I joined the LDS church at 16 years old. My mother and father were going through a divorce and the LDS sisters were extremely kind to her. I spent the next 12 years in the church, attended BYU and BYUI, got married in the temple and everything. When I had my son, I slowly began to realize that while I, personally, felt just "okay" being a member of the church, I knew I didn't want my son to be in it. I couldn't explain it then, but I just felt it was wrong and I couldn't subject my child to it. I began to research the faith, learn about the church history, and actually studied scripture deeply. I QUICKLY realized that while the LDS church teaches some lovely ideas and doctrines, they were simply and so incredibly, OBVIOUSLY, false. I stepped away from it slowly, and my husband soon followed for his own reasons. I spent the next three years in a "where do I go from here" confusion. I tried New Age, I tried going back to my Protestant roots (what I was originally raised before I became LDS), and then thought I was Agnostic. But one day, I felt impressed to buy a new Bible (I threw out all my old Mormon things including my old scriptures previously), and study. I had a PASSION to learn God's word again. I came across some passages that would eventually lead to exploring Catholicism. Primarily, John 6, where I came to really believe Jesus meant His literal flesh and blood. I realized that I had never considered becoming Catholic because it was engrained in me as child that Catholicism was NOT an option. They "worshipped Mary" and "prayed to saints" and all that stuff, lol. And if there's one thing Protestants and Mormons can agree on, is how much they hate Catholics. But by studying the Word AND studying the Church Fathers and early Christian history (something I was never encouraged to do in Protestantism or Mormonism or even knew were available to me) I realized there was a rich Christian history that pointed directly to the Catholic Church. All that to say, I am still learning and researching, but I begin RCIA tomorrow! Please pray for me!

Did you ever study about the time one living Mormon prophet dug the dead body of a previous Mormon prophet and put him on trial and excommunicated him? No, you never heard that, that's because it was a pope. , Pope Stephen VI who dug up the body of Pope Formosus and put him on trial. Is that something you guys talk about in the Catholic church?

@mitchellosmer1293 The apostles met on the first day of the week because it's the Lord's Day, Sunday, the day he rose from the dead. From the very beginning, it's been the day of worship for Christians. We see it in scripture and history in every generation. If you want to be a Jew and follow the works of the law, you can. But we Christians know we are not justified by the works in the law but by faith and obedience in Christ.

Did you ever read Esther 3:14 "Behold, I am Jesus Christ, I am the FATHER and the SON" or what about Mosiah 16:15 "Teach them that redemption cometh through Christ the Lord, who is the very ETERNAL FATHER. Amen." Your own book of mormon contradicts your non-trinitarian heresy. I could keep going, I could even share the book of mormon verses that were trinitarian in the 1832 edition but got changed in the 1900s to be less trinitarian, completely changed. My grandfather was a historian in Nauvoo, a faithful Mormon until his last days. So I have 1832 editions, 1837 edition, 1845 edition, etc. You name it we can have a debate and we'll see how long you last. Im actually holding the 1832 in my hand right now, Ill gladly show you over a zoom call :) @@BrianTerrill

I have been active Catholic since my childhood. Through an elderly coupIe I came to know about Joseph Smith and his findings. I have then read the Book of Mormon and the story of its founder . At the end of the book it says ask whether this book is written by God or the Satan. I WAS IN MY 20's then. I decided to really ask by fervent prayer and at the end I was inspired by the unknown force within me which led me to throw away the Book of Mormon and stick to the Holy Bible and continue to become even more stronger Catholic.

While I was in grad school on an externship I had a LDS classmate and were shared a room. We talked about Catholicism and Mormonism, and I'll never forget him saying that if he weren't Mormon, he would be Catholic because it makes the most sense to him. That meant a lot to me. As far as I know, he never converted. But just the fact that he didn't run me down and I never ran him down, but we listened to each other to the point that he even thought about making that statement, it meant a lot.

Religion and Sense do not mix anymore than oil and water! I was raised in a super-Catholic family where nearly all my relatives were priests, nuns, Monsignor, alter boys etc. Lack of sensibility drove me away from that, then from a fundy sect which put the final screws in the religiosity coffin. Pick any bible. Defines “contradiction”… moral guidance? Lets look at how to handle your slaves… freedom and liberty? You can’t have either if you believe truly! Don’t you find it a “mysterious way” that He lets the best people suffer and die? Do all the Ukrainians deserve it? Damn I’m so grateful to have evolved out of the cruelty and lack of love and compassion that Christianity today practices; Onward Christian Soldiers! No thanks! I take responsibility for all my actions, instead of blaming some other person or being. Or using it to justify hate, ie just about every war ever. Im done with fakery and fairy tales. We need to save our species first! JC aint comin…

