Warning for those of you just looking at this and thinking of making this build: completely nerfed. There is, in fact, probably no reason to play scion at all anymore. Took deadeye down to 30% pierce chance and removed projectile speed increase. Berserker now leeches only 1.5% and only if you've killed recently. There's nerfing, and then theres nuking out of the game entirely. Thanks GGG.

Every time I was appealed by the amount of time required to invest to build a character near anything like these characters in YT videos. The amount of grind you have to go through is beyond sane.

Was all excited to try your build made char and got most of items and gems then noticed that stuff was diff and that they nerfed spark,Voltaxic Rift, Deadeye skill, berserker skill hard Spark and Vaal Spark projectiles (including those from monster Sparks) are now 20% slower. Quality on Spark and Vaal Spark is now worth 1% projectile speed per point of quality (rather than 2%). The time that Sparks must travel before they re-arm has been increased from 500ms to 1000ms. Spark projectiles now destroy themselves after travelling 150 units, which is in-line with other projectiles. Elemental to chaos conversion has been reduced in effectiveness. This only appears on a few items, but is a system change rather than just a change to those items. As such the items affected will not have legacy versions with old values. We have made sure these items display the correct new effective value. The values of chaos conversion on Voltaxic Rift and other uniques have been reduced to be 60% of their prior value. Add with lowering of both deadeye and berserker skills my question is this build even worth trying after they nerfed every aspect of it should i waste more time will I still be able to be versatile and do all maps/content if i make this build or should i just scrap my char and do something else?

I'm playing with it and its not that bad, it weirdly enough makes you take almost no reflection damage and you can clear maps very quickly actually... Wands are probably worth it since it makes the DPS a lot higher.

Hey, ZiggyD. I'm following this build with my second PoE character (currently level 83) and I'm having a bad time keeping my mana up on bosses without any mana flasks. Do you keep your mana just using Clarity, Rallying Cry and the Warlord's Mark leech? And did you spend any passive points in any mana node?

I found a nice way of building more damage for the dual wand variant assuming you have enough mana - get a Essence Worm Unset Ring and put wrath in it. Assuming your clarity is level 14 which is enough for now to not run out of mana even while spamming and I have a decent mana pool left after using HoT and clarity. Since wrath gives spells a More Damage multiplier it gives you a sizable chunk of damage.

It's weaker, no more double dipping. Voltraxic rift heavily nerfed, drillneck nerfed. I wouldnt recommend it.

I got a few questions about this build. 1: why don't you head into CI? 2: does this build still work in the most current patch? 3: I was looking at the leveling tree and saw you got jewel sockets pretty early, is that the right thing to do? 4: is there ever a time when I would want to take off the bow so I am not doing chaos dmg? I heard there is a boss who is immune to chaos should I change weapons against them? 5: Also the bow says it converts 60% of the lightning dmg to chaos, does the 40% not converted still hurt you on reflect maps? 6: why scion and not witch? Is it b/c of the longer duration nodes and ascendancy? 7: and I am a little worried about the extra 5% dmg taken from the berserker. Not really a question and I know u cover it in the video just worries me a little bit. Sorry for so many questions but I am new to the game and got a free spider spark skin from the game for the holidays so i wanted to try spark out, I just know nothing about it.

Quill Rain is great for leveling this build. i switched to bowcasting at lv 38 when i got spell echo. another decent unique is the Eldritch Knowledge jewel, since it will scale chaos dmg and the poison.

I'm currently lvling a similar build, but I'm using Agnerod staff instead for 20% extra lightning penetration and 100% shock duration. Reflect monster are trouble but I'm using Ghost Reaver, Mind over Matter and Immortal Flesh to regen faster and mitigate most faster hitting ennemies. I'm also using Lightning Orb to generate power charges and I'll also use it to spread my conductivity later with curse on hit. Also, since its a staff I can use Leap slam with Accuracy, Fortify and Faster Attacks to ahve a reliable escape and mitigation buff.

