When I was doing daily videos on tou tube it was fine. Work from 7:30 til 5pm, shoot on the way to work and to home, then stay up till 2 or three editing. Didn't do it for long, everything else in my life changed and the CBFs took hold I have been meaning to do a podcast for 4 years, but here I am not. Being an anxious person, and I know things are about to change with a a kid maybe on the way( another story) and moving/buying a house and I am anxious about not continuing to produce stuff. The starting doesn't bother me the failing does. If you know what I mean. Right before covid I put out a casting call for a general you tube sketch channel and vlog( fat and ordinary, since that is how I feel much of the time) got a really good response and had already written scripts for about 15 stories about working in retail as a smart arse. I had 9 people fully committed to come on board and it was going to be fun.... Now.....meh. I am a bit older, a bit fatter, a bit more ordinary. Just saying. I will put my mini violin away now. 😜

None of the podcasting platforms allow for commenting so unlike KZbin, it can be very hard to get feedback. Feedback can usually motivate you to carry on as well which is something I was missing out on a lot.

I started podcasting today and came to know about it. I felt bored a bit but I wanted to create a personal brand of my channel, therefore I decided to be consistent. I had attempted multiple other podcasts before starting YAP and keeping up with the demand for content is definitely noteworthy for those who want to start their own journey. Live-streaming a new video podcast and sharing it to highly active group that relative to your topic is a great way to jumpstart your podcast, just remember to ask your listeners to share the stream to their favorite group on something like Facebook. Live streaming is a huge bonus especially if you can get the live chat active so it boostsyou seo. My dream is starting an interview style podcast using a combination of video and live streaming, the fans can offer good questions to ask your guests via the live chat, and If their question is used it will likely boost the engagement in the live chat other fans will hopeyou pick their question as the interview progresses just make sure to acknowledge the person asking the question on whatever platform you’re streaming on. Pick a topic that you follow passionately since podfade happens the most with topics that you stop researching/not interested in outside of broadcasting. it absolutely shows when a podcast host is doing it as ‘work’ vs doing it as a passion project. Also if you’re enrolled at a university/community college I would HIGHLY recommend taking a public speaking class(confidence boosting and projective speaking techniques) and/or a broadcasting class. It takes so much longer parsing through the countless “10 THINGS I WISH THEY TOLD ME” videos on KZbin because most of the time, it’s all the same anecdotal advice lazily reworded rather than elaborating further using quality sourced information. The academic environment helps me internalize what I learned vs copying the processes of another KZbinr and wondering why it sucks when it doesn’t come out the way I wanted.