@@OliveMule quote---THERE'S ONLY 1 HOLY CATHOLIC & APOSTOLIC CHURCH -unquote Then quote that FROM the Holy Word of GOD!!!!! The Bible!! According TO THE BIBLE, there was NO SUCH name of that church before 100AD!!! FACTS: >>>Peter in Jerusalem--- Galatians 1:18 Then after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to get acquainted with Cephas(Peter) and stayed with him fifteen days. 19 I saw none of the other apostles-only James, the Lord’s brother. 20 I assure you before God that what I am writing you is no lie. Peter to Jerusalem-------Paul to Rome. >>> WAS PETER EVER IN ROME? READ ROMANS 16, WRITTEN FROM ROME BY PAUL. PAUL LISTS 27 PEOPLE. PETER WAS NOT EVEN MENTIONED. ABOUT 80-90 A.D. PETER WROTE TWO EPISTLES (NEAR THE END OF THE NEW TESTAMENT), A TOTAL OF 8 CHAPTERS AND NEVER MENTIONED ONE TIME THAT HE WAS A “POPE” OR THAT THERE WAS A “CATHOLIC CHURCH.” DID THE HOLY SPIRIT AND PETER FORGET TO TELL US SOMETHING IMPORTANT OR IS SUCH SIMPLY NOT TRUE??? Jesus did not appoint Peter to the headship of the apostles and forbade any such notion (Matthew 20:20-28; Luke 22:24-26; Ephesians 1:22-23; Colossians 1:18; 1 Corinthians 3:11 FACTS: >>>Although Peter recognized himself as an apostle (see, e.g., 1 Pet. 1:1; 2 Pet. 1:1), he never claimed a superior title, rank, or privilege over the other apostles. He even referred to himself as a “fellow elder” (1 Pet. 5:1) and as “a bond-servant” of Christ (2 Pet. 1:1). Far from claiming honor and homage for himself, he soberly warns his fellow elders to guard against lording it over those under their pastoral care (1 Pet. 5:3). The only glory he claimed for himself was that which is shared by all believers and which is yet “to be revealed, … when the Chief Shepherd appears” (vv. 1, 4). FACTS: FACT: When did Peter die in the Bible? Peter is believed to have died as a martyr for his faith. Although his death is not described in Scripture, numerous writers of the time (or shortly thereafter) described his death as having occurred in Rome during the reign of the emperor Nero in 64 CE. So, what about this? Tradition has it that the Apostle Peter ordained Ignatius as bishop of Antioch in AD 69. Five years AFTER Peter died Ignatius was ordained by Peter??? FACTS: Tradition holds that the first Gentile church was founded in Antioch, Acts 11:20-21, where it is recorded that the disciples of Jesus Christ were first called Christians (Acts 11:26). It was from Antioch that St. Paul started on his missionary journeys to Rome. ACTS-written between 70 Ad--90 AD--- CHRISTIANS--NOT CATHOLIC!!!!! At least 40 years AFTER Christ!!!!------ *****When was the first Christian church built? The earliest archeologically identified Christian church is a house church (domus ecclesiae), the Dura-Europos church, founded between 233 and 256. In the second half of the 3rd century AD, the first purpose-built halls for Christian worship (aula ecclesiae) began to be constructed. CHRISTIAN--NOT CATHOLIC!!!!! FACT: First Catholic church built in Jerusalem in 326AD!! LONG after Peter died. So, how could he be the Pope of a church that did NOT exist for another 250 years????

I was raised Mormon (they prefer to be called LDS now but when I was young that wasn't the case). I served a mission, I lived and breathed that church for 19 years. I ended up realizing it wasn't true on my mission. I was finding inconsistency after inconsistency, including a ton of highly trinitarian verses throughout the book of mormon. I remember walking into a catholic church on my mission, in prince edward island. I felt so much peace, I went there so much my companion started getting upset at me. Now I'm in the RCIA. Roman Catholic Church does not predate any Scriptures. It came in ad300s. It was made the official religion of Rome in ad380 by Theodosius. Scriptures was written by Jewish Christian Apostles and Jewish Prophets. Not Roman Catholics. Acts 9:31 says nothing of Roman Catholic Church. Stop misquoting. Acts 9:31 clearly says the Christian Church spread to Judea Samaria and Galilee regions of Israel; not Rome. So all your claims fall to the ground. Bible only approves traditions of Jesus and Apostles. 2 Thes 2:15. But Bible rejects all man made unbiblical traditions of Pharisees and Roman Church alike. Mat 15, 23. Roman Church doctrines came from its own man made traditions. Not from Jesus or Apostles or Scriptures. 95% of them are so.

