As a man, when you've been married for a few years, you rarely listen to what your wife is saying, and the reason is because they don't say anything that is worth listening to. Many years ago, when I was still working in construction and my wife was working in a bank, she'd come home from work and tell me the most boring things that happened at work that day. She'd say things like, "I had this customer come in today to make a deposit, and he didn't fill out his deposit slip, so I had to do it"....or, "I had to take my lunch break 10 minutes late because we had a surge of customers come in, right before my lunch break." My wife would ask me what happened at my workplace that day, and I'd say, "Not much". One day she asked me why I never shared what happened at my workplace, and I'd say that there wasn't anything worth mentioning, so she said, well something interesting must have occurred, so tell me. I said, do you really want to know what happens at my workplace, and she said yes. I said "okay, we had an ironworker slip off the roof of the conveyor that he was working on, and he fell 100 feet to his death. They shut the jobsite down for 3 hours while they investigated the incident. Last week, a painter was painting the steel beams in the ceiling of the structure, when he slipped off of the beam that he was sitting on, and fell 90 feet to his death, so they had to close the jobsite down for a few hours to investigate that incident. Is there anything else you want to know?" After that, she stopped telling me what happened at her workplace.

Dude you hit the nail on the head congratulations you're a carpenter. My girl is the same, cute, smart and once in a blue moon can be funny but my God, she wants to talk about everything, know everything, it's like can we not. Because when we talk, i make her laugh, she's having a good time, but thing about talking with most women, they feel some competitive urge to be as good as you, in whatever way they feel. So eventually the conversation turns sour cus most women don't understand how to have a conversation without taking things personally. Its always has to relate to them personally in some way where most guys are know just talk about shit, we can talk about the weather and make it funny cracking jokes and puns but give most women even the most interesting topic to discuss and it would be the dryest, and most agreeable discussion you will ever see. There's a reason why a lot of women shows and discussion they try not to offend each other when they talk, because most women get offended easily. Kind of went of topic there but for real its a gem if you have a girl that can be in the same vicinity as you and just do her own shit, not want to cuddle every 2 second and talk about every single emotion they feel every second 😂 hopefully she grows out of it or I'm gonna become one of those men patrice talking about.

I love this comment so much. I remember one time when I was 12 or 13, I slammed my fingers in my best friends mom's car door. She was like "OMG are you ok??" and I was like "YEP :)" I'm 38 and I've never broken a bone, but I still believe to this day, if I broke one in front of my mom/grandma, they would never ever know. My arm could be severed at the elbow and I'd be like "please dont worry, I just need a few stitches!" meanwhile in my head I'm like "THATS MY JACKIN ARM :("
@Janewski11
@Janewski11 2 жыл бұрын
@@metalmayhem3622 That's the thing...women will react to every little thing that happens to them, but men will not, because to men, the little things that happen to them, aren't worth mentioning, but for some reason, women think that they need to tell the man every little detail of what happened to them that day....so the man turns off what she's saying because he feels like it's not important, compared to what he's experienced that day. Most women have no idea what a man experiences in a day, and the man doesn't tell the woman what he's experienced, because to him, it's his own, private experience and that there is no reason to share that experience with the woman, since there is no way that she could understand that experience, so he just keeps it to himself. Another example is this...I recently underwent open heart surgery (I am an old man these days)...a double bypass surgery and a heart valve replacement. To me, it was no big deal, I mean, I was under anesthesia the whole time, and when I woke up, the surgery was over, so to me, no big deal. My ex-wife just underwent a knee replacement surgery, and she whines and complains it about it all of the time....as if it's the worst thing that she ever had to endure. God forbid that she ever has to undergo open heart surgery.

