It's almost a point of anguish to me that no one I know can feel the emotional beauty that I get from his music. Ever since Close to Paradise I've been asking the same thing - how is this artist not recognised worldwide? But of course, tastes differ and all that. It's just hard to sit with so much passion and not be able to share it fully with people you know :/ hence I find myself now replying to a random comment... but it does lessen my anguish a little bit to know I'm not the only one who adores him :)

I’m deeply grateful that my dad raised me on Patrick Watson. He painted me a lense to get through life on, he pathed a way for me to understand the art of music and composition in its truest form which made me a better instrumentalist, and that’s why my standards as a musician are so high. No one can beat this dude.

It is also your merit (or luck) that you, being just a child, were open to this music. Many children do not get into the music that adults are trying to discover for them. But you had a hole the size of musical touch that fits in Patrick's arms as much.

this song is so unique to me, gets me everytime. in a week my dear boyfriend moves to another country. i have loved this song for a really long time and at the beginning of our relationship (he knew that i loved this song) one night we went to one of our first dates and he surprised me with a picnic by the sea with this song playing. and i couldn't find anything to say because i really valued this song. i just cried and kissed him. now it has been two years and we are getting into a long distance relationship. it is hard but when i listen to this it softens my heart.

The most beautiful thing is not just this tribute to Simón Díaz, but the fact that he even has references to venezuelan national dancers with the traditional costumes, las bailarinas de danza nacionalista. So unique. ‘’Ser un buen venezolano, no es solamente haber nacido en esta tierra. Es respetarla, abrazarla y es quererla. Y es el orgullo que se siente de tenerla. ’’ Simón Díaz.
@julianimation17853 жыл бұрын
“This song was inspired by an incredible singer from Venezuela, Simon Diaz. I was so inspired by his music I had to write a tune,” explains Watson. “It’s a love song dedicated to the hole inside of you.” The video was shot in Montreal and was “inspired by an amazing film called ‘I am Cuba’,” adds Watson. “I wanted to make a sensual but surreal dance video, where the main character slowly gets eaten by a void, embodied by the other dancers. The dancers are a wonderful Colombian dance troupe who bring a mix of classical and modern elements to the piece. I hope you enjoy.”
@AlfonSivira3 жыл бұрын
@@julianimation1785 The joropo is a traditional dance of both Venezuela and Colombia, with sub-regional types, covering almost the entire Venezuelan territory and at least a quarter of the Colombian territory. Perhaps Patrick was inspired by the Colombian dance, but this is strange, considering that Simón Díaz's llanera music was always an ode to the Venezuelan dance of his own country. Although there is always discussion about who owns this beautiful dance, it is actually a heritage of both countries, hurray for that.