About the catholic church: Change the Sabbath" Had she not such power, she could not have done that in which all modern religionists agree with her,- she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday, the first day of the week, for the observance of Saturday, the seventh day, a change for which there is no Scriptural authority."- "A Doctrinal Catechism," by Rev. Stephen Keenan, page 174. "The Catholic Church of its own infallible authority created Sunday a holy day to take the place of the Sabbath of the old law."- Kansas City Catholic, Feb. 9, 1893. "The Catholic Church, . . . by virtue of her divine mission, changed the day from Saturday to Sunday."- Catholic Mirror, official organ of Cardinal Gibbons, Sept. 23, 1893. "Ques.- Which is the Sabbath day? "Ans.- Saturday is the Sabbath day. "Ques.- Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday? "Ans.- We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church, in the Council of Laodicea (A. D. 336), transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday ."- "The Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine," by Rev. Peter Geiermann, C. SS. R.., page 50, third edition, 1913, a work which received the "apostolic blessing" of Pope Pius X, Jan. 25, 1910. What was done at the Council of Laodicea was but one of the steps by which the change or the Sabbath was effected. The date usually given for this council is 364 A. D.

@@mitchellosmer1293 Sad you called the Bible the "Christian" Bible when the Catholic church has been around for more than 2000 years, just around the time when Jesus was around so yes, Catholics ARE the original CHRISTIANS. All of the Catholic commandments are in the Bible, after Jesus's resurrection his apostles gathered on the FIRST DAY of the week. They only went to synagogues on Saturday to PREACH not to worship. Find a verse in the new testament AFTER the resurrection in which Jesus and the apostles gathered on Saturday instead of Sunday. You will not find it. Not everything is literally said or mentioned in the Bible, you and I know it, do more research on the history of Christianity. Acts 20:7 And upon the FIRST DAY of the week, when the disciples CAME TOGETHER TO BREAK BREAD, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight." John 20:19- Then, the same day at evening, being the FIRST DAY of the week, when the doors were shut where the DISCIPLES WERE ASSEMBLED for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.” John 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only BROKE THE SABBATH, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God. Why would you not, Guy? (Interesting choice of screen name by the way, good Catholic that he was) Your question infers that a scholar like Patrick Madrid would be incapable of describing Mormonism because he himself is not a Mormon. What specifically did he say that was incorrect? I would only dismiss a Baptist's description of Catholicism when he describes something that is untrue. That pesky thing TRUTH keeps coming up doesn't it? I personally feel this was a succinct and thorough examination of a faith that has some serious issues of origin. Perhaps YOU should dig a little deeper yourself. Problems of origin do tend to cause a lot of problems for not just Mormons but Protestants too. The Mormon faith is just another in a LONG line of faiths that are a reduction of, a subtraction of, or a revision of Catholicism. THAT is a matter of history, not opinion.

Something about Mormons is that it helps to be nice to them. It doesn’t help to make them feel like they are being put on the defensive. They are extremely nervous about being persecuted and rejected. They want to feel like others respect them as people. So don’t be rude or arrogant with them. Be patient and understanding. For many of them, Mormonism has been their whole world.

I respect Patrick Madrid and listen to his radio show almost every day. He misspoke about Blacks being allowed into the priesthood in 1968, it was actually 1978. I moved with my Irish/Catholic family to Utah in 1964 when I was 16. I recall my middle aged neighbor back in Utah telling me and my brothers about the "black skin as a curse" belief of Mormons. We questioned him incredulously about this, telling him we, and the Catholic Church, did not share this belief and he got very frustrated. Finally he said, and I quote, "How would you like your sister to marry a big black n....r." We told him that was her decision, not ours. He walked away in frustration.

I'm a convert from a reformed Protestant tradition. Mr.Madrid's arguments against the Mormon teaching of the Great Apostacy (36:40+) also apply to my former Protestant belief that the Catholic Church went off the rails at some unspecified point, probably in the time of Constantine. But, when I looked into the matter, I concluded the biblical and historical evidence did not support such a position. Now, as a Catholic, I cringe when I consider how my Protestant brothers and sisters agree with the Mormons on this point.

Biblical Proof the seventh day (Saturday) IS the Sabbath Matt 27:62 The next day, the one after Preparation Day......(.Saturday) Mat 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, (Sunday) Mark 15:42 - It was Preparation Day (that is, the day before the Sabbath). Mark 16:1-2 - When the Sabbath was over,(After sunset Saturday) Mark 16:9 When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week (Sunday) Luke 23:54 It was Preparation Day, (friday) and the Sabbath was about to begin Luke 23:56 Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.( Just before sunset Friday) Luke 24:1 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, .... (Sunday) John 19:31 Now since it was preparation day (Friday), in order that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath, for the sabbath day of that week was a solemn one, John 19:42 because of the Jewish day of Preparation (Friday), since the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there. 42 And so, because it was the day of preparation for the Jewish Passover John 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, (Sunday)