So for the Vaal Spark setup, you don't need Lightning Pen for the 4th link at all since Voltaxic converts your lightning damage to chaos. Poison support would be amazing though. Just wanted to call ya out on it in case anyone actually uses Lightning Pen ;)

Potency of will (and 2 nodes to get there) are shown as being taken in the video at 12:20, but on the skill tree (from ziggydtv link) it's not taken. Mistake, or have you changed your mind and now leave out Potency of Will? i.e. which is correct - Video or ZiggyD TV skill tree?

+zedzeduk It looks like skill effect duration is probably not that important and could get sacrificed. It's easier to edit the skill tree on that site, but editing a video is probably too much work. So I'd go with the tree on that site.

Hello ZyggyD. Good video as always. There is a question I would like to ask you. When you clear maps, You seem to never pick any loot but currencies and maps. I know you don't lack of items but I must admit I almays take at least all rare items (for chaos or regal and then alts). Is that just a choice for video recording or do you really play like that ? Do I only lose my time taking all the loot ? Thanks for answering.

It's really about efficiency. Most endgame mappers tend to clear very quickly and only pick up the big ticket items that will give you stacks of chaos. Picking up every rare become tedious and really slows down both the leveling process and the efficiency. 2 things that will help you about looting, experience and lootfilter The longer you play, the more you know what is worth picking up. You will know what is good to vendor for quick currency, what can possibly be worth a lot due to its base item, etc. The other is lootfilter. I recommend looking it to it. Helps a lot to quickly see, amidst the plethora of loot, the valuable items.

Thanks for your answer. I already took a filter. It changed my life in terms of screen visibiliy. I thought the reason had to do with something like that. Top players really impress me with their top items and currencies so fast in new leagues. It's all the more impressive considering they don't take everything they loot. I'll try to be more quick in this league then.

I also use a sparker in this league but I use a elementalist witch with total conversion from lightning to fire over cold (by Avatar of fire, Call of the Brotherhood and either Pyre or cold to Fire). Combined with mastermind of Discord and Fire Penetration you can penetrate any resistance with your lightning skills... And Paragon of Calamity buffs all your damage when you receive elemental damage. Only problem I have so far is that reflect with this amount of penetration really hurts...

Hi Ziggy, really enjoying this build (and others you've created/posted). Still on normal play-through and I've found the cost of self-casting even just spark itself is prohibitive, even with a lot of mana regen (opting not to use clarity so I can use a clear mind jewel). On a different character (essentially a rainbow nuke mjolner build) I substituted spark for arc and the damage seems insane (just from spark, discounting the discharge). Contemplating using a mjolner on the spark scion build to get around the mana issue, think it's worth doing?

I use Heretic's Veil with projectile weakness (or use blasphemy). the 25% knockback chance is great for jumping packs. +44% (no Q) damage from projectile. don't know if the added pierce chance works with the drillneck but if it work you just double your close range dps.

Also , for now i cant afford the Voltaxic Rift ,so i´m using Roth´s Reach bow, wich have +30% projectile speed and adds chain to my skills, not as good as Voltaxic Rift ,but is handy. Toughts?

ZiggyD I use a slight modification of this build, an additional curse introduced (Poachers') from Whispers of Doom passive besides Frenzy generation, it has buff 100% to flask charges!!!

That caracter was awesome. Died few days ago at lvl86 on Caer Blaidd, Wolfpack's Den, due to a bloody puncture and a Double Quicksilver flask.... Too bad I haven't got the opportunity to run red maps. Being overconfident is almost impossible to avoid. Maybe I'll reroll the same build. Got some nice drops too during the leveling, what do you think about the curse on hit + Wardlord's mark setup ? I got Enleighten, and I was thinking about using it, with blasphemy and Wardlord's mark to clearly get the advantage of the life leech. Any Idea ?

