I feel like the ideal experience for this album is googling each artists name as their song comes up, and listening to it as you browse the image results and read their wikipedia article

I really like the way it really feels like a gallery of your work so far, yet is tied thematically together despite your style changing wildly from album to album

The point is that all the tracks are based off of 20th century artists but yeah that makes sense too.

Hey, doubt you'll ever read this and it doesn't particularly matter whether you do, but I'm an 18 year old from South Africa, and I've been around a lot of William Kentridge's work in my life. My parents have multiple prints of his in their house, and he's practically the star of every national art exhibition. His name caught my eye and the album definitely didn't disappoint. This is the type of music that motivates me to actually do something with myself, to create my own art. thanks

DAMN "Pablo Picasso" is a sick beat. the chopped piano, all these synths, everythings just great. if it had a bassline(because the entire song lacks one), it would be THE banger of 2018. really interesting 7/4 groove on "Cy Twombly", the guitar here adds a unique texture compared to the rest of the album. i like "Kazimir Malevich", i think the beat is rather too abrasive compared to the synth plucks and the arpeggio, but hard hitting beats with soft synths seems to be A Thing in this album so far, ill probably get used to it. that said, "Norman Rockwell" is a nice intermission after that song. and then we go into "Ingvar Cronhammar" with an even MORE banging beat, holy shit. the noises on this thing, lol. the slowly rising pad actually compliments this beat very well, it blends in well over time. oh the piano interlude in "William Kentridge" is awesome. i like this softer beat that fades in more than the other harsh one. the bass that comes in, holy shit this is a good one man. what the fuck even is this synth in Marcel Duchamp. its like, a whistle with delay on it? the lyrics are surprisingly inspiring. that bicycle rhyme, lol, come on dude. ooh it circles back to the first track? i guess ill replay the whole thing again then. i think i should just write a whole review, lol. wait, i just did i guess this is what youd call IDM? im only really familiar with Aphex Twin, but i still love this album. lots of greatly produced beats, interesting ambient tracks, the little touches of (i assume) live piano in some songs adds much needed harmony. would give a strong 8/10. im definitely going to be replaying "William Kentridge" over and over again for the next few weeks

JohnJRenns JohnJRenns JohnJRenns Yeah, it’s definitely got an IDM thing going on. I hear bits of Aphex (though more so his side projects or other aliases), Clark, Plaid, some textures that bring to mind Boards of Canada, even a little Squarepusher, and a bit of an iglooghost (more the “happy, quirky IDM” vibe I get from Igloo, not the manic insanity) thing going on (BTW, if you like IDM, and you enjoy this, you’re missing out by not being aquatinted with those other artists too). This might turn out to be my favorite of Erics works. Loving it so far.

the synth in kazimir malevich reminds me of being on like a roblox tycoon in 2015, which is oddly specific but it kinda just came up in my mind when i listened to it. all in all, i love this album!

This is amazing. I like how each track has basically no connection to the artist it's named after besides the general vibe. Also i have a question about the cover: is it based on that one apartment in new york thats just filled with soil? It really reminds me of that

@@SyankaCreature I lost track. Went back to listen to later works, but have never actually caught up. It's just too much material haha. Little Spoon really was an accomplishment, and I'm sad I didn't give it attention when it came out. I also love 16 Sketchbooks Ago. Wish she came back to that kind of abrasive pop she does so well.