My husband and I were not raised as Christians, but in my 40’s I kept getting the desire to find a church and began “trying out” most of the Christian churches in our town (over a few years time). We had 4 kids (not raised in any church) and our oldest married a Mormon girl in 2000. After our first grandchildren arrived we decided to find out about the LDS faith. We had the lessons from the sisters and prayed but I just couldn’t get past the reverence for Joseph Smith. It really turned me off. Also - not being allowed to attend their wedding was an enormous sore spot - that practice is so divisive and wrong. The prayers with the lessons did however leave me open to belief in Jesus Christ - which I had never felt - only a vague higher power belief. I knew really nothing about Christ. But I knew I could never have testimony of Joseph Smith which is what we were asked to do. I began attending a Bible study with a First Baptist group and occasionally going to their services. One day a member of the study fervently proclaimed that the Mormons were going to hell. Stood up and gestured down and spoke with very strong conviction. No one contradicted him. I got very upset and told him my son, daughter in law and grandkids weren’t going to hell! Well, another religion bites the dust for me. My husband says - let’s check out the Catholic Church - he went to a Catholic high school for 3 years and had a fondness for it. I was super hesitant so he asked the priest to call me so I could ask him if he believed the Mormons were going to hell. I will never forget his loving answer. “Well, that wouldn’t be a very loving God now, would it?” I now know some Catholic theologists don’t agree with him but it was exactly what I needed to hear and it is certainly what I believe. After a few months of attending Mass, my husband and I started RCIA and I became Catholic at the age of 53. I am so happy and grateful for our blessed church - I have been on the RCIA team for several years and I love being a lector. My semi-agnostic former self would never have dreamed that I would ever be lectoring the word of God in front of a congregation - and a Catholic one at that! My problem is that I can’t really even ask questions of my seven beautiful, loving, talented, kind LDS grandchildren. Occasionally they will say things like theirs is the one true Church and Joseph Smith is a prophet. That doesn’t happen often, but I can’t say anything. I know that would be forbidden and my son and daughter in law would not want that influence on their kids. I pray for them and try to set an example as a Catholic grandma who is filled with the Holy Spirit. I did take one of my granddaughters to church one time when she was spending the night and I was going to lector. She said she really liked it - she knelt and read the Creed and I was apprehensively excited! But she is now on a mission for her church. You never know though! If I became Catholic anyone can!

For me, the fact that the Book of Mormon was translated into King James English in 1830 something, when that was not spoken in the United States speaks volumes. So, the Church was totally apostate by the 3rd century, but they use the language type of King James and the Anglican Church's language to document their belief???

There are several explanations as to the origin of the Book of Mormon. Adherents to the Latter Day Saint movement view the book as a work of divinely inspired scripture, which was written by ancient prophets in the ancient Americas. Non-Mormon theories of authorship propose that it is solely the work of man. Adherents mostly accept Joseph Smith's account of translating ancient golden plates inscribed by prophets. Smith preached that the angel Moroni, a prophet in the Book of Mormon, directed him in the 1820s to a hill near his home in Palmyra, New York, where the plates were buried. Besides Smith himself, there were at least 11 witnesses who said they saw the plates in 1829, and three also claiming to have been visited by an angel. Several other witnesses observed Smith dictating the text that eventually became the Book of Mormon.

Just before listening to this video I had listened to "Drew the Catholic" where he was talking with a former Mormon bishop who was becoming a Catholic. It was a very interesting video. This former bishop, who had been excommunicated because he divorced his Mormon wife, was in Rome. He went down to where most popes are interred. He saw where St. Peter lies and realized that the great apostasy had never happened. The first thought he had was, "You are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church, and death itself will not have any power over it."

