As a 'hard' sci-fi story, it does a good job of explaining the scientific concepts in an interesting and novel way, but does fall short of the novel and original TV series... I would still recommend it, but die-hard fans of the novels may be disappointed

The Netflix show takes a lot of liberties with the science so as to accelerate the timeline of events. Which can be extremely frustrating if some aspect of the science really and truly matters to you. There's a thing that happens towards the end of the season that I won't spoil, but it seems like it's going to massively fudge the science because the directors didn't care enough to fully think through the consequences of what they were changing for the adaptation.

It was a great season, but the Chinese version was a better adaption. Still, very much looking forward to next season

@@patrickbennettedits imo the chinese version was a better adaption. Film and Books are completely different medias, and the chinese version just seems like a readoff of the book, whereas the western version is structured more as a tv show.
