I defended Alex Smith to a fault while he was in KC, but after that loss to the Titans in the Wildcard round in the '17-'18 season, I ran out of grace for him. He just clearly wasn't the guy, and in those days, I'd have just been happy to live long enough to see the Chiefs get a (significant) playoff win, maybe even play in a Super Bowl. Now in a few days, I get to watch Mahomes lead this team to a fourth Super Bowl in five seasons. Incredible.

I was fortunate enough to see the 60's Chiefs. Was a friend of Coach Stram. I got to see SB1 and SB4. I thought I would never see the Chiefs in the SB again. Now, we get to witness greatness in front of our eyes. I think the Chiefs have a good chance of a 3-peat.

I understand what you mean but I still have love for Smith and I’m glad that he was there when Patrick came in as a rookie. I think he was a perfect mentor for him as a human being and player. Yes, I know these are highlights. BUT, look at the accuracy of his passes. Also just look at regular game film. Accuracy which is unmatched by other QBs.

A great QB needs a great o-line and decent/good receivers as Mahomes demonstrated this past season. It doesn't matter how good your team is, if you don't have a great QB, you don't stand a chance in the modern game where the rules favor offense.