I am amazed that Churches spend so much time tearing down the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a member I have never attended a talk or podcast in the Church talking of other faiths. My Dad in Salmon, Idaho attended a meeting of Catholics, Protestants, and Baptists who were there to listen to some apostate member tear down our faith. Dad went with a friend who walked out early but my Dad endured it to the end, and then kindly walked up and shared his testimony of the Church and then left. He died in 2011 and about a year later appeared to an inactive grandson at a church banquet and told him he was happy to see him at church. I love everything about the LDS Church!!! I love the fourteen year old boy who went out and prayed to know which Church to join, not expecting the Father and Son, Jesus Christ to appear. Jesus told him not to join any of them and that he had a work for him to do. He didn’t know he was going to fulfill Acts 3:18-21. Of course his family embraced him while most people harassed him. But he couldn’t and never did deny this vision. The Lord didn’t choose a preacher or educated grown up but a small boy who like our Savior grew from grace to grace. He didn’t go out and organize the Church until the Lord’s preparation was completed including translation of the Book of Mormon, John the Baptist restoring Aaronic Priesthood and Peter James and John the Melkezedic Priesthood. Only then was the Church restored. I love the knowledge I have of my Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. Three separate members of the godhead. Not a god defined in the Niacine Creed ascribed by other faiths; A god without body, parts, or passions. As I read the scriptures I believe Jesus when he says he only does the things he’s seen his Father do. I believe the Father came at Christ’s baptism and said ‘this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased’. I believe at the tomb Jesus tells Mary, I go to my God and your God, and to my Father and your Father. Yes and I believe we are in the very image of the Father and our Savior. When He appeared to the apostles He said handle me and see a spirit hath not flesh and bones. Did Jesus die a second death? I think not. Then my favorite scripture in the Bible is John 17 where Christ prays that He may become one with the Father and share in His glory. Then he prays for the apostles and then for each of us who believe on their words, that we may also become one with the Father and the Son. I know I can become one with them as I have felt their love and presence in my life as I’ve exercised faith in Them. The restoration fulfilled other prophecies as well. In Isaiah 29 the prophecy of a book coming from the dust, fulfilled. In Ezekiel 37: 16-20 talks of the stick of Judah being put together with the stick of Joseph and they shall be one in thine hand; the Bible and the Book of Mormon. How about Malachi 4:5,6 where he prophesied of the coming of Elijah before the great and dreadful day of the Lord. Where is he? The Jews still set a plate waiting for his coming. He came with the Savior in the Kirkland Temple in 1836. He returned the sealing powers of the priesthood. Moses restored the keys to the gathering of Israel. Without the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ the second coming will not happen if you believe the Bible’s teachings. Yes, this is the fastest growing Christian Church, but we love our brothers of all faiths and work with them where we can , including Catholic Charities. All those who have left the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints have their personal story. But as for me and the millions who have remained faithful, we love the gospel and I would never leave it. The covenants I’ve received in the temple including my eternal marriage to my lovely wife and being sealed to my posterity I would never forsake! Christ appeared to His other sheep. He has come in this the last dispensation and is the head of His Church. We receive His guidance through scriptures and modern prophets and apostles who receive guidance thru revelation of the Lord. I know the Church is true and I love my Savior and my Father in Heaven and feel at one with them as I have come to know them.

No because then there would be no need for Him to establish one and only Church. Remember the passage in the Bible where He said that He will build a church on Peter, meaning rock? Just thinking about this logically though, it makes sense for there to be only one church/relogion because religions differ in so many things and it would be a logical fallacy for them all to just be true. For example some religions will tell you that homosexuality is fine and other ones will tell you it's not okay. So which one is correct? They can't both be correct because that would be a logical fallacy.

I’m Catholic and I think so too. God doesn’t reject those who yearn for His love and channel God’s love to others. I think it was Pope Benedict who said something like this: Christianity is primarily a relationship with someone, that someone being Christ. This relationship trumps ideology or understanding. For example, someone who possesses a better understanding God’s truth (right mind), may not have the right heart and faith. With that said though, God’s fuller truth teaches us about how to have a relationship with Him through Christ, the Son, who instituted His Church and the sacraments. Catholics believe that we have the fuller truth and we keep the commandments and sacraments because they are life giving and sanctify us so that we may get to heaven. We do these because we love the triune God. For other non-Catholics, they may hold some truths, but not the fuller truth that was revealed by God (the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit) to his holy Catholic and apostolic church. However, there are plenty of bad Catholics out there that are catholic in name only and there are plenty of good non-Catholics. I think God sees us all as His children for Christ came to save all the world from sin and I think He is pleased when He sees us loving one another. God’s mercy is greater than we can imagine.

My contention is that Mormonism is a secondary schism from Protestantism, based in the developing culture of the United States in the 1830's. The King James Bible, translated in another country and two centuries before in 1611 was the Bible language of Protestant churches in the United States in 1830. So, the use of King James English in the translation of the Book of Mormon was designed to give it a sense of scriptural "authority".

When Isaiah talk about other gods, he was referring to Israel gods. Jehovah was their God, but Israelites took other gods to worship. Just came out of Egypt and camping by mound Sanai, Israelite made a golden calf to worship. This is right after they witness so many miracles since they left Egypt. When God said, you cannot have other Gods, He was not referring that He has another neighboring God. He was telling Israel not to have a golden calf or Baal and other gods of their neighbors. Israel was told not to intermingle marry to their neighbors. Why?. Because their neighbors worship gods were made of stones and wood. That’s is the gods God was referring to in this context.

