Great video and nice trick that can be helpful for newer player coming from Anno series or simpler games for example, but the approach feels a bit wasteful or naive once you have a little more experience with the game, doing it like that works but you are not taking advantage of the full potential of captain, especially their Trade skill, which at level 5 allows your captain to buy everything with a 10% discount, it doesn't sound like much but this can be a really huge loss of profit even more so over a long period of time, and all it takes to fix this is to just add a buying step to the route. yeah the ship will now stay about half a day longer at each cities but the 10% increase in profit really makes it worth it!

If you prefer you can also sell and buy goods directly to/from the market with the convoy instead of administrator. Because you'll get more discount/profit with high captain trading skill.

Thanks for watching! You are correct, you could do it that way and earn more money. The only issue I have with it is it is hard to manage once you get a lot of trade routes. The way I show is a very easy and effective way to manage your trade routes. It is easy to grow and easy to program the route, although like you said, you could earn more by direct selling. In the end this way makes so much money it does not make much difference, even on hard difficulty. So I loose a bit of profit but its easier to manage. I hope this makes sense. None of them are incorrect, some might work better then others and some will accomplish a certain goal faster than others. It all depends upon how you want to play. It is easy just setup the trade like in the video but change the town and the goods you want. If I am misunderstanding you please let me know and I can make a video for you if I cannot explain it properly.

I just remember this game coz of this vid. I was too young at that time. what I remember back then is taking malmo as my storage city because it reaches too many cities but I'm not sure if that's efficient. however, I will try again. I love this game. I nearly took an accounting major coz of this game but I ended up engr and still, I'm degenerate at the stock market as my side hustle.

When making your auto trade route look for the X beside the town your list. if you click on it, it changes. The X means go to this town. R means repair in this town, this is what you are looking for. Blank mean skip this town. It is confusing since at first glance you would think the X means delete this town but it does not. Thanks for watching and I hope this help.

Hello, I'm a new player in this game. I want to ask you a few questions about this game. 1. Is it necessary for every ship that joins a private convoy to have weapons and a captain? Or is it only the convoy leader who needs to have a gun and a captain? 2. I'm still in the early game, should I build Crayer first or Cog first? thank you😀

Thanks for watching really appreciate it! To answer your questions. 1. To make a convoy you need to have 1 ship that meets the weapon requirement, a captain and crew. Then you can make the convoy with that single ship. To join a convoy the ships only need a minimum crew. 2. I like Crayers the best for one reason. They are fast and can out run pirates most the time. Cogs are slower and the pirates may catch them. Thanks again !

​@@OldGamesOldGuySo I can make a convoy of three ships and only one ship has weapons and a captain while the other two ships don't have any weapon or captain, right? is it safe when pirates attack that convoy? or is it better if all the ships (three of them) that joining the convoy have weapons?

@@balcanrow Yes you are correct you only need 1 ship. The pirates can steal your goods or even sink ships. But if you use Crayers they usually out run then with little damage. I usually play the game with pirates on easy and I ignore them mostly and they rarely hurt my ships. In harder pirate difficulties however they can really disrupt your trading. If you want to try and get free ships then I would put weapons on all the ships so you can capture pirate ships instead of building your own.
