The artist says this is a tribute to SRV, I’m in. I think it’s wildly amazing, helps me escape and reminds me of Jean-Luc Ponty’s Egocentric Molecules. Best to not question the artist, just appreciate what he bestows upon us. ✌️

Okay, Robin, is it okay to ask you to do your version of Neil Young for me for my 65th birthday? It is on October 1. I will be at my brother’s house (no Wi-Fi) that day, but can watch at home. Any time would be fine in September or October. My birthday gift to myself….

Hi, Robin - I ended up on the Apple technical support line for 45 minutes just so I could figure out how to download the music I bought onto my Mac! I ended up getting pop-up windows that looked real and screwed me up. For anyone interested: the Bandcamp app really is just for phones, not computers. You have to go through the Bandcamp website for a desktop. The job tomorrow is to figure out PayPal.

I haven’t even been on the street since September 2019. Busking was banned in 2020 and it’s doubtful I will ever go back to it because it was too much stress. Since I had my brain aneurism in April I’ve got to watch my health, keep blood pressure low. Meanwhile I’m still catching up on posting three years worth of busking videos.

Neat jam, I sure wasn't expecting you to play behind your back, but I also didn't hear what I call Texas two step riffs that Stevie used to rip out of his guitar. I understand he used extremely heavy strings to get that twang that immediately let you know who was playing. Lucky enough to have seen him in Austin. Glad to see you feeling better my friend. Jam on

that’s good! A tribute doesn’t mean I have to copy a style. I don’t copy anyone. It’s a tribute to him done in my own style. The last thing the world needs is another idiot clone wearing a hat and copying all of SRV’s licks.

@@shatnershairpiece just asking but how is it a tribute then? What I've heard usually is a tribute being in the style of a particular player
@shatnershairpiece
@shatnershairpiece 3 жыл бұрын
@@aadityakiran_s Sometimes. But you can make a tribute to the spirit of a band or person without sounding like them. In fact, it would be wrong to copy a style when you have your own style. let’s look at some examples. Robben Ford did a tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan and his brother and called it ‘brothers’. It did not sound anything like Stevie Ray Vaughan or Jimmie Vaughan.
@jeremyreid9582
@jeremyreid9582 3 жыл бұрын
@@aadityakiran_s i understand what you are saying. If an artist wishes to offer a tribute to another, there is no defined boundary within which the tribute must be restricted. Art does not conform, nor should appreciation. Robin is freely expressing himself on a guitar, an instrument that was also played by SRV. He plays his guitar well, and with a unique tone. As did SRV. Nowhere did Robin state that he was going to play any ‘covers’ during his SRV. tribute. I trust that you will relax now, sit back and just enjoy the beauty within Robin’s tribute to SRV. Peace brother/sister 🙏🏼🕉☯️☮️