Good video. I don't know any Mormons, but this was helpful in obtaining a general understanding of what they believe. Like Protestants, they believe that Jesus was lying when he gave Peter the keys to the church he established in the gospel of Matthew, and stated that the gates of hell would not prevail against this church. There's a direct line of succession between Peter, the first pope who was given the keys, and all of the other popes throughout history. No other Christian denomination can make that claim. Virtually all Christians were Catholic for the first 1000+ of history until the first major schism with the regional eastern orthodox churches, which also remained largely Catholic in all of their beliefs with the primary exception being recognizing the pope as the vicar of Christ. Sola scriptura is a myth as the books of the New Testament weren't even written until well after the death of Jesus, and virtually no lay Christians owned a personal bible until after the printing press was invented during the mid 15th century. The King James bible that Protestants use is merely an English translation of the Catholic bible, and includes the books that the Catholic church deemed to be divinely inspired and infallible.

Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints here. This speaker does a fantastic job building up his ethos and pathos throughout (especially the beginnings of) this video. He makes it clear how involved he’s been with members, he makes jokes, etc. However, as the video progresses, his actual logos is really nowhere to be found. He says he read the Godmakers and was, in a sense, disgusted by the tone of much of anti-Catholic material, and yet makes all those same, debunked, recycled, inconsiderate arguments against the LDS faith only a few minutes later. He makes a lot of claims about archeology, race, doctrine, etc. without referencing, with context, verses from the Triple Combination. He never presents counter-arguments to strengthen his logos. For instance, he throws the “skin of blackness” argument out there to startle those learning about the faith, but doesn’t acknowledge that the Old Testament says and does nearly the exact same thing. It’s a literally device, and a reference to disease and demeanor. Not African Americans. Furthermore, no Latter-day Saint believes Nephi’s family was Caucasian. They were all middle eastern. It was a contrast, not a modern-political-racial commentary. Not to mention part of the reason Joseph Smith was martyred was because of his abolitionist platform. Or the Book of Mormon verses saying all are alike/equal unto God. Or the 2nd Official Declaration in the D&C. He, the speaker in the video, also employs a logical fallacy known as Gish Gallop where one makes small, frequent claims about things as to create such an extensive list that it takes far longer to debunk than it does to start doubting from it. I’m always curious to learn more about others beliefs, that’s why I’m watching this to begin with, but I wholeheartedly believe that this man is intelligent enough to know the counter-arguments and context, yet chooses to deliberately ignore them. He is deceiving. There’s plenty of weird stuff in our history and doctrine. I wouldn’t say being an honest historian of LDS matters would force you to convert from the knowledge alone. But rather than focusing on that, he’s misrepresenting, exaggerating, or straight up lying about nearly all LDS beliefs to scare people away. I’m not calling him, the Catholic Church, or any Catholic individual Satan. However, this speaker is employing the exact same tactics that Satan uses to lie. Giving half truths with no context, twisting what’s been said, in order to get his outcome. If anyone has any genuine questions or really wants to learn, leave a comment, I will reply. In the meantime, peace and love be with you all. Never waver in your faith in Christ.

