The reality is KC can literally beat teams in a single quarter. We have seen it all year long. It doesn't matter what happens in the other 3 quarters of a game, it's just that 1 quarter where KC just goes off and it's a wrap. KC hasn't lost by more than a single score in 2.5 years. They were one of the more injury plagued teams this season and they still only dropped 4 games. It's insane how much it takes to beat this team for a full 60 minutes.

EXACTLY!!!!! That is one thing I kept thinking all year long. All of the podcasters and sportscasters had seemingly forgotten all of the injuries that most of our starters had on both the offense and defense at the beginning of the season! Chris Simms is one of the first to recognize that Andy Reid's scheme was to wear down the 49ers defense and it started early in the game. People were critical of Sherman at the end, but the KC offense ran a track meet on him all game long and no one in the league is gonna keep up with that speed for 60 minutes. Andy Reid has 222 victories because of coaching like that.

Exactly right! I told my friends early on in the game that it looked like the 9ers were starting to show fatigue--2nd quarter. Andy surprised them with nuances of a run game and it carried all the way through the game. Low and behold, Damien Williams ends up with over 100 yards rushing, 9ers are fighting but showing the fatigue in the 4th quarter, Mahomes/ team magic---SB win!!!

@@PeteKhvann Mahomes isn't a running QB ala RGIII, Lamar Jackson, or Deshaun Watson.....he is a pass-first QB, but if the o-line can buy him a few seconds, let the WRs and d-backs get way downfield, he can scramble for that 8-10-12 whatever yards for a first down. The Chiefs offense is built around Mahomes's arm, not his legs (the legs are Kelce, Hill, Watkins, Hardman, etc).....he is mobile, can make any throw rolling out left or right, but he looks first to pass....he runs when the defense gives him the opportunity.....I saw a play last year where he made a 20+ yard pass (think it was vs Denver) where he jumped up and made the pass, neither of his feet were on the ground as he threw the ball.....mobility is A part of his game, but it is not THE part of his game

Jimmy can’t throw. He had his chances and many of them but blew them all. He just isn’t a quality QB. Shanahan didn’t run on their last possession. The Chiefs couldn’t stop the run. Wrong. He is good. Compare his regular season numbers to Aaron Rodgers's first full season as a starter and you'll see that Jimmy has a higher QB rating. And it took Rodgers two or three years to win a Super Bowl title. Jimmy always plays better when he screws up because he learns from his mistakes. Just compare his two games against the Seahawks. Played a much better game in the second meeting.

Against the Ravens, the defense contained Jackson for the majority of the game until that one long run that set them up for a game winning Tucker field goal. With 10 minutes left in the Atlanta game, the 49ers were up 19-10. 22-17 with 3 minutes left and the Falcons drove it 70 yards in 10 plays for a Julio Jones TD. The Chiefs just did the exact same thing to the 49ers. This doesn't fall on Garoppolo, but Saleh and that secondary. Saleh seemed like he stopped being aggressive. Last year, fans were hoping Saleh would get fired. They end up with the 2nd overall pick to take Nick Bosa, who made this defense better, all of a sudden, Saleh is this great coach and a candidate to be a head coach. GTFOH! Too bad he didn't get the job in Cleveland, because without talent, he's just not a very good DC.

49er fan, but honestly...the Niners winning a Superbowl with Jimmy-G is highly unlikely. Could you imagine if the Niners had an athletic mobile QB? Their offense would be unstoppable! But they don't and that is the main reason. He is not athletic enough to improvise on the run and buy himself more time when a play breaks down (which eventually happens in close games). This is more important than ever in a rapidly changing NFL. Almost every young QB is mobile now (with more to come next year)...but Jimmy-G plays like a slow pocket-passing QB of yesteryear. Brady was the last (and best) QB of that era. That era is over now. When you're smashing on a team by 20, the Niners offense works like a machine. But when games are tight, and defenses crowd the box, what are your options than playing a 1 dimensional game with Jimmy-G? If guys can pressure him, he will eventually wilt. He just isn't clutch. He is like a younger Matt Ryan.

The sad part is had the Niners just run the ball, they would have easily won the game. KC had no answer for it. Even stacking the box failed them. The defense on the chiefs were playing good enough to the point the coach HAD to pass a bit more. His back would have slowed up by the 4th and it still would have came down to the chiefs having time. Shanahan to me played it the right way the problem was his quarterback and because of that the chiefs were too good. Plain and simple. If jimmy was elite he would have ran tht sht allday but you cant do that with the chiefs and you are an average qb. with good defense coming at you and you have to be clutch w passing on many occasions. 49ers went to a conservative safe defense and shouldn't have stopped doing what they had to shut kc out in the 3rd. . This was the biggest mistake of all.I don't know why they settled on letting them be the aggressor at that point. I did learn that The titans did have better offense than 49 ers even without Henry.
