Well, I can now say this build is pre-nerf! steamcommunity.com/games/Pathfinder_Kingmaker/announcements/ The assassin leader got nerfed, the wolves got changed. The wolves were the only real issue for this build, so rejoice, it just got a lot less frustrating.

How far has this build taken you so far? The next few fights at Oleg's must be brutal...especially since the NPC you're trying to protect basically dies in 1 hit.
@haasgaming6 жыл бұрын
Marc L Luckily if they die you're fine as they get back up anyway! You can also reset combat by walking up north so you can get the engagement, it's not that hard if you do it that way.

I appreciate you sharing your tips - you're obviously really skilled and know a lot about the background of these types of games. Very inspiring for a noob like me. I don't want to copy you, so I am doing some research to try and figure out what I can build to compete on unfair. Glad you were able to get past the wolves pre-nerf. I hope you're the first to finish this difficulty! Good luck.

At times I feel like a masochist for even playing on normal Encountering a group of three random Owlbears, did I mention Enraged Owlbears?, on my lvl 6 party. We were tearing everything else up, thought we'd be fine, then looked at their stats and realized that they were hitting my 34 AC fighter with almost every hit, and dealing almost 25% of their HP per attack, with apparent multi-attacks per round...lol I even cast Blur on the Fighter, they still went down in a single round. I'd thought, prior to this, that the random group of Ferocious Worgs + a Greater Werewolf were hard (they KO'd half the group, was not expecting them, had not rested, and no buffs on party, lol), but even all of the buffs meant nothing against dem evil Owlbears.

Playing Unfair, some of the boss fights (that one camp in kobold area, that one tree-bear in temple area and several others) are devastating as hell :D Though, from the OG - I only kept Linzy and Amira (I know she is garbage, but I just love hearing her scream BLOOD FOR GORUM!!!!), all others are mercs, which makes the game a LOT easier since pre-made are kinda crappy xD Especially Valerie, tower shield class is stupid to start with and having a tower shield specialist with low DEX is heart-breaking

Animal companion is really strong in prologue and most classes should be relatively strong with it. I had several failed runs before I tried a Mad Dog barbarian which succeeded first try with both the first hard fight in the library (2 archers one daggerguy) and the final tutorial fight. I still got blown up vs bandits part 2 with the archrers permaing for ridicolous 90+ damage.

Funny, though I am not a min-maxer, the second time I played PF (tabletop), I made a cleric that used *Hand of the Acolyte* with an *Earthbreaker* maul (2d6 +Wisdom is big for initial damage, and I could pump it to 3d6 with some other buffs like Enlarge). I min-maxed that with a Buckler which is allowed in PF and older D&D editions (nb: as a DM, I would make sure that wielding a two-handed weapon procure good damage to counterbalance the lack of shield i.e. tweak weapon damage if needed [eg. 2d6 instead of 1d12], whether it be PF1 or D&D5). Anyhow, *Inquisitor* is an awesome class and is the first I ever played in PF. I used mostly a bow and bow Feats. Speaking of, in PF, a Fighter with a bow can become an insane DPS monster.

It is worth to mention that True Strike doesn't guarantee a hit. Twice now I have relied on it for a Scorching Ray killing blow, twice now I rolled a 1.

Haas, glorious vid, no jokes! Btw, saw your twich vid with you willing to create Dex Orc Duelist and there one interesting thing - aldori dueling sword being one-handed scale its dmg as two-handed because if the second hand is free PC holds the dueling sword with two hands thus using full Str to calculate damage. Also Val has an exotic prof cos bastard sword is an exotic weapon

Yup! Sadly Weapon Finesse/Slashing Grace does not seem to count for 1.5x damage through dex, so you do lose that small bonus that route.

By to look of this game and after reading up some stuff on it witch said its a dnd game with a kingdom managing aspect I made a social focused rouge with deceitful and sneaking as my first 2 feets and a ton of charisma and intelligence And I set it on the the highest difficulty because that is how I play my games No joke this was my first experience with this game
@bernard6376 жыл бұрын
Literally did the same thing. On challenging mode now. Could probably swing hard but I would have to make a broken build and I really want to play as a charisma rogue with the storyline companions. Unfair pretty much isn't doable.
@Dudebrotheguy6 жыл бұрын
I think its a bad idea for the game to keep some of the pointless mechanics from the pnp(like camping, fatigue and spells per day) but lose the interactivity of a pnp(like trying to talk your self out of fights, using clothing to blend in, coup de gras on a triped enemy and a ton of good ideas they could have had ) Hell Tyranny did a better job of adapting this kind of fighting system and that was years a go
@bernard6376 жыл бұрын
i mean you could always play rogue for sneak attack bonus to tripped enemies and there is also attack of opportunity against them. I thought that too about the DnD games but pillars of eternity 2 got rid of the rest system and it completely unbalanced the gameplay and made it too easy. i think the game is pretty solid as is in all honesty, but you definitely have valid points.
@Dudebrotheguy6 жыл бұрын
But that is the problem, the difficulty comes from the busy work and needles limitation And why are the limitations implemented? They don't enrich or improve the game, you could use the dark souls excuse and say that having to menage within the limitations is fun but why not have an option to turn it off Turn off camping, limited spell use thing and lingering effects after battle(like dex reduction or permanent blindness) Idk my problem was/is that it is almost a game I would like but than I have to go back half way cross the map so some one from my party can talk to me about a problem they have in the throne room and I get more frustrated than when I have to watch a 20 min missfest because my tank can't be hit but he also can't hit I downloaded a trainer just so I can use speed up time function(hell baldur's gate had that)
@bernard6376 жыл бұрын
@@Dudebrotheguy just enable console and use the rest cheat and I think you will enjoy the game more. Or use a program called cheat engine which gives you a speed hack to run back and forth from town super fast. Really saves a lot of your time.