@@essafats5728 quote---is Jesus the new covenant? Are u ethically a Jew? unquoet Since obviously you have NO IDEA of what the New covenent is: >>>-THE DNA OF THE NEW COVENANT If only God Himself had given a clear, straightforward definition of the new covenant. Oh, but wait, He did! , God Himself defines the new covenant! No equivocation, no ambiguity, no obscurity; just a straightforward definition that most anyone could understand. But before we get to the definition proper, here is a brief backstory. God first announced and defined the new covenant in the Old Testament through Jeremiah (Jer. 31:33, 34). Hebrews in the New Testament picked it up straight from Jeremiah. In the longest New Testament quotation of an Old Testament passage, Hebrews 8:7-12 quotes Jeremiah 31:31-34, essentially verbatim. God defines the “new covenant” (Heb. 8:8) as four promises He makes to His people. Promise 1: He promises that He will write His laws in their hearts (Heb 8:10), to sanctify them, to make them holy, aligning their hearts and characters with His. When God gave Israel His law at Sinai, the people immediately responded, “All the words which the LORD has said we will do, . . . and be obedient” (Exod. 24:3, 7, NKJV), as in, “We’re good, God; we got this.” But they weren’t good, not that good; and they hadn’t “got this” (recall the golden-calf incident at this point!). He wants them to know that He didn’t give them His law to challenge them to try and keep it. “He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust” (Ps. 103:14, NKJV). He gave it to them as a promise of the kind of people He would make of them if they would rely on Him and trust Him. “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you . . . and cause you to walk in My statutes” (Ezek. 36:26, 27, NKJV). Promise 2: He promises to be their God and make them His people (Heb. 8:10) to reconcile them to Himself. Isaiah warned, “Your iniquities have separated you from your God” (59:2, NKJV), the most vulnerable condition possible for people living in a hostile environment such as our world. God says, “I want to be your shield and refuge. Rely on Me, trust Me; let Me do my thing on your behalf.” God would reconcile us through Christ’s death on the cross (2 Cor. 5:17-21). Promise 3: God promises to reveal Himself to the whole world, and He promises that the day is coming when that will not be necessary anymore, because everyone will know Him, from the least to the greatest (Heb. 8:11)-the harmony of Eden will be restored. Until that day of final consummation, He invites those who already know Him to team up with Him and other believers in His mission to make Himself known within their own circles of influence (Matt. 28:19, 20). --Promise 4: God promises to forgive our sins and remember them no more (Heb. 8:12), in order to justify us so that we stand before God as though we had never sinned. At some point in human history, the Covenant Maker Himself came from heaven to earth to shed His “blood of the everlasting covenant” to make this possible and to make it hard to resist. These four promises shout out that God has made sure anyone who really wants to be in His eternal kingdom can be, because He has committed Himself and all of His resources to make it happen! God Himself defines the new covenant by these four promises; they are the DNA of the new covenant. In short, the new covenant is the gospel! Why don’t more Christians already know this? God couldn’t have made it plainer. Could it be that some sinister force is at work to dull people’s minds and veil their hearts to the gospel lest people hear it, understand it, believe it, walk in it, and receive the full inheritance prepared for them from the creation of the world? RESPONDING: THE EXPERIENTIAL DIMENSION OF THE COVENANTS In the preface to God’s definition of the new covenant, He says: “If that first covenant had been faultless” (Heb. 8:7, NKJV), there would have need no need for a new covenant. So what was so “faulty” (“wrong” NIV) with the first covenant that required a new one? Surprisingly, God does not list things here like a weak human priesthood or animal sacrifices that could not accomplish forgiveness, and so forth, or anything at all that directly pertains to the covenant itself which He made with His people. Rather, He explicitly explains where the fault lies: “Finding fault with them . . . I will make a new covenant . . . -because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the LORD” (vv. 8, 9, NKJV, emphasis supplied). Here, in straightforward, unambiguous language, God instructs us that when He thinks of covenant, and when Scripture speaks about covenant, He includes how people respond to the promises and appeals He made through the covenants as well. Furthermore, He refers to the three types of covenants covered from last week: the archetypal everlasting covenant and its origin in the nature of the Trinity; its adaptation in the covenant of grace designed to redeem humanity from the pandemic of sin; and to the historical covenants’ progressive unveiling of the full gospel throughout history. There are historical old and new covenants and there are experiential old and new covenants. Just as surely as there are a series of historical old covenants (with Adam, Abraham, Israel, and so on) and a historical new covenant (initiated when Jesus came in history), so too are there experiential old and new covenants depending on how people respond to the gospel promises and appeals God made and makes through His historical covenants. The secret to decoding the covenant(s) includes understanding the gospel promises as they are revealed in the historical covenants and the responses of the people to those promises. An experiential old covenant may be defined as responding to the gospel by rejecting it outright or by accepting it outwardly only, complying with it legalistically to gain heaven and escape hell. It represents an unconverted life. An experiential new covenant is defined as responding to the gospel internally, from the heart, by faith in, and reliance on, the promises of God, resulting in an obedience that issues naturally through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, who writes God’s law on one’s heart. Paul describes his life before conversion as a life of “confidence in the flesh” (Phil. 3:3), religious to the hilt, obedient to the law from childhood up, confident that concerning a “righteousness, which is in the law [he was] blameless” (v. 6, NKJV; “faultless” in NIV). Though he was living in the new covenant historical era, he had an old covenant experience. After his conversion to Jesus, he considered his previous obedience “as rubbish” (NKJV) and accepted a new “righteousness . . . through faith in Christ, the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith” (vv. 8, 9, NIV)-a new covenant experience. To think of the old and new covenants as experiences in other than exclusively historical terms will be a new skill for many of us. But God Himself pointed us in this direction when He said He would not have needed a new covenant had He not found fault with the people because they failed to “continue in My covenant” (Heb. 8:9, NKJV). Their response to His covenant had resulted in an old covenant experience without hope. He responded with a new covenant, appealing for a new covenant response and a new covenant experience in which they would fully, faithfully, obediently embrace the inheritance He had prepared for them from the beginning of the world. WHERE is there just one mention of the Sabbath being abolished? >>>>Galatians 3:27-28 KJV For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Former Mormon here… Praise God for rescuing me. The following is a sample of my reality in relation to the LDS. My Mormon brother, with whom at one time I was very close, has repeatedly disowned me. It became official when he couldn’t control my decision to be Catholic. While enrolled In a 4 year LDS seminary program, we were taught through the curriculum that the pope is the Antichrist. Mormons are taught to think of the Catholic Church as the whore of Babylon. It’s also accepted among more serious Mormons that Jesus was/is married to Mary Magdalene, and they have children together. Brigham Young claimed that Joseph Smith and other LDS were direct descendants of Jesus. To be happy and be Mormon sounds nice, but Mormons are under constant pressure to perform to the point of fakery. Lying for the Lord is an unfortunate practice. They are led on an emotional ride that never ends or is satisfied… all so sad. If you are proselytize d by a Mormon… it’s all very good unless you do not convert. You will be called anti-Mormon and quite often ostracized. That can be painful if the person who ostracized you is your former best friend or boyfriend or girlfriend. I have witnessed this. I have also witnessed people who questioned the church as being accused of being under the influence of the devil. Knowing and living the truth in love is the best witness a Christian can give to a Mormon.🙏✝️

