I finally realized why this movie is so amazing, It is just a movie of two girls enjoying time with kind and loving creature enjoying the world together. There is no protagonist or antagonist, or any horrible events that cause you to worry too much. You just enjoy Totoro and the girls together. Truly an amazing movie.

Those little girls in this movie and father too went through a sad time. Worrying about their mother. Tortoro comes and helps the children. The scene when growing the trees made me tear up. And I'm a big guy but this scene always gets me. Because it's so beautiful. The gentle creature that is tortoro and the little girls that sorta look up to him. This movie needs to be brought back. Now I didn't watch in the credits but the mom does get better and looks like the two girls have siblings. This movie is beautiful.

Feels incoming So, when I was a little kid, my mother got me into Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and Ponyo. I loved this movie as a kid and I would watch it almost every other week. It was when I turned about 10 that I forgot about the movie. Now, about a year ago I had a dream about this movie. I woke up and started crying from nostalgia, thinking about my childhood, this movie, and everything came back so suddenly. I had to stay up all night to find this song, and when I did I cried. To this day, I still cry everytime I hear this song. If you are still here, thank you, it means a lot. Always keep your childhood close to you.

My Neighbour Totoro was the first studio ghibli movie I ever watched, and as a kid who preferred more action packed stuff, most of the movie flew over my head. I adored the catbus scenes, sure, and I was always paying attention when totoro was on screen, but the rest sort of... fuzzed our to me. So when I revisited it recently.... boy, totoro hits different. I lost my dad about a year ago to cancer, and seeing those little girls experience the emotions that I experienced (what if they never come home?)... ghibli has a very real way of showing these things. I’m glad that they got their happy ending.

I know my comment will get lost in the depths of the thousand stories other people have decided to share, moved by this piece, but that's what makes me want to share mine. This movie has played an extremely important role in my childhood. Ever since my dad introduced it to me and my little sister, one far summer evening, we both immediately fell in love with it. We watched it during lunch or dinner, whenever we were in the car, every time we were on a holiday. We used to pretend to be Satsuki and Mei looking for Totoro in the woods of our aunt's house. I turn 18 in a few months and right now it's really hard for me to see this movie again. Just hearing the voice of the two little girls brings me back to the smiles we had, the adventures we lived, all the places we have explored and the ones we haven't. But most of all it breaks me because I miss how things used to be and how my family overall was much happier. Even though my sister is now almost 15, I still tend to take care of her as Satsuki does for Mei, and I believe that despite the years passing she is and will always be the only costant in my life. This music is the anthem of my childhood: it makes me think that although I am the one who leads the way, she is my light and I could never walk this path without her.

Your story made me smile. After all, when I was little, I also tried to find something mysterious and amazing. And I still believe that there is something amazing that people have not yet been able to find. God created what we can see, and there is what he has closed from us. Who knows, maybe somewhere in the forest there lives a big and kind animal, which we have not met before.

Ashley Chan I'm the same author as the comment. The reason why I said this is because Japanese society has increasingly been Westernized, so that Japanese cultural expressions from its past, like music, appear less and less. For instance, a good portion of recent anime has shown a tendency to emphasize Rock music and use settings that don't have anything to do with Japan.

I think i know now why I cry when hearing Path of the Wind. It's because of the loss of our childhood. The loss of imagination, of being carefree, of not worrying about heartbreak, bills, jobs, etc. We, even at our worst moments, were just full of life and youth. Adulthood changes everything and I mourn for those lost days. But, we still have the Path of the Wind to bring us back to our younger days.

Sad incoming When i was a child i watched this movie like no tomorrow, i knew it by memory and always watched it with my family, mostly my father. I have to tell tho, my mother and father werent a happy marriage but my father always got me presents to make me not pay attention to that. My father bought some totoro limited editon figurines straight from japan and i didnt know why but he hid them, i knew where thwy were but i didnt play with them because they seemed important. I have to recall that my father always was good to me and loved me with all his heart, we played with legos and built papercraft houses, but he changed. Since the divorce he started to get distant and strict, he wasnt him anymore, he got a new spouse and married her (she is great tho) and didnt even told me, she gave birth to my new sister and it seems that she is loved even more than me but im happy for her. When we moved out with my mom to the other part of the country we didnt see eachother that much, but in one of my vacations there, he gave me the figurines, he had saved them for me. I wanted to cry and hug him, but he is not the same person anymore, but the memories were still there, he isnt caring anymore but i still love him. I just wanted to say, that i love you dad, even if you dont love me anymore, you are not the same anymore, but i still love you, and would be happy if you just told me that everything is gonna be ok and that you love me. I just want to be happy again you know?