Why are the enemies AC so high at low levels?, junk mobs have AC of 22. ALL mobs hit for at least +5 and you can easily find mobs hitting for +13. Before I hit level 4 I encountered a enemy that had an AC of 30+ and was hitting for +17 in the same zone I was easily dispatching all the other enemies. Game looks wonderful, but is woefully imbalanced. Levelling up is a chore not a pleasure.

Might be your stats. These sorts of games encourage a min/max style build where you dump the ones you don't need and pump the good ones. Most of the classes are pretty solid.

@Blight-fp3vt6 жыл бұрын
I dunno, I played that exact class and reloaded a lot less with towershield fighter. First fight after the prologue are 3 wolves with the drop on you and quite close. I'd be interested to see how you went with that fight considering your reliance on pre-fight setup.
@haasgaming6 жыл бұрын
Variance, I suppose, but this should definitely have a lot less variance. First time I went through I think I reloaded 2 times max prior to the boss room, 30 minutes tops (with puzzle, looting etc). Rolling 2d4+9 for 14 average hits is a pretty quick way to clear a mob within a second, then you have 2 melee (Linzi, Smilodon) that are doing 4-5 hits per round and missle barrage gnome if you need it. Final boss fight is a joke with this, relatively speaking, as you can blow up two immediately triggering the Barbarian and do clean-up. Wolves are the toughest part, without a doubt. Pure AC Fighter would be better there for sure. Supposedly those are getting nerfed, so once that happens I dont see how this wont always be faster though. Wolf fight wasn't too bad once I switched my party to Valerie/emo elf but with Linzi/Eeyore the Dwarf it was pure hell as they couldn't do a damn either. Reload until you beat one wolf in initiative so you can hit him flat footed with Hands, gang up on him with everyone else, cast True Strike after Hands and gang up on the second. Repeat. #JustDontDie
@Blight-fp3vt6 жыл бұрын
HaasGaming Yeah boss fight I played through twice, barbarian was out before the fear was played, then it was just a cleanup. I get you for sure. I guess if you go ballistic with damage, you know if you have a chance at the fight or not after the first swing yes? Basically in the wolf encounter I imagine that you would of retried if you didnt score a crit or something within the first round?
@Blight-fp3vt6 жыл бұрын
In fact yeah i can see in that one, Ameri has managed to get off a charge, doing an insta kill on the first wolf before taking - I didnt realise that you could get rid of the bard from your party - wasnt she doing the journal. lol. I wonder if the barbarian can write :)
@haasgaming6 жыл бұрын

as someone who got to chapter 3 on challenging, i find that many builds were easier and less broken stat wise for that encounter, i got through to chapter 3 with zero revives with a magus archer and my best clear so far was with a human undead blooded sorc with double spell dc increase on necro, also gives you DR down the line which is amazing in case you want to go either turbo necromancer or death knight later on. Also 18 charisma on your main character and playing LE allows for some amazing dialogue options that work in your favor :P. But yeah there are quite a few builds that can deal with that as well or better, ray of enfeeblement and later on blind are amazing to have at +2 DC and allow for an amazing debuff necromancer, give him enlarge person, always enlarge Amiri and you are golden. Keeping valerie up front and always having her be the first to enter combat, keeping the rest back will increase your survival odds. I might have an unfair advantage here seeing as I GM 10-14 hours a week in Pathfinder and have been doing so for 4 or 5 years now.
@soulr91736 жыл бұрын
Please explain more on human undead blooded sorc with double spell dc increase on necro. And also "Also 18 charisma on your main character and playing LE" LE?
@Badbentham6 жыл бұрын
Tim Rippon DC means "difficulty class", and increasing "Spell DC" means that the spell is harder to resist. In our case, it adds 2 to the saving throw of the enemy; which is likely huge. Necro fits to undead blooded, human is great for stats, feats, and skills, especially if no specific requirements have to be met, and not in melee; - it is always a solid choice, though. Sorcerer`s main stat is Charisma, which makes it a great face character. Finally, LE is what every serious, and ruthless, aspirant in the Game of Thrones should be: Lawful Evil. ;)
