I know some of these basic guide videos are a little older, but I'm a recent comer (big fan of Diablo II and III, finally gave PoE another try) and your channel seems to be the only really comprehensive source for info like this. I know editing videos can be a drag and it's deeply appreciated. I'm currently in Act 4 Cruel on my Necromancer, trying to do the Labyrinth on Cruel now. I got to the second Izaro fight and his waifu wasted me with orbs, lol. Piercing projectiles are my only weakness since my minions are impervious but my witch is very frail.

+lankeysob Could not agree more... Being challenging is fine, but it's just SO boring. Plus I've gotten oneshot on cruel twice now with 3.3k HP. Izaro didn't even have buffs up. Mate of mine even got oneshot on Merciless at lvl 78 with 5.4k hp... Fuck Izaro tbh.

+LordDivine1 That's why you don't bother completing the Labyrinth until you've just leveled, so you don't waste experience. Then for daily, just do less risky sections if you like. Otherwise the map end-game still works fine, don't bother too much with the Labyrinth except to unlock your Ascendancy points for each character.

SilverBack Evasion builds don't rly have armor, now do they? I've also done it easy peasy with melee/armor since, but evasion builds kinda get fucked if they don't get lucky with RNG evades vs. burst dmg, and it's not like you have Lightning Coils being thrown your way for free.

Tried tackling the labyrinth for the first time last night with no reading up on it. Got tired halfway through and went to bed after killing Izaro the second time. Wish me luck as I go upstairs to do it all over again (this time with a bit more direction thanks to this handy video)

It is stupid that you have to complete trial on each difficulty,you should be able to complete only on one and the rest should be unlocked.

+Simple Jack and a Horse Traps behave differently on each difficulty. A well balanced design should have been to complete all trials on all difficulties on a single character, and unlocks labyrinth for each other characters made on your account permanently.

+Simple Jack and a Horse Oh come on, it's not like it takes you anything more than 3 minutes tocomplete any of them. It just gives you a bit variety, what's so wrong with that. I mean, the point of the labyrinth was that it's an interesting thing to do and the rewards are worth it. If you don't feel like ti, you can always just go farm Dried lake to lv100 if you don't want to put in minimal effort to unlock the labyrinth.

Just tried the lab for the first time on normal. I'm kinda familiar with PoE but just came back after 1-1.5 years (i quit shortly after act4 was introduced). I have to say this shit is really hard, died 3-4 times on the 3rd or 4th map because of this frickin traps. BUT i really like it, though. While lvling you just rush through the game so this stuff, where you actually have to pay attention, is really refreshing. I'm looking forward to my next few tries tomorrow :D Also thanks for the guide, Ziggy! Keep up the good work!

Now I have to admit I was hyped for this. The traps, the multiple choices and the boss fight that forces you to think. In fact I still enjoy it. However, throwing you out after dying when Izaro easily oneshots without any of his side objectives up is when I call bullshit. I cannot farm this area at all now in fear of dying and being cast out. Instead of exploring and looting now I am speed running the shit out of this. Keep the challenge, lose the stupid one chance mechanic. Keep hardcore for hardcore and softcore for softcore. Hell im even willing for the loot penalty ( losing the keys on death) to stay as long as my 30+ minutes aren't flushed down the drain. There rant over. Ooh that felt good.

Actually I enjoy the lab. Changes the pace of the game quite a lot and contrary to most comments I read, the loot is quite fine, even when not reaching the end. Just finished a run on cruel and left with 4 uniques and loads of good stuff befor the final fight. And the traps make movement and positioning a more integral feature in fights while before its just been a grindfest with little to no requirements to the brain. edit: And yes, Izaro is not the easiest boss. Gotta learn some patterns and keep calm during the fights, then it becomes challenging but not at all impossible.

