I am literally just sitting here replaying her riff. I just keep restarting from 6:43 over and over again. I want it to be my ringtone, this is how much I love that riff.

I LOVE her defying gravity riff! also I think that here in australia we've had some fairly average galindas but some amaaaazing elphies, both jemma and patrice are fantastic.

I had lottery seats for this show and months later I still shake my head in amazement thinking about Patrice that night. She really threw herself into everything and it was a sad moment hearing her riff for the last time live. She had such a huge standing ovation at the end and it was really well deserved, just a shame Sydney didn't show her more love throughout her time with the show.

i honestly don't understand why so many people are hatin on this video! I don't even remotely see how this is at ALL bad. Patrice has one of the most unique and strong elphaba voices I've heard! C'mon people show some respect.

I think it's harsh to expect a performer to be perfect all the time. No one is, we all learned that from Idina's NYE and the very class way she explained who she is. Patrice probably feels the same way. They do their best and we appreciate it even more when they can bring it.

first time listening to Patrice Tipoki's... my god, she is absolutely brilliant! sounds abit like Eden Espinosa i reckon :D But the Glinda..is it Lucy Durack? don't remember her being that annoying to listen to..
@LarryEmdur10114 жыл бұрын
@gothtothemax Lucy Durack. The show is done with America accents and this is hers. She is really squeaky and high pitched, it gets very old after you have seen her a couple of times. She sounds amazing speaking in her real voice.

Ive been saying this for years! She set the bar but then literally every Elphaba after her can sing it way better
@asswhole23913 жыл бұрын
@RuckalltheFules It's not that high, considering the note she does is an A flat and the actually note is supposed to be a high F, plus it was her last performance so im pretty sure she can riff it up if she likes :)

I'm from the UK, so I've never really looked at the Australia videos before, but this girl sounds INCREDIBLE! That riff during the second "Defying Gravity" was amazing (and unheard before!). Amazing! Don't hate me though, but the Glinda sounds really annoying. When they are singing together, all I can hear is her squeakiness. Just my opinion though. Also, I've only got this video to judge from. She might be awesome live. Idk.
@danholbrook7945 Жыл бұрын
totally agree! - soo squeaky. I'm from UK too but I did see Wicked in Sydney and Melbourne a few years before this - I saw Lucy Durack & Gemma Rix and they were amazing.

Elphaba was amazing in this clip. She wasn't the problem as she hit every note beautifully. Galinda, however, sounds like a mouse here which is why it sounds like the clip is going so fast. The two of them singing together just didn't sound good, because all I heard was Galinda.

Whoever is playing Galinda is AWFUL. There's a difference between having a convincing character voice and doing it to death. I don't think I could make it through a whole show having to listen to that.

Justin Hogue Lucy Durack. The quality is absolutely horrid. I saw Lucy and Patrice in early 2010 and honestly, you could hear a pin drop at intermission. People stayed seated for a few minutes to get over the shock of that final note. I literally sat awe struck with my eyes stinging. Literally breath taking and dumbfounding.
