Don't worry, they're just gonna release newer, better versions 2 years from now that include the accessories we should have gotten with this release! Probably as part of a multi-pack with a brand new character that's necessary to complete a team. Y'all excited for the X-Force 3-pack that has Siryn v1 with an actual screaming head, Feral and a re-released Cable with some deco tweaks and new accessories?

You’re right on the money, Dave. He should’ve had a “Yippee! I’m bouncing around in a kinetic field” expression. Not the one that looks like his costume is a bit to tight in the crotch. And the hands - c’mon Hasbro. Splayed fingers would have been more appropriate. I’m not sure what they could have done to simulate his kinetic field but look what they did for Havok. I feel your pain, Dave. Having spent 4 years with this dude I was really looking forward to this. Ah well …

I'm with you on the expressive faces, but I think we're in the minority, as everyone & their mother have been complaining about the expressions on Maggot & Bonebreaker... And lack of hand variety is my complaint with EVERY toy company. Weapon holding hands need up/down hinges, not side/side; everyone needs fists, EVERYONE (insert Gary Oldman from The Professional impression, since I know you like doing those lol); and then everyone needs some form of open hands, character-specific, be it splayed, power-wielding/clawed (think Black Panther type of hand pose, and only claws if character-specific, obviously), or even just relaxed/weapon-supporting.

Wait till Hasbro sales plummet they've changed the packaging and increased the price in the UK by £10 so average price before was £24.99 and are now £34.99 which I call throwing salt in you're eyes Hasbro are taking a big steamy dump on the collectors.

I agree, Hasbro could have given us a more emotional facial expression. However I don't think it's a blank expression. I get, "chill," from the expression. Other that that, I think it's a pretty cool figure.

@@tombowling8646 Increasing? I doubt it. They may be lowering costs to see if that will increase their revenue. We'll see in a couple of years if all regular releases come with 6 sets of hands 😆 True they have some people on the hook that will buy anything they poop out, but there's no way they are increasing their profit by making poor marketing decisions. I speculate they're simply meeting the status quo and hoping for a better year in 2023. Hence the irregular price increases. This is just my humble opinion. 😉

I'll admit, I'm one of their sucker customers. I swore off Marvel Legends... then I saw the Firelord pre-order and guess what? I took it, hook, line and sinker.

A grand review, good sir. I agree with you, it is great we have him but imo Hasbro dropped the ball on him. Yet I'm still looking forward to receiving my preorder. Now I know why they are going plastic free on the boxes, so we can't be disappointed so quickly when the figures don't have additional accessories........lol.

The lack of accessories being packaged with what are becoming very expensive figures is pretty ridiculous. Hasbro loves to slap fans in the face as often as they can manage. I'm not a huge fan of Speedball, so the smirking face they can get away with for me, but no extra hands? It wouldn't be so bad if the design on them wasn't so intricate, making it very difficult to customize other hands to use with him, but replicating that design, at least for me, would be damn near impossible.

I hope the next time the Hasbro guys do their media rounds that Dave or one of the other KZbinrs ask them about this. Isn't it Dwight's job to point this stuff out during the design phase? I get the challenges of budget, but he should be making sure that they are producing good figures within the budget.

It is because of the lazy sculpted missed assignments that totally stopped me collecting this wave. I think I only got two of this wave, and speedball was not one of them. the funny thing is I also have most of the new warriors, missing night thrasher.

There's plenty of blame to go around. At this point, Marvel has enough molds (hands, feet, weapons, heads, etc.) that it should not be an impediment to provide extras with EVERY character that is sold. And please spare me the talk of pandemic, recession and cost of goods having anything to do with your lack of respect for the fan base. Marvel arbitrarily adds extra heads, hands to some figures while completely neglecting others. But alas, we continue to pay for the merchandise so.....

It's like the Siryn figure. She literally needs to be screaming to be able to fly, they gave her windswept hair like she's flying.. but then her face is totally calm and looks like she's about to fall asleep. I know Marvel has a million characters and the people designing these figs can't be experts on all of them. But I'd wish they'd take like two minutes to google a character and learn about them first.

I completely agree with everything you said. That's why, though I wanted him, I didn't give Hasbro my money for this figure. Syren as well. With some of the great head sculpts they have been producing ( Hammerhead, Sandman, AOA Sabertooth Ect.) there really isn't any excuse. It's confusing to me because you would think there should be a fan or two of these characters that would speak up. A creative consultant of sorts that knows a thing or two about Marvel characters 🤔 Right?

Guys I’ve wanted a speedball but I’m simply not buying this. All of you need to stop being completionist and just accept that some legends are better than others wether it’s the accessories or the body. I won’t buy any older bucks like the guys recently on Bucky cap. I’m only buying the good ones and I have no problem not building guys like controller. Speedball's expression looks like someone listening to a graduation speech. Kind of bored, but sticking it out until the end. lol. It's a real shame that the designers at Hasbro don't seem to understand the characters in comic books. Combine that with Hasbro's choice to always skimp out and cut corners whenever possible, and it makes for a lot of disappointment. Hasbro rarely ever gives us anything extra or above and beyond, and their constant lack of wisdom in making figure design decisions just astounds me. A budget is a budget. I understand that, but that doesn't mean you can't be creative. That doesn't mean you can't deliver solid product that gets the job done to satisfaction. I mean, I don't even understand that Speedball figure's hair line??? It's just a straight line going across horizontally. Speedball always is portrayed with a widows peak in the comics, so even that little bit makes no sense. Ugh.

I freaking love this character so much, he’s literally in my top 10 favorite Marvel Superheroes. So as one of 5 people who is actually a fan of this character I will have to agree with you Dave and say he is very VERY underwhelming. As you said it costs them nothing extra to do things correctly but they done Hasbroed the crap out of him. Sometimes HOW a character is drawn is more important than the details on the costume itself. Speedball is drawn as a young, free-spirited wild man who loves being a superhero and acts before he thinks. He’s really crazy and odd but he has fun doing what he does. That being said, this figure is so basic. He’s very unexpressive, which feels extremely out of character. Anything, even an open pair of hands would’ve made him better.

Maybe it is because when Hasbro does something right, they can really do a great job - Jigsaw. But when they get it wrong - man, do they screw up big time. No interest in Speedball but I was curious to query my go-to online site - he is going for $35.99 + tax (CAN$)! Hasbro's making it more difficult for us adult collectors to remain faithful.

I understand your frustration with the headsculpt, but I think that Hasbro is trying to err on the side of caution. I gurantee if they had given this figure an extreme smile or goofy expression that Marvel Legends fans would crucify the Hasbro design team for that as well and say "they should have given us a neutral/serious headsculpt, because I can't display this character with anything else..." 🤷‍♂️ damned if you do, damned if you don't. Shame that Hasbro is releasing recent Legends figures that don't accurately represent the box art. No powers effects, no necessary interchangeable parts like Speedball's happier face and open hands here. And then STILL charging you more with their price hikes! Guess McFarlane isn't the only one releasing "incomplete" figures. The only way HE'S costing you an arm and a leg is by sheer volume of figures released. McFarlane DC train has no brakes. Although, with his (much) lower cost, and finally putting more accessories in near future releases, his figures have WAY more value per dollar than Legends if Hasbro is going to continue to do things like this, AND hike up the prices. Shame they thought to punish everyone who stayed to make up for undoubtedly losing their MOC/MIB collector base due to going plastic-less. It's like Hasbro rolled out a long piece of paper and is going down a list, checking off every bad business decision they can make. Shame. I only got into Legends about 2 years ago. Way to strike down new fans.......and PAYING CUSTOMERS!