Wanna go have some fun after not playing for awhile. Actually love the new skill and perandus league then come to the lab and got rip all over because of a par laptop i died so many times because of lags and sudden stuttering latency. After an abrupt rage quit, I realize it just put to much stress with almost zero reward. I mean hours of stress for what? meh loot? Better be producing something IRL. I don't mind the labyrinth but I feel like ES characters get really shafted compared to life, especially in the final Izaro fight with the trap room you showed in the video, the room is so small with the lava trap. Also just getting though the labyrinth itself is just much faster on life, you can run through some traps and just pot to heal the damage, ES you almost have to completely avoid all damage from traps.

Nice guide! I had the misfortune to dc during my first labyrinth run after I killed izaro twice. Of course that makes me question the current concept, especially when the dc occurred due to server issues. Maybe you could make another guide on a "lab quick run"? Just an idea :)

I was leveling my first hardcore character (played in softcore up to level 28) and then near in the end of act 3, I decided to go to the labyrinth. Basically, I was doing well, everything was smooth and easy. Traps, mobs, even the first Isaro fight with his skeleton commanders. Easy. But then I met Argus, thought of him as of a side boss, but he owned me hard. Couldn't tank and couldn't attack him from a safe distance either, cause of the rush and ranged attacks. So, basically, my hardcore character was killed by a f..cking side boss.

+Richard Jones At any entrance or exit to a zone there's an object you can click that shows you where you are. When entering a new zone, click that and see if there is an icon of a golden key. If you don't see it in any of the zones you've been to, then you need to find more zones in the labyrinth until you find one with the key. The key is usually in the zone immediately after the golden door, so usually you find the door, go to the next area, find the key, then backtrack to the door and open it.

I like that they introduced those Grim Dawn like hidden areas that don't show on the map for which you have to flick a small lever on the wall so a part of the wall moves out of the way. I don't know if all area types can have these. Couldn't spot one in the dungeon type parts yet (very noisy). Some areas are shown on the map, but can only be reached by using a movement skill that can cross gaps (only seen in dungeon type yet). Also, if you have the option at the end of an area, the direction refer to the labyrinth layout as far as I can tell. So, if the layout says that there are 2 exits, one up right, one down right for example, then the exits of the area will correlate to this meaning the left one will correlate to the down left and the right to the down right one. If you just want to run through, you can do it this way pretty easy. And when you get into the room before Izaro encounters, you can see which help he has on balconies in the corners next to the stair. You will know this most of the time since it's depending on the previous fight(s), but if you are not sure, if you stopped one thing or not, you can see it there.

After reading the comments, I guess I must be one of the few that enjoyed the lab. It is different each day, and is still not easy for high lv players because of the traps. I farm in it by spending all my offerings on days in which there are 5 keys total.

So far these have been the least fun addition to the game since launch, quite disappointing really. Way to long and the chances of getting instagibbed can waste hours of progress, it just doesnt really seem worth the trouble until your almost done with your character so you could just walk through everything one shot everything and then leave. Not a very smart decision to lock all the new subclasses behind something like this in my opinion. Sad to see really, fell in love with this game when it first came out but i may never touch the subclasses because of this. Hopefully they fine tune these better and get them into more of a manageable state.

After a try or two and dying (which did waste some time) I figured it out and then raced through it in less than 20-30 minutes. Be leveled, smart and prepared - then you won't die and waste time

If you're not half assing you can run it in less than ten minutes. An easy lab layout can be about 5. Yes, you have to be leveled (prepared) for it but since when are things supposed to be easy?

Hmm..I just unlocked this at lvl 40. I can't fight Izaro at all. It just laggs and then shows me the death screen. I don't even see him attacking. This happens in many boss fights but for this one it actually matters when you die so I guess I can't do the labyrinth, or can't complete it anyway.

