Emotions run high in this Patreon-exclusive episode as the gang covers a wide spectrum of topics. Joe starts by sharing a story of some wigs he bought for Melyssa before they discuss whether she is low maintenance after a planned trip was canceled. The JBP then unpacks one of Mel’s past relationships, if guy friendships are stronger than female friendships, + more!

People I hope you agree with me that this was such a heartfelt episode. So many people - including me - relate with Mel's situation and approach. We have been hurt so much that we cope by never really attaching, and detaching easily. It's unhealthy but we believe we need to do that to protect ourselves. And the one time we don't do that and let our guard down, we are disappointed so badly that we become even more guarded.

This episode was sooo fire!! I’ve learned something about Joe in some of these debates he has with Ish. Joe gives vague explanations of his views initially and then when he’s about to get pinned, he pivots his view, which changes the dynamic of the conversation. For this debate in particular, I gave it to Ish lol. Good stuff fellas! Mel’s transparency piece was insightful and I believe she helped a lot of people who struggle with pessimism.

She was shown to be rude and inconsiderate in this episode.. not bothering to send the wig back after joe went out of his way to send it to her.. not even bothering to respond. For weeks. Hella inconsiderate. Not bothering to respond regarding the braid connect either. That's clearly her get down.. Hella rude.. is that what you consider strong? Basically.. she asked for favors.. using her pretty privilege.. got them.. and ghosted.. as far as not responding.. then she talks about being upset.. that hee rich funny looking dude that she was in a long distance relationship with for a mere 7 months.. ghosted her. I bet he she was hella rude and inconsiderate to him as well. Id bet real money on that! Notice all she talked about was what she needed and what she was going through... She said nothing about what he needed... nothing.. And she has no idea how he experienced being with her. None....... How about we hold everyone accountable for their own bs.. even if they are pretty.. she is exactly where her personal choices led her to be.. Oh yeah... and she didn't even use the gdamm wigs he sent her. Which is Hella high maintenance..many of her points showed this.... she is not low maintenance.. which is perfectly fine.. shes a baddie.old baddie.. but still a baddie...she gets to be high maintenance.. but it does show lack of true self awareness.. and women with low self awareness, get ghosted...somebody is gonna have to tell em theyre trash.. butnit aint gotta be me!!!.. just saying.. I enjoyed this episode. Bless.

This is the low key the Flip that I love. Even on the main show he’s so emotionally attuned. His insights are mad profound because he’s genuinely curious. He cares about Mel like a big brother. One day maybe Joe will stops clowning him long enough for him to engage her thoughts. The show would get so much more out of Mel if they would let Flip cook. Mel, you and I should be besties. I’m loving how they are giving Mel the real about her relationship ending when her Mom was sick. She didn’t want to hear it but what they were telling her is the male point of view. Men and women think and respond to situations differently. She says dude handled it completely wrong and she’s entitled to her opinion but he did what was best for him and she doesn’t like it. Bet money the shoe has been on the other foot and she has hurt a man and not given a single damn. It really boils down to the fact that there’s no good time to reject a woman. And her being Melyssa Ford she isn’t used to not getting her way. She may be 40 but she’s still a bit naive. Just keeping it a stack.

Joe hit on something that went over everyone’s head. Low maintenance starts on the inside. It’s not about manicures and pedicures, but about effective communication and having worked through childhood trauma and issues and having a strong sense of self and not need external validation from others, etc. That’s low maintenance. Having inner peace is low maintenance because of a person is centered they not going to fold and they’ll be consistent in how they show up in the world and in relationships.

I really like Mel, she is smarter than what she knows. Its easy to tell love (from a partner) is missing. I hope she listens to the guys as I feel they give her good advice. Its not easy but I wish her peace.

At this point I don't think Melyssa will find the right man to settle down with. My heart goes out to her on her lost with her mother. If she was dealing with a man around the time she lost her and he left her I think that's f***ed up. Some ninjas are scummy like that. And Ish is right woman need a big brother to talk too.
