye glasses. I hope he’s receiving vision education services, orientation and mobility, along with physical, occupational, and speech services.

I totally agree. I am visually impaired myself and would be happy to help them out if I could. I hope Ray Lowry is able to connect them with a chapter of her group in Georgia. I think they would really benefit from being in a community with other parents who are in the same boat.

@@spillthetea2656 Yes, albinism means that you are unable to produce any melanin. Very light-skinned people who aren't albino are still able to produce some melanin, so they don't suffer from the problems that the absence of it causes (mostly lots of issues with eye development and health, as well as an even higher risk of skin cancer and skin disease in general)

It could be easily verified if they both carried recessive albinism genes or if it is X chromosome / ocular albinism. One would surmise that they would of already determined this in a clinical setting making the paternity questions moot.

My girl too has epilepsy... How is your son now? My daughter is taking medicines for last 1 year.. Just concerned whether it can be completely treated? My dad had epilepsy and we lost him coz he were a bit careless abt the medication.. mentioned he was taking medicines and he didn't... Gene sequences is complex. I am the only person in my family that has red hair. Everyone else has dark brown hair or light brown hair. My dad denied me for years because I have red hair. It was then explained that I could of inherited the gene from ancestors that were a live centuries ago.