I've fought Izaro about three times so far. Each time he's had a different weapons and somewhat different attacks. He's had a two handed hammer, two short swords, and a sword and shield. The hammer AOE is pretty big, almost as big as the malachi AOE if not bigger, and even on the periphery if he catches you that's a third of your health gone. Movement skills are essential in fighting him at his current state.

i haven't been able to complete it with my 79lvl summoner even on normal and i'm getting tired of trying to be honest. as soon as a couple of traps manage to hit me i'm dead and i have to start all over again. i like the idea but i don't think it should be mandatory for progression. it would be better if ascendancy classes were rewarded from something else and leave the labyrinth as an optional thing for those who like it. so far it has been nothing but frustrating while it should have been fun and engaging

This addon is the biggest joke they ever thrown at us yet! The perandus league will have an economy worse than standard in a few days, The entire ascendancy content is hugely overscaled, cruel lab. mobs hit harder than Merciless enemies. Not to mention that they upped the dmg of traps in the lab. compared to alpha footage. Not to mention these fucking ridiculous perandus chest enemies that offscreen you, and feel like they are hacking, they have no cast/atk animation what so ever, they throw 500 Ball lightning at you per sec. making you laag out. Stunlock you and shoot blastrain at the position you are walking to making it incredible hard to dodge it. Also, holy shit i am in merc. lvl 60 and only seen 3 masters so far... how do they think we craft our gear this way?! o.O I never hated the game this much... so they rly sticked to their goal of making this game less enjoyable with every major patch.

I quit PoE because of the content. Not because of difficulty, simply don't like the lab or the traps. it's like playing Donkey Kong 64 or some other console game. From what I read it's permanent too. It's all over the forums. I wish players that enjoy this type of game and GGG success catering to new type of player base. I had some good past seasons with PoE. On to something new. Take care Ziggy. I found labyrinth to be very interesting, it's fun run and the fight with Izaro is so intense. I did merciless Izaro solo with lvl 67 Templar/Guardian, and I could facetank him with 2,8k ES without dying. Thanks GGG for awesome expansion

Is it possible for one route to be not viable? I once was rushing to the end and in one instance could not move forward to the rest of the labyrinth. I circumambulated the entire area (the area I was bound to was pretty small) and could see there was more area to the map that I couldn't access. I figured I had missed a switch or made a wrong turn. So I went back to try and press all switches in previous zones, and died in the process.

The Labyrinth is the most boring content ever added to PoE... The Perandus / Cadiro is great though IMO, I actually really enjoy that addition to PoE... But the Labyrinth is just beyond unfun, tedious and way too long plus the oneshot BS with that boss and zero room for error is just so... Meh

maybe they can make so that when you have completed the labyrinth once and gotten the ascendancy class, the labyrinth is shortened for you. Then the class reward is still hard to get and farming the labyrinth after becomes more of an option.

Just wanna share...during my final battle with Izaro on Merciless, my game lagged about 1 sec, then after that my character died on fire drain. Poor my Spartacus. But good thing is, with new PoE content, i can kill Malachi without relied on flask. Gladiator rocks!

I tried the labyrinth once so far and found a secret door that went to some side area. The entrance I came into wasn't marked and the area had 2 exits. One that went to a walled off area back at the start, then the other... I can't even remember, somewhere around area 1-3, but I then had to back track from there to the start and then I could go forward normally. It took me 2 hours to get to the end, only to die to the last Izaro fight. :/

I honestly think that the best thing about Ascendancy is the Izaro theme ...and I'm only half joking.That shit is epic and fits perfectly with the massive ass clenching that sometimes occurs in that fight.

my blade vertex assassin have RIP like 10 times in cruel LABYRINTH.....almost all rip in the second boss fight...... how are one suppose to kill Izaro in melee range with low armor.......

