I did some experiments and some paper math regarding delirium, consuming dark and overall LL delirium bow vs skin setup, and I concur with your conclusion. First of all, for single target and on higher map bosses, as long as you could do a few ED hits every second or so, consuming wins over delirium, even when nothing else put into the equation. The only case where I found delirium performs better is when you're doing low-mid tier maps where you just want to one shot stuff and leave it at that. Second, this setup allows you to min max the build way better than a LL delirium bow version, even with Pain Attunement put into the consideration. You could still reach 10k+ ES with good rolls on gear (esp. crystal belt), which allows you to wield consuming + delirium dagger + a +1 to gems chest (which gives the same result as having +1 to gems bow, thus the level 26 ED gem is also achievable on this setup), this provides some insane level of damage and completely outstrips the LL shav delirium bow version that some people seems to think is the 'best' ED setup, with about a tenth of the overall cost.

I hit 10k quite easily with no shield and a shav and all damage on tree except the shadow starting nodes at lvl 85

+Name Delirium is great, no one's denying that, it's still insane even after the nerf. The problem with it is that while passives and gem links does affect the decay (credit goes to /u/Sheapy for the testing done), it does not stack as in further/continuous application only refreshes the dot, unlike poison With high enough ED damage (from gem levels, and your passives and gear), a few hits would already beat a 10s decay application from delirium, even among endgame bosses, there are very small percentage of them where you can only do one ED hit every 10 seconds. So in short, if you can do in average even one ED hit every 1-2 seconds per 10 seconds, poison already wins over delirium. By higher map, I mean higher map, and I do believe LNB also refers to endgame bosses, not something like merc voll or a T10 boss with no health mod. Anything lower then Delirium wins almost always. By "anything else put into the equation" I was referring to your gear and passives, not the condition when you're fighting. On a side note : Ideally, you want to grab both consuming dark and delirium, since this build allows you to, unlike the other version. And I played ED for quite sometime and has been my default progression character on every league that I've played, and by power/cost ratio, the version in this video is about as good as you can get from an ED without spending dozen of exalts on a character so I highly recommend people to try out this build. The only changes I would make is taking Piercing Shots over the bottom left duration nodes LNB has, but that's completely subjective and how I personally like to play ED. The current tree in this guide is already good as it is.

also I think the delerium is better because of how long it lasts...u can shoot one time and temp chains will make it so they take massive amount of dmg due to the "other effects expire 40% slower" multiply that by the 40% cure effect from tree 4% from jewel and 30% from enchant makes effect expire 70% slower making them take 750 chaos dmg(which is also modified by gems) over 17 seconds on top of essence drains debuff

I'm doing the 6L shavs dual wield version with Scion. Kinda wish I was occultist but the pierce is fairly nice. Presence of Chayula provides me with an extra 1.3k es and near capped chaos res. I'm sitting at 9.2kes but it was extremely expensive. 10ex for the 6L shavs, 3.5ex for Chayula, and about 2ex for the rest of the gear/gems. Hardest part for me right now is getting a lvl-21 essence drain. Coloring the shavs is a pain in the ass too.

hey lifting I'm doing a similar build but using a short bow so I can get delerium and 1+ on the bow and you can use shav+ soulstrike and I have massive curse effect so monster move Uber slow

how would you compare trickster and occultist? i personally feel like trickster is superior, but seening way more occultists lately that use ED... could you make a little "versus" of both classes? is trickster simply the more-currency version thanks to req. a +1 curse somewhere else?

You really dont need a Shavs for lowlife version of this, I'm running lowlife with skin of the loyal. The upgraded Chayula necklace yields crazy good ES , got like 600life unreserved and with capped chaosres there are absolutely no issues. For things like Chayula breach u can just deactivate the aura on life. About 10k ES with skin and dualwielding, ofc with Ragalia that can go alot higher but I went for maximum damage.

Hey Lifting. Do have 100% pierce if so how have you generated that without the pierce nodes? would you not reccomend dual wielding if you go CI ? I have 9k energy sheild with a dual weild delirium set up and making use of spell damage while dual wielding jewels...

I'm new to the game and wondering if this build is doable for someone new with 0 currency? I'm not completely oblivious, I came from D2 so I understand some mechanics, and I've been looking up beginner guides like mad.. but most of the labeled "beginner-friendly" builds look boring af to me. I mean have an easy ride is nice and all, but I'll probably lose interest if I'm not really into it. Especially coming into a new game, I haven't fallen "in love" with the game yet so I want something that will grab me and entice me to keep playing. Would I be able to pull this off based on this video guide and skill tree links? Or is there a written guide I can follow somewhere as well? Or is this build way over my head? Any suggestions of something else engaging and fun to play? I'm looking at witch or ranger.. preferably no "summoner" builds because I find them super lame to play. He has 1 HP from Chaos Inoculation. It's a node on the talent tree. It makes you immune to chaos damage, but brings your HP to 1.

How u get such a high es? i have craft my itens and done like 'how to ci video' but i got 6200 with discipline and all nodes of skill tree 190 es glove , 290 es from heretic veil,788 vaal regalia,210 es boots and 120 maximum from belt. wtf i doing wrong?

Seems you don't have "all nodes of skill tree". Otherwise that's hardly possible. What are you referring to? Lifting's skill tree? Make sure you have enough strength/dex/int for your gear and all gems and that no item is "deactivated".

You are doing something incredibly wrong, i have 10k ES without Discipline and less ES on the gear than you, and i took only the most important ES nodes. Also using Shaper boots and Winds of change which give little to no ES.

There are a few trickster variants. ItsYogi and Project PT have good guides. You can probably get away with just using there skill tree and using the same gear, but they have interesting input on support gems, unique and other stuff. Doesnt have poison so the single target REALLY takes a hit, also you just dont need that increased duration, with temp chains you get like 6 seconds and ive never once seen a essence drain stay around that long. Also whirling blades

You need to remove bleed/freeze/burning with flasks, most CI builds need to roll these mods to remove debuffs in flasks

I've played similar build for like 2-3 weeks and "profane bloom" was the worst choice I've made. It was pain in the ass and ruined the joy o playing Essence Drain, especially in maps.

With skin of the loyal, lvl 21 ED and lvl 3 empower, he ends up getting a lvl 26 ED so that's where most damage comes from. Otherwise you would need a lvl 4 empower and lvl 21 ED to get close to that damage without skin of the loyal

skin of the loyal 3G2B1R is fairly cheap atm, and you can get an empower lvl 3 for about 10c. Other than that quality on ED is really nice also, at +20% qual you get +20% inc. chaos damage on ED gem.
