Hello, just wanted to ask if ACILA covers the home care also? My employer is willing to sponsor under DAMA but I need to get a year experience first as a personal care worker and relocate to a more regional area away from perth. Can they use the ACILA or only DAMA?

Hi mate, while we do not offer RPL, you can undergo RPL if you did have at least 2 years experience as an individual support staff.

Thanks for this. If some one has more than two years experience as age career, can he/she apply for 186. According to this statement; Sponsor overseas workers for permanent residence under the Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) visa program. Workers must have at least two years of full time work experience in Australia in a relevant direct care occupation. The two years of work experience is not tied to a particular employer or visa subclass.

So can only the registered nurses get sponsored for the PR through 186 or can the aged care workers and personal care assistants also get the PR through 186? Otherwise are the personal care assistants sponsored only for the 482 visa(which is a temporary visa)?

Hi Aged Care workers can get sponsored, but it must be through a labour agreement. And it will usually always be the 482 first

Hi Chloe, yes it is a lot easier to find an employer willing to sponsor you if you are living and working for the company in Aus. A student or WHV is a great visa to allow you to do this

Hi, if I were to come to Australia on a tourist visa then got a job offer from a aged care centre, could I apply for the 408 visa? I read the immigration website, and I believe the answer is yes according to this: If you are a temporary substantive visa holder and apply for a COVID-19 Pandemic event visa on or after 21 February 2022, you may be eligible for this visa if, at time of application, you: - arrive in Australia on or after 21 February 2022 and have work rights on your substantive visa; or - have a job offer from a Commonwealth funded aged care service, even if you do not have work rights on your current substantive visa. I previously had a working holiday visa with an Irish passport which expired on June 2023. I will be applying for my second year holiday visa so I can activate it from July 1. Does that have any impact on me trying to get my 408 visa? Thanks, Karim