"In 1859 Brigham Young said as much: "Hidden in the blood of many LDS runs the blood of Israel from numberious directions, including that of the Savior. But it is specifically through the divine blood-right of Christ through Joseph Smith Jr. that all members of the Church are lawful heirs of the promise." 345, citing Journal of Discourses (9 October 1859) 7:290. "Victor L. Ludlow is the only contemporary official LDS scholar to mention how the linage came to the Prophet. Ludlow noted that there were occasions "when a number of the brethren, including Joseph Smith, claimed that they shared lineage with Jesus in the tribe of Judah." 375 citing Ludlow, Issiah 172.

I don't know why other Mormons say this stuff isnt true when confronted with it. I grew up Mormon and this was in my children's Mormon book. That being said, they never talked about the racist stuff in church or the primary (children's sunday school), even though in practice we were separated by race and language. One of the many reasons I've converted to Catholicism.

I certainly hope that anyone watching this recognizes the desperation and fear Patrick feels with regard to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is such a threat that he must detour from preaching Catholicism to attacking The Church of Jesus Christ. If Catholicism was what it claims to be, there would be no need to attack other faiths. I have never seen this type of display in The Church of Jesus Christ. Only the Gospel of Jesus Christ is taught. We fear no other creed. We merely invite others to come and understand what we have seen.

I searched for God for a very long time. There were Mormons in my family history, but I was raised in the Baptist sect. However, I knew that most of what I was taught in Sunday school had no basis in history. I had to disconnect from the emotionalism that pulled me in a lot of directions. After thousands of hours of reading and listening to debate after debate, I knew that I had two choices - Catholicism or Eastern Orthodoxy. Nothing in the volumes of Church history supports the Mormon version of events. Just like there were no dogmatic Baptists or Pentecostals in the first 16 centuries of Christianity, there were no Mormons. If you can find one, I'd love to hear about it. I'm not telling you to follow me. I'm just telling you to ask yourself if any of this stuff makes logical sense.

I hope one day you learn that the Holy Spirit is very real, powerful, comforting, and constrains the Church to God's will. But it does not provide personal revelation through feelings, as the Mormon church teaches. That idea is not found in Christianity. It's an idea the Mormons came up with to deal with the problem that there is no evidence for their false religion. It's called fideism, and it's false. Come to Christianity, where we have history, archeology, prophecy, and evidence on our side. God bless.

Most of these "informative" lectures sound the same. What they leave out is how this false church with crazy beliefs is ruining circles around every other religion today and getting far far better results at both the micro and macro levels. Christ is supposed to be preparing His people and church for His return but the Catholic churchs power and influence are waning into virtual irrelevance. This video does little to explain why that is happenng.

Thank you Patrick Madrid. I recently left the Catholic church for the Mormon church, simply because they have have a greater sense of community. And that's something I don't find in the Catholic church. Needless to say I've been baptized Mormon and recieved the aaronic priesthood, but here's where things get awfully fishy. They don't talk about everything before they continually try to get you progressed in the church. The fact that Jesus was a mortal man, the fact that there is a plurality of Gods, the fact that there's no evidence of a nephite community, so on and so forth. At the time I would've found this irrelevant because I really wanted a stronger sense of community. They're really trying for me to get endowed and married in the church but something inside me tells me that they're just pushing an agenda on people. And if you really look at it, the idea of Joseph Smith being a prophet, and that there's a quorum of 12 apostles is awfully ridiculous. Needless to say, my intentions were never substantial, but there is great compelling evidence the the LDS church is a cult with strange beliefs and or doctrines. I'm happy to say that I will talk to my missionaries about this and formally resign. The thing is they are very emotionally invested in this so I find it kind of difficult to unaffiliate from them.

@@mmore242 I would go to LDS truth claims. It is about 30 hours. This talk by Madrid would be as silly as a Mormon saying Catholics are wrong because they worship a three headed God and they killed people in wars. Both religions are very sophisticated. Go deep or do not get involved. You come across as very ignorant if you study either superficailly.
