Pathfinder Deities - Nethys

Up next in the Core Twenty series, we're moving right along to Nethys, the god of magic.
Nethys, the all-seeing eye is a mad god who's mind was shattered when he ascended to divinity. Each half of his conciousness represents one of the natures of magic: protection and destruction. As if that didn't make him cool enough, he is also the patron god of Osirion, the Pathfinder version of egypt.

my headcannon is that Nethys went a little bit insane when he ascended because he realized that he is a part of fiction

I like this a lot. That's why Irori does not get along with him. He keeps trying to convince him that everything is fictional. "How can you know so much and not be able to see we are part of a game. NO! I'm not taking in metaphors! We're actually made up plot elements in a game! We're not even the important parts. The gods are just window dressing for those adventures just starting out right there." Pointing to Otari, Cassomir, Whitethrone, Vigil and Nex all at the same time.

I have to wonder something on witches. Since one of the ways they increase their spell list is eating spell scrolls and therefore destroying a writing of magic do followers only learn new spells outside of leveling by other familiars, or are scrolls okay due to them being designed to be destroyed?

Interesting question. I assume the consumption of scrolls is allowed since they are intended to be destroyed upon use, and consuming the scroll would allow for the magic to be used more than once. A character concerned about this might make a habit of crafting copies of any scrolls their familiar consumes to make things equal.
