In this episode, we were so happy to spend time with Dana Sedlak (LCSW, CEDS-C) and discuss eating disorders and treatment in adolescents. It's sad because I had an eating disorder for most of my teen and young adulthood years. Now, that I am older, I've fallen back into the same issues. My PCP has tried tirelessly to find a therapist for me, but anyone she has reached out to either doesn't take my insurance plan (which is Blue Cross, the biggest payer out there), isn't taking commercial insurance, isn't accepting new patients, or you have to be a provider in their hospital network, in order to send a referral. I feel defeated. Here I am, willing to get help, and yet it seems no one wants to do so. It seems more about money, than helping the patient.
