For the Barbecue and Pool how are you placing the Standard Half because I can’t get mines to sit on the platform right

can someone help me out? this is gorgeous but I dont understand how he places the ottoman at 2min mark. I keep trying but there's gaps,. even placing multiples down (which is a cheat and he says no cheats). He some how adds but a thin line of the ottoman to make it fit. I do not understand! :(