Imprtant note: Ascndant's treasure, usually found behind silver doors, can contain Treasure Keys. Definetly worth looking into. Also, the number of silver/golden keys might not correspond with the number of doors to unlock, meaning that sometimes you'll get an extra key, but in most cases, you won't have enough keys to open them all, forcing you to consider wether it's worth opening a door or not. (I usually just skip darkshrines) +ZiggyD Gaming It'd be great if you could make videos showcasing the types of battles you can encounter with Izaro, how to defeat him with them and what to watch out. A video showcasing how secrets (hidden switches, secret passages, breakable walls etc.) look like would also be helpful. It doesn't matter if the guide isn't perfect, just showcasing a few, would go far for people trying to complete challenges and the labyrinth.

Im currently atl level 45 with my 2H Duelist and I can't beat the last encounter with Izaro. He is always 2-shotting me. How the hell are you supposed to kill him?

+Barack Obama It's the same rule as for the rest of hardcore; your character will be transfered to standard league, which means you can't trade with any other players in the hardcore league. People who play hardcore a lot often sell off or stash their gear when they die, then delete the character, so you end up with a bunch of extra currency and stuff in standard league.

It helps with Izaro though. The lab is just horrible if you have es. It's a bit of a laugh if you can just pot through and run like an idiot and then you'll always be fine, but that's how it works right now. having trouble? bring more pots. that's how the lab seems to work now. having trouble still? use lightning warp/blink arrow. it's a bit of a letdown honestly. I do feel it's a bit of a nuisance for people that don't like platforming, since it's nothing like the rest of the game, and kind of mandatory.

None of the chests dropped silver or golden keys for me :( Donno if it's bugged, I clicked the "show all items" button too. No keys

I agree with most of the comments here. At first the Labyrinth seems fun and challenging to do plus the great loot. But after spending hours fighting and dodging traps just to lost your progress is not fun at all. And I hate it so much every time when the server lags and bring me back to death spots on the trap area. I always ignore the whole Labyrinth thing as long as I can in my buids.

First tried this blind at lvl 35 with explosive arrow without gmp and quill rain, died a few times by traps, then finally got to izaro. Spent 30 min there cos my dps was so bad, the whole room was flooded with skeletons, but still managed to kite him around. That Daresso air slash was the most painful, 600hp or something. Next phase another 30 min, this time flooded with skeles and unique monsters from mirror-like objects. Got to 3rd phase, still flooded by everything from phase 2 + traps. Finally died cos I didn't know how I landed on the traps and was too laggy to blink arrow out. I probably could have done it with my shit dps if I avoided that green warp thing at his feet. By then I was 41 (spent 6 levels in a 33 zone wtf). Bought gmp, quill rain and cleared it in 20 min. Definitely a gear check.

I see a lot of negativity in the comment section regarding the completion of the trials and the labyrinth. This expansion offers you ways to further specialize your character in an incredible way, as well as combinations of six additional powerful nodes to the tree, at the cost of about an hour per character. It's challenging repeatable end game content that offers bonus that you can't find anywhere else. Did I mention the game is still free? It honestly blows my mind how certain people while always complain no matter how good they have it.

+KpopNoodle People are complaining about the challenge, I think it's brilliant and meant to kick our asses over and over again. For me, the Labyrinth breathes new life into the game and ensures that I'll be playing PoE for the next few months without getting bored.

It is possible they are a loud minority.I actual like the lab and the ascendancies are your reward for doing it but people think they can get GGG to seperate them from the lab which is absolutely pointless,they were designed to be together.The thing with ARPGs your getting constant rewards just for playing so your kinda spoilt compared to other games where the reward is a feeling of accomplishment.

i did it at level 40 i think at that level its easy even if you dont have the best build

my first round 3 izaro fight I didnt know he could tp me into the traps which lagged me out so i died, the 2nd time i messed up on the charge dispelling so he had like 20 endurance charges and I managed to fight him pretty efficiently, slowly working him down... until the game disconnected with no warning when he had ~5% hp left :/

A note about unlocking the labyrinth. If you don't do any of the trials in normal, and then do them all in cruel it will unlock the labyrinth in normal as well as cruel.
