I had this idea about bulletproofing my bicycle tires agains little pricks and anomalies that cause flats, so I thought to give it a try.
So the idea is to take a plumbing insulation pipe, cut it along one side, and place it inside the tire, and have the inner tube reside inside that insulation pipe. This way we'll have plenty of material between the tire and the inner tube, and any pointy objects like nails or thorns, will be short enough to never reach the inner tube. They usualy are.
Something like a soft shield, to get between the inner tube and the object. That insulation is light enough so as not to cause any drag in our cycling, and to be honest, I haven't tested this before, so I'll tell you how it goes.
The insulation can be selected according to the tire width, and always cut it a little bit longer in length, so as not to leave any gaps inside.
For the record, the word "Fuite" you hear me say, is the word we use in my country for "flat tire", and it's French and it means "leakage".
