So happy for this video Patrick! 😁 I’ve been really enjoying your paintings on Facebook, oils seem so fun and you have a beautiful sense of light in yours. From my experience people want to see YOU, regardless of the medium you’re using (: Will be looking out for more vids 🙏🏼

Thanks Liron, the comments have been lovely and really encouraged me. It’s interesting how many people feel using a different medium can help improve your main painting medium. It’s seems like your channel as gone developed well over the last year, rightly so with the excellent videos you make. Thanks again and all the best.

Patrick!! It's so great to see you back and looking so well. These paintings are gorgeous and so full of light and energy. Of course I've missed your watercolour videos but would be so happy to watch, learn and grow from your oil painting videos. It all comes down to seeing and expressing that vision, doesn't it and as well as skills I've learned so much from you about having and individual way of seeing the world. I started with oils when I began painting but had to stop quickly since I have a sensitivity to chemicals. I'll have a look at water soluble paints and perhaps give it a go since I so love the light particular to oil painting. I haven't been on youtube in over a year since the heart fell out of my watercolour world when my chemical sensitivities worsened for a long window of time. I'm beginning to paint again but slowly. Here are a couple of Canadian oil painters I have always loved: Lawren Harris, Doris McCarthy and the one I think you might like best - Emily Carr. None of these are contemporary. I' would send you off a message on Facebook but I am not on FB. Perhaps when your website is up there will be a way to contact you there. Again - wonderful and inspiring work, and great to see you again! Patricia

Hi Patricia so lovely to hear from you. I’m sorry to hear about your continuing allergies it must be so frustrating. I’ve had so many lovely comments today it’s blown me away,. I’ve replied to everyone so far ! Have you tried pastels ? Maybe you could work more easily with those especially when your feeling more sensitive. Thanks for the heads up on the Canadian artist I will definitely check them out I have so much to learn. As soon as the website is finished ( next week) it will be easier to communicate. Take care.

Hellooo Patrick! So good to see you pop up again. Love your oil paintings, so happy you've found another medium. I remember Joni Mitchell (poet, singer-songwriter, artist) saying she has to switch off periods of writing and painting, that for her it's like "crop rotation", that one enriches the other. It certainly kept her putting out some remarkable, beautiful work. Best of luck to you in your own 'crop rotation."

Good to see you back, bad years give us an opportunity to take stock of what we really want to do. I was a reluctant watercolourist having given up pastels when cataracts robbed me of the ability to differentiate colours. A miracle op has fixed the problem and I am now excited to get back to pastels. We need that senses of excitement to enjoy creating, hence your lovely oil paintings. I won’t be following you as we are following different routes but I wish you joy in your painting.

Patrick, glad to have you back! Missed your videos. Also, I do oils as well and find that the oils seem to reinforce the watercolor skills as well. Glad you found a way to keep the oils going! I (mostly) only use walnut oil to thin and wash my brushes during the session. I only use a tiny bit of thinner at the very end to wash the brushes. Some folks use baby oil too. Then you have NO solvent.

Love your paintings. I can’t decide on a medium either.....I struggle with this so much. Especially since I’m new to are only a few years in. I just focus on drawing and when I feel to add Colour I use whatever I like - well anyway, happy to see a video from you, I won’t be going anywhere. Making video content is hard enough! Looking forward to more painting

Don’t think about it too much Kimberly just relax into the painting not worrying about the end result. That way you will get your best work. Just be bold with your paint, experiment and you’ll learn so much.

Great to see you back. I have been trying to learn watercolour but dabbling in oil as well. I see no reason why I cant do both so good news for me.

Lovely paintings. I'd like to see a video on making frames. I want to make some frames that are very wide. I was thinking 16 by 9 which is the ideal size also for showing them on KZbin.

Welcome back. I started with oil, then tried watercolor. Just couldn't get watercolor. So then acrylic. I like acrylic painting. I don't have to wait long for the painting to dry. But see.s flat. My favorite is oil, but hate the fumes. So I guess I can try the water based oils.

You could use refined walnut oil as diluent or turpenoid natural is non toxic

With the WMO you can get away with just using water to thin the paint, but not to much. I also use water mixable linseed oil helps lay down subsequent layers.

Great with an update from you! You're just as brilliant with colors using oil as you are using watercolours. I would also like to venture into oil at some point, but I don't really have the space right now. Watercolor takes a little less space and is a little less smelly!

Good to hear from you Agatha, your right oils do need more space especially the drying process. I have made a rack and that’s made things a lot easier. I hope all is well with you and your family. I look forward to seeing more of your work soon it always inspired me.

@@PatrickLeyGreaves Thank you! I'm currently not very focused on painting as I am dealing with the sale of a house and other things that are demanding my time and energy. Hopefully before the end of the year I'll be back! Until then I'm trying to squeeze it in now and then, but it's not with the same focus and determination as I usually have. But watching inspiring videos is always a good way to get back on the horse again!

Agathe Molvik your such a talented artist in your own right so as soon as your able to continue you must. Lost of great paintings left in you to share with everyone. I remember when PW website was up and running I used to look forward to the paintings you posted very much, you saw things in a different way which always made your paintings exciting to look at.

Great to see you again, your right it is good to have a go in other mediums, I've tried acrilic's inks and some colarge but still like water colour because it's easy to clear up afterwards. Well impressed with your oil painting, take care.

Wow, you transferred to oils from watercolours really well, I remember when I switched, my paintings looked dreadful at first. I totally agree about how working with different media feeds into others, I have experienced that myself. I have a friend with FASO and they seem very good with support for their clients and the websites look great. Yes please for some framing information, that would be very interesting.

Hi Kari just checked out your channel your journals look beautiful. Love the studio tour you have a good working space. I’ve just joined Faso and there online support has been first class. The website will be finished next week. I will be showing my framing equipment very soon on YT.. BTW subscribed to your channel.

Patrick, I was concerned about you not seeing you for so long. Your oils are beautiful and do reflect the watercolor style we all know and love. What exactly is the board you use? Do you have suggestions about brand of water mixable oils? Thought about this a few years ago, but my watercolor took over. Would like to give a go without investing too much to start. A basic primary set and what else? Can't wait to see more of you!

Good to see you back and OIL painting was my bigginin back in the 70's, than I change to Acrylics and since 2009 I started with watercolors... i still have some oil colors and also water soluble oils with I considere them as a upgrade Acrylics. But my fascination with watercolors is still super strong yet... But is good to have you back,,, Actually the one with the horse on the river is a very good one, i do like it.
