Note the wording of the subclass, any weapon gains the thrown property, you could use a greataxe or greatsword like a boomerang.

Great video. Awesome subclass. I think it's one of the best there is. Big knock on barbarian is lack of things after initial few levels. This gives nice stuff throughout. Maybe a bit of a ripoff of P2e Giant Instinct Barbarian but still pretty cool. The thrown weapon with elemental properties is amazing.

I played the UA version in a level 20, norse mythology themed, Ragnarok one-shot. Each player got one Legendary, one Very Rare, one Rare or Uncommon, and an Epic Boon. My character was a Custom Lineage Human with the Tough feat to start, and for her magic items she got an Ascendant Dragon's Wrath Maul, a Manual of Gainful Exercise, and a Cloak of Protection. Her Epic Boon was the Boon of Fortitude. She had a 26 Strength, 20 AC, 365 HP, and with Great Weapon Master she was able to dish out *7d6+25 Thunder damage* on every hit (even with GWM active it was a +12 to hit), averaging at 99 damage per round. That's not even counting her Mighty Impel, which had a DC22. Hands down one of the most fun and powerful characters I have ever played. I'm happy to see it hasn't changed in the official release. 😄

I LOVE that you can swap elemental forms in the middle of your Rage. It’s like…I could have the wispy, white hair of a Storm Giant hurling lightning bolts (the weapon assumes that visage)…and then BAM. …my hair turns fiery; my skin darkens like charcoal; and my weapon becomes dripping with molten magma. It splatters against the target; only to reform in my hand. God…a hill giant would be WEIRD: I assume the acid damage is for them; maybe the Barbarian barfs their souped-up stomach acid on their weapon before they chuck it. That might be the MOST undesirable Barbarian to have in a party.

Yea! Happy Hands! Great to see you both again, and doing content I might actually get to use. I see large Halfling throwing someone into the air (30ft you can see) watching them land prone, and then using their attack to hit them while they are down with their two-handed weapon.

So game breaking question. With elemental cleaver. Can you first grapple someone rage and since when u grapple someone they are an improvised weapon? Can you infuse them and give them the thrown property?

I see acid making sense for two reasons, it's an element type, and technically, hill giants are very big and girthy, so it would make sense that considering their size and chaotic diet they would deal /have the most potent acid damage if they get you in their belly

Best Barbarian subclass? It looks like it would be fun relative to most of the current official Barb subclasses IMHO. But I'm giving best Barbarian subclass to the Path of the Earthbreaker in SGttEH. Great video BTW. Keep up the good work! 🙌

Fantastic subclass. They had to limit it to rage only, otherwise it would be way too powerful.

So a full throwing build barbarian, if you get something that can return after throw or if your dm allows that heavier items do more damage on impact this would be great with tavern brawler essentially making your character a mobile siege engine

This pairs really nicely with rouge especially scout and the new bug bears

There's a fun build I've come up with, 6 levels Giant Barbarian, then the rest in rogue. Play the MOST Australian high elf, named stive erwin, who uses a double bladed scimitar via the revenant blade feat (which makes that weapon finesse) for a 6 foot long gigantic boomerang that can sneak attack and returns to your hand

My brother will for sure want to play with this barbarian. And his best friend is playing with a gnome. There Will be a lot of inconsequent falling dmg XD.

On the rage to move heavy stuff niche RP thing, my mind immediately went to Loxodons who count as ome size larger when determining how much they can push, drag or lift. At 14th level when you can become huge while raging... would they be able to move weights equivalent to a gargantuan creature???

I do somewhat understand the implementation of Mighty Impel from a balance perspective, but it does kinda feel like a Flavor/RP fail. I would likely try to come to an agreement with the DM regarding some sort of a Homebrew variation where the 30ft of movement against unwilling targets is counted as fall damage even if they are being moved onto a surface. Perhaps add an additional Dex save on top of the Strength save to give additional opportunity for unwilling targets to avoid the fall damage in that case. Strength negates the whole action, but if Strength fails then Dex can negate the fall damage. Or maybe throws to a surface are half fall damage for unwilling targets. That way you can choose either to get the full damage by throwing straight up, or you can get some positional control by throwing horizontally without completely giving up the extra damage. The flavor of grabbing someone and chucking them 30 feet, but them taking absolutely no falling damage unless I throw them straight up into the air, just doesn't FEEL right. I also feel like there might be room to Homebrew some sort of formula to modify the Might Impel throw distance based on the character's strength or difference in size category. Almost Certainly Unbalanced Homebrew Variation: Your character's Push/Lift/Drag Capacity divided by Target Weight times 4. That would mean that a Human with 20 Strength (1200 lbs Push Lift Drag capacity while Raging) using this class would throw another Human (150 lbs) slightly more than 30 feet (32 feet). But if you have a Goliath with 20 Strength (2400 lbs Push Lift Drag capacity while Raging due to counting as Huge because of Little Giant racial feature) throwing a Gnome (40 lbs), then the distance would be 240 feet. That would almost certainly be way too strong (480 feet Lvl 14 with Demiurgic Colossus because it makes you Huge and then Little Giant makes a Goliath count as Gargantuan for Carrying/Push Lift Drag, LMAO. Gnome catapult) , so maybe cap it at 90 feet, but it would "feel" more appropriate. Perhaps Somewhat Balanced Homebrew Variation: 30 feet for each Size Tier you are above the effected creature. This would make the Lvl 10 throw equal 30 Feet on a Medium sized (ie Human) enemy but 60 feet on a Small sized (ie Gnome). Lvl 14 would increase it to 90 feet for throwing Small sized because you count as Huge. It would lose the Goliath interaction which is flavorfully neat, but wouldn't be as ridiculously overpowered.

My biggest downside to the class is if you go with a PAM and you hit level 14, your regular attack range is now the same as the thrown range, so it made it pointless to use the throw and I went back to javelin tossing to not get disadvantage

Bonus action throw an enemy in the air straight up, action attack when they land. Yeah reckless attack, but it saves giving advantage to enemies against you.
@truecross4090 Жыл бұрын
If only the centaurs trample ability was a free action. You could run them over, attack them, yeet them behind you and into the air, they drop and take damage and you ran them back over with the rest of your huge moment speed. Roflmao.

So, I would use this on a loxodon or symic hybrid because first off they get extra limbs which they can use to shove and grapple opponents, and the loxodon lets you ignore dexterity to an extent making barbarians far less MAD.