Thank you for understanding that's a big difference between us. Most guys have trouble processing complex emotions and don't want to talk while we're processing. Speaking for myself, I'll talk when I'm ready. If I'm saying I don't want to talk, it's to protect both of us because of I am forced to speak... it's not going to go well. Much better to let us process and then talk about it. And the alone vs by our ourselves thing: it goes to how men and women bond. If you see a group of male friends, they can sit in silence for hours having a wonderful time. Women... not usually so much. But being alone needs to be a choice. That's where the "not by ourselves" part comes in.

Patrice is right and you are also right. Women really likes to speak, they need someone to emotionally connect, even if verbally. Men love these 2 things : do something or think about something...and both requires him to be focused and not distracted. So therein lies the conundrum lol. ....i wasnt completely honest. THeres a 3rd thing, men also likes to chill and just zone out, especially after a hard days work. That also kinda mean hes really not a good listener or conversationalist at that time lol Men "wants his lady around" because he needs to be assured that she is safe and sound.

Patrice is 100% correct. It is really hard to love and like a woman because most of the time you don't respect any boundaries. For you, talking constantly about random gossip or how you feel about things is perfectly normal. For a man, you pressuring us to talk, especially about our feelings is like if a man pressures you for sex. Yet you'll do it over and over and over and over again regardless of how many times we tell you that we're not comfortable. If he let's you in at all then that's a major sign of trust. There's multiple reasons for this. #1 being that no matter what you say, being emotionally vulnerable with a woman is the biggest mistake a man can possibly make. If she doesn't use your insecurities as ammunition against you during an argument, then she'll gossip it to all her friends, spreading your deepest, darkest secrets to the entire town. That's if she doesn't immediately lose any and all attraction to you because before that, she viewed you as her rock and safety net and you just shattered that notion. #2 Is that we dedicate our lives to shielding you from the bitter realities of the world. Like the guy in the comments section whose wife was asking why he never talked about things that happened at work. Men work the dangerous jobs so you don't have to. We do the dirty, dangerous things so that you don't even have to think about them. Here's a list of things I've never, nor will I ever talk in detail to my wife about. The fact that I was so close to the Twin Towers on 9/11 that I could hear the bodies hitting the concrete from the people jumping out of the top story windows, how I spent the next month spitting black gunk out of my lungs from getting caught in the cloud, how body parts were strewn in the streets. The 8 years I spent in the Marine Corps, what combat is like, Marines that died in front of me, what its like to kill someone, how I planned to reinlist over and over again to somehow make it up to the Marines I lost because I had a major case of survivor's guilt, how many times that almost killed me, the day I almost died on my mom's birthday, what getting shot is like, what being peppered with shrapnel is like, how I wanted to quit my air addiction. I think I've made my point. All massively impactful events in my life that I will NEVER talk to my wife about. Ever. I'm her rock and her shield. I learned from my ex-wife that talking about those things will lead to another divorce. Even my own mother didn't want to hear about any of it. Which brings me to my next point. #3 Women claim that they're the more empathetic gender but you're not. You don't care unless something directly effects you or your children, even then if those children are male, you don't give a shit. I don't begrudge you of this, it's how you're wired and all of these dynamics are what made our species successful but it also means that even if you do get us to open up, you don't care, not really, you just want to go and brag about it to your friends because you've fetishized men's emotions just like men fetishize women physically. Sounds lonely, yeah? That's why we have our boys to figure stuff out with. That's why spending time with the boys and male only organizations are so damn important for men. It lets us decompress and let that shit out. All that stuff I could never tell my wife or own mother? Both my father and brother know everything. We went camping, brought some beer with us and I spilled it all, no judgements. It was them that helped me realize that I was going to end up dead if I reinlisted because I was just going to keep going until I was dead. We don't want or need to talk to to you. We need your affection, respect and an occasional acknowledgement of the things we do for you, not to tear open old wounds and relive the horrific things we go through so that you don't have to.