What do you think about the Rigwald quivers with the fork node? i'm playing dead eyes so only get 50% pierce with drillneck. Great build - some questions/suggestions: 1) why no projectile weakness curse? gives me good dmg boost against bosses, as I happen to have a corrupted drillneck which grants lvl 15 PW 2) why blink arrow AND Flame dash - how do you even manage two movement skills...(instead one: a projectile weakness gem if you dont have the corrupted drillneck?) 3) a granite flask of iron skin gives more phys damage reduction than a basalt flask? 4) void manipulation gem lvl 18+ seems stronger than Spell Echo / Controlled Destruction / Added Chaos / Innervate / Faster Projectiles so i added that (only have 5link so far on PHC) 5) Rallying Cry: I think not really needed if you have some +mana or manareg on gear (and not leveled clarity to max so you still have mana to 3-4x spark instant) - another button to press is always a pain... I like to keep it simple.

+Wolfgang Jahn 1) I prefer warlord's for the survivability and easy mana sustain. You can use a damage curse instead if you can find another way to manage your mana. 2) blink arrow and flame dash both have a cooldown, using both speeds you up overall as you can juggle their cooldowns. On builds like this your clearspeed is mostly a function of your travel speed. 3) it may say that it does but that depends on the size of the hit, basalt is 100% reliable against bigger hits. 4) Void manip is very good, go ahead and use it :D 5) rallying cry is mainly a damage boost, not for the mana. You can not use it if you like but you are leaving really easy damage on the table ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

ShadowXSAP it's a very risky item to use but could be a clear speed boost in softcore mid level maps. I'd stick with a high life resist belt personally ;)

I did also find him selling Maligaro's Restraint, which is great when your melting mobs but trying to figure out how to reduce the effects of being shocked or if its not worth it for survivability. whats yours/everyone's opinion on this belt?

Hey ziggyd. how do you sustain your mana just for casting spark? i follwed everything and im using 3 mana pots in my slots... and im lvl57 btw. and btw i can get the deadeye node after finishing lab at cruel stage? pls reply and great guide btw :))))

I'm midway through making a similar build in HC with a few change-ups. I'm using pledge of hands instead of Voltaxic and grabbing Vaal Pact and a Life Leech gem. Spark in this patch is the easiest leveling ever.

Fair warning, if you're planning on using the wand version of this build, be prepared to stack some Int on gear or in the passive tree. Top wands require 200+ and the tree, as it stands, falls short.

Hey there... I am fairly new to POE and with your guide I made my first character now to the point where I was able to get my first two ascendancy points. I am really sattisfied with the build but while spending said points i noticed, that the deadeye got nerfed. Will this build still be viable in endgame even though the nerf? any reccomendations about adjusting the spent skillpoints for example? Furthermore and last, thank you for your vids... POE would be a nightmare for beginners without your propper guides...

Another, and arguably better, option for the 5th link is quality Culling Strike. I happened to have a 20q Culling Strike and it was immensely stronger than Faster Proj. Had to run a green for my 5th link, as I simply could not get 3B2G on my 5L Belly.

Three questions Ziggy. What are the affixes on your flasks and isn't added lightning the same as added chaos since voltaxic converts lightning to chaos? Also how do you kill animated guardian on pier who has resists chaos?

Hey there, thx for the video and the fast guide on this build. I just wonder why do u link clarity with herald of thunder + warlord's + curse on hit. It is still pretty descent in essence but of course not so effective :S

@ZiggyD Gaming - How do you manage your mana? I have a few more mana nodes on an otherwise identical build (uniques, passive tree is the same etc), but ive picked up what seems like more mana nodes and still have to use a mana pot in only a 5L. Im afraid to 6L my setup right now haha :(

+ZiggyD Gaming if i have 95% chance to pierce w/out drillneck would you still recommend getting one with a different implicit? perhaps something like lightning damage leeched as life or an additional arrow (if that counts for spark).

Excellent build , I wanted to ask ziggyd , the new update 2.3.0 will come with a new laberynth and give another 2 points for subclasses of ascendancy , which would you choose another 2 points for this build?

+Antonio Labrecciosa It's not going to sound very exciting but your last points will most likely just go to some main stats and another +1 passive to spend. You wont get much by going path of the ranger. And the two points doesn't get you to another Ascendancy notable.

Ziggy I play standard and I'm on a budget of about 14 ex what wands do you suggest for this build? =) Are dual Void Battery's with the added power charge instead of frenzy for bandits and volls chainmail a viable option?
