In my opinion, I think fluctuating prices are because of him actually sitting at a table Friday night instead of drinking and he's actually reading cards from his collection and playtesting. Call me stupid, but thats what I think.

Honestly, the only reason why I didn't like Patrick was because he played Dragons last format and I just saw him as another Dragon player that topped and he thought he was good but seeing him top with Mermails makes me a respect him more now. Mermails is a skilled based deck where there are so many plays and you choose a play depending on which situation you're in and if you do the wrong play it'll punish you in the long run, so good job, Patrick.

At first I had my doubts about this deck when i played beside him at YCS, but it obviously flows really well and me being a huge mermial player I can respect it. And I could try something similiar with this in an upcoming event. I'm not sure how i feel about the emptiness mained tho, I think maybe side them or dyna cause i personally love dyna. anywho, my deck has always been based on blowing my opponents shit up, establish control with gaios, etc. win. this build seems more of build up then explode which is similar to Hieratic Rulers, so I believe its worth a shot. Congrats to Hoban for topping yet another big event(I think he sold his soul to Yami Yugi) lol

For the people saying how he beats so and so deck. Let me remind u this is an arg event where so and so deck wont survive that long. He knew what event he was going to and played the cards necessary to win said event. And as for the regional he participated in im sure the so and so decks would have less chance of surviving due to whats popular right now.

I have a couple of question 1 is teus really woth his spot at 3x? since you run a much more Rank4 oriented "Control and combo" kind of list (and i agree with that) could it be played to 2? you can make him more useful with the ocea, but i see why you dont play her... 2 why no 2x SHArk? it sounds really good in this kind of deck, where you can switch between aggro combo play (and he is the best rank4 you can do in combo scenario, get a monster off of the field and do 2100 damage) and control mode (get a SSed monster out of your opp field and have a smaller maestroke with lots of backrows). 3 (this may sound obvious, but i dont understand) why not 2 Main deck MST? Overall a really cool concept, i love how Hoban builds and i think he really understand this game's mechanic (and not jsut because he is winning a lot).

Many reasons. Its affect his Abyss sphere, drawing power (reckless), and he can chain MST (from hand) to soul drains activation during his turn instead of waiting an extra turn to negate.

For no infantry & veiler being bad against brofists and gears; what did he mean by they "simplify the game-state"? Did he mean that he doesn't like discarding cards because hand advantage in mermail is key? Or did I misunderstand? -Troy

Geargia and brofists like 1-for-1s. Mermails want to advance the game state rather than keeping a certain tempo since they are more of a combo deck that can falter in the grind game.

if you play in an event with like 10 rounds, you can get your cards mixed if they are in the same sleeves at least in one round, if you make that mistake, its a game loss instantly, if not match loss, i have had opponents who counted my cards after i was done siding, so its recommended that you have different color sleeves for your side, so there is no mess-up involved.

zenmaines355 thats all fine and dandy for an arg event but in an official konami event(usually regional and higher..nobody truly cares at locals) your main and side must match.

set linde line dies get pike pop back row search anything or gun normal rank for boom clears ophion or do the play pike and turge that he explains in the video its the new main play of the deck and make a rank for by turn 2 and win, also evilswarm isn't a deck gk, fire fist, bujin and harpies are in the meta