This has got to me one of my favorite tracks. It's so inspiring, and it really makes me want to go and sketch out some characters of my own and write a beautiful story like this one. Studio Ghibli is a big part of my life, and I'm very highly influenced by it, in fact, it's the reason I want to study animation in college. I one day want to make an anime movie as good as this one. :)

Watched it for the first time March 29th, 2023 (leavening that so I can remember when I grow old) and it was honestly a beautiful movie. While it didn’t have a huge plot, it was a serene and tranquil experience to say the least. It was… a journey. Just the feelings I got from this song alone made me tear up thinking about it the ride home. It feels like aim coming home for the first time after being away. Thanks Miyazaki.

I remember first watching this movie when I was younger, my dad had left to go to Afghanistan again and I was sad but then my mother said she had something that would cheer me up. We watched this movie and when this song played I made my mother replay it so many times. This movie is just- ugh, it makes me so happy and sad at the same time. I watched this movie again for the first time in a while, and I'll admit that I cried. A lot.

When I was 4, my parents bought me the My Neighbor Totoro books. I liked it so much that they got me the DVD a year after. I had almost forgotten this movie completely, until I suddenly heard it after a while. I immediately searched the internet for it and as soon as I heard it I cried. There are no words to describe how much nostalgia this brings back from my childhood.

I never knew I was missing out such a masterpiece till tonight. I just finished watching this masterpiece. And yes this is a masterpiece. I can't help myself but to call it a masterpiece everytime! The story, music, animation is everytime one needs to calm their soul and mind. Now I realised, every night when I used to feel uneasy about a certain thing, it was totoro who used to soothe my anxiety. We all had a Totoro watching over us when we were small. And I still beleive that they're watching over us ♥️

I have very fond memories of watching my neighbor Totoro and ponyo at my grandparents house with my siblings when I was very young. It is incredible how rewatching these movies as a young adult I still feel the same exact way when I was 6 years old. My sister and I had a good cry to this piece the other day. God bless Hayao Miyazaki and all of his work.

I lost my one and only, this used to be her favourite. She loved every single studio ghibli animation and that love made me fall for it even harder. Now I sit in my room listening to this, it’s been a year and I am still here. The 7 years worth of memories are still implanted in my mind, heart, and soul. Never heard anything as beautiful as this. I could never love again because my heart only knows of one love. That one person i could never be cold towards as she showed the true warmth in heart. Tears are relentlessly flowing and yet I am still here living in the shadows of that love. It used to be me and her against the world, now half of my world is missing. If you’re seeing this, I will forever be in love you issa

The first time I watched this movie was a trip tbh. It was super late at night on a weekend and I was home alone. My family had been meaning to watch it with me, as they all had, but we were all busy with work and school, so we never had time to. I decided right then to watch it on the tv in my kitchen. I made a little bed with a couple chairs, got a snack, some blankets, and started watching. I’m pretty sure I was in seventh grade, and I was super stressed. I was a terrible student, I even had 14 missing assignments at one point. I was doing better at this point, but constantly thinking I had missed something. I was still worrying at the beginning of the movie, but as it continued, my stress began to melt away as I followed the story of this family and a big, sleepy, gentle, kind brute. All this movie is is wholesome, and not many movies are like that. This movie is beautiful. Anyway, I’m gonna get back to my AP human geography homework.

I will never forget the night I fell in love with this movie It was a little over a year ago, i was 11 almost 12, yes i am young, i know. My mom came home saying she rented My Neighbor Totoro I wasn't interested even though i love spirited away and ponyo etc. One night i was bored, put the disc in and fell in love, It was like a spell, I was like hypnotized! I woke up the next morning full of it, I had to tell mom about it! 2 days later we rereturned it, and i was so upset We rented it again 2 more times but thought that was a waste of time I asked my grandmother for it for Christmas and got 2 discs, mom gave me one and grandma, it was funny And then rented the cat returns, I'll get to that later!!!