I really like your genuine and funny reaction. The Chinese have a Proverb "Happy Wife, Happy Home" and I can tell you that is why, as an older woman said to me, most Men "indulge and defer" to Women for an easier life because Men want relatively few things, and most are only interested in the important points, not all the chit chat and trivia and as someone wrote 40 years ago that on the phone most Women like to gossip and chit Chat while most Men say like to exchange information only. We do not need to know the minor details but many Women repeat stories of incidents IN REAL-TIME...haha.. My Mum summed it up after 2 hours on the phone when I asked her what she chatted about to my Female cousin and she said ...NOTHING IN PARTICULAR :):)

Agreed but you have to be in your early 30's tops. Is that right Callum ?

@@Isleofskye Well, I'm 32 so if you're referring to me specifically you're correct. Not sure what age has to do with being equals in a relationship, though.

Hi Callum. The reason I was spot on is that the "theory" and "practice" are 2 separate things as regards equality..In theory, you are right but in practice, you will discover over the next 35 years until you get to my 67-year-old London self that the pragmatic reality is not the same at all, much as I prefer your version. As a very wise Civil Engineer said to me once she qualified from Imperial College: "Men tend to defer and indulge Women"I have been single all my life but have been out with endless Ladies and many have "One rule for them and one rule for others" sometimes even sub-conscious and unwittingly. In my lifelong experience, most Women like "Selective Equality"...haha
@EnglishLad
@EnglishLad 3 жыл бұрын
@@Isleofskye "Selective equality". Precisely. Modern women want men to keep their traditional "husband" roles, but have no intention of ever becoming a traditional "wife". They want equality when it suits them, but not when it doesn't. They'll happily take full advantage of the priveleges that men give them, but when it comes to men having any form of masculine empowerment, they view that as oppressive. Herein lies the problem with modern dating.

Ladies, what Patrice means is that the less you talk to your man, the more he will like you once he loves you. He's 100% right. RIP dude.

8:35 I think that's pretty much it. You gotta work out a deal that works for both of you. Both sides have to make some sacrifices for the other person, or it's not a relationship. But if you're adult about it and work it out, it's better in the end. Oh and both sides have to be honest about what they feel, and sometimes that's tough cause the truth isn't always to peoples liking

If a guy tells a woman how he feels about *anything* she will realise he's sensitive about that thing and will use it as ammo in future arguments. Just saying.

Smart women, women successful in long term relationships typically can pick their timing well when they can chat or unload..know when to be quiet..being blunt! When he comes home from work..be quiet .just get him a beer and leave for a while. Let him do the things he likes..alone. watching the game..playing his game etc.. obviously not 7 nights a week but pick your time.

My wife wants to talk 24-7 and gets upset because I'd be perfectly happy actually talking every couple weeks for 20 minutes. It's funny hearing her talk though, she's central European but speaks with an English accent because her English teacher was British.

just to let you know, not all men are this way, there is the occasional very chatty man, but i realize I'm the exception rather than the rule. but the "don't want to be alone, but be by ourselves" still applies. also the "can't love you and like you" at the same time. it's a sort of a different love that a man has with his buds and his girlfriend. it's a mix of lust, expectation, resentments, excitement and boredom, growth and warmth. men love women because they expect more out of men, and help us reach our ideal selves ( and their hot). men like their friends because none of that applies, we can tell the poop story without worrying it will change things, we can talk about how we don't know the fuckk we are doing, and not get a shocked look, but a nod and a "same". and yes, this is all based on what a man thinks and his and societies expectations, rather than what women want or their version of events. if you want that to change, start making the first move more. this is also the inspiration for the term "bro's before hoe's. because your significant other knows the best you, while your mates know your worst you. and when your about to step in front of a lorry, you need somebody who knows the worst you.

Overcome it? Men are like that with each other too lol. I have 2 male roommates, and sometimes we go days without talking. Women are just, generally, more verbal. Also if you drop hints, we will miss about 85% of them lol. Just because, generally speaking, men are more direct. There are always exceptions of course, but its pretty true for the majority.
