Always a pleasure Pat watching your video's , you boldly go up stream fearlessly as I sit drinking tea watching you , half expecting you to pop out of a waterfall on the Amazon .. Lol , your sort of video's should be shown in schools , along Fred Dibnah ..perhaps the young children will learn why infrastructure is so very important to our way of life , they should also learn about all of the other services underground , gas, electric , sewers , railways , etc etc , we are in need of engineers for the future , as nothing lasts forever . the most important thing the BBC don't get involved , simply because they would milk it dry , in my opinion .

Glad you did this one. I've looked down from the steelworks into that many times. At one time they used to pipe live steam around the steelworks and it used to be belching out of that area where the ladder was. I can still remember the smell! I had no idea how big the tunnel was! Thanks Patrick.

Great video Patrick. Always wounded what was under the steel works. Where you encountered the trains above, I walk over there from time to time and you can hear the river. From there it opens up near the store's area, then a tunnel then another open area where you took some photos on your last visit. Then another tunnel, then an open area with what looks like deep areas this runs past the west Bank area of the works that leads to the far security gate then the river runs behind the houses on Manchester Road to the dam. Sorry you got caught, bet that was fun for you. If you need any photos of any areas, let me know and I'll try to get some.

I love the clandestine stuff. I found myself in Macclesfield with a heavy rucksack. I plodded up the never ending road. Finally I came to the cut and walked along the tow path. The farmers must have spent a fortune on fencing. No way to kip in a field by the side of the cut. There were trees though and I got my hammock set up. I was surprised that people who were walking, running and riding bikes up and down the tow path, never looked my way. They weren't expecting to see anyone so they didn't. Even when dogs came to say hello, they never looked. You can hide anywhere.

Pat you should come down to Chesterfield and do the Culvert down Chatsworth Road under the Morrisons store, it used to be open and I'm pretty sure it still is.

Well done, Pat! I just watched it for the third time, this time on the 55" telly, which I also use as a monitor. Your light painting is extremely sharp. I had to pause and study them. Your sound quality is phenomenal on the floor speakers. You have outdone yourself on this production. Move over Stanley Kubrick and Quentin Tarantino. I would say that those six thumbs down came from the steel factory and the "Blue Meanies" for shouting in their basement. Actually, I get the impression that the factory acted fairly kindly in the end. If it turns out that they could give you access to something worthwhile it may be worth coming back to. You could consider it one more broadening of scope. Thank you so much for bringing this unique adventure to our living rooms. ~Peter Better Way Systems - Brazos Mr. Piano Knee (Mister PYanno ne)

Thanks Peter for kind comments, I pleased my audio worked out OK, had a few problems with the noise of the water drowning out my voice. Must of looked impressive on the big screen, and sound great as well. Kind of the authorities to let me off to explore another day, all the best Pat

@@patrickdickinson6492 I read up a bit on public access to rivers and canals in England and Wales and now I see some of the challenges faced by intrepid explorers. Here is a link to an informative article in Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rivers_Access_Campaign?wprov=sfla1 As in most well constructed communication, one may read as much or as little as one wishes in this article and still come away with better understanding. I am still reading... I appreciate your considerate replies. ~P

Getting spotted adding even more excitement. Was probably down to Health n Safely. Good they didn't make you delete footage. Great work Pat 👍

i should think so, if Pat slipped they might have been liable, or their safety record would have suffered.

Yes certainly added some excitement, hopefully should be OK with vidio as it does show the culvert is properly maintained and nothing to cover up, thanks Pat

What a shame you got caught Pat... That looked a very tricky one to navigate and when you put your walking stick into one pool to show how deep they are, blimey I thought... Keep it up and look forward to part 2, I'm sure it will make great viewing too... :) :) :)

Thanks great comments and yes there were some deep pools down there, glad I had my walking pole with me, but I took my time and had no problems making my way up the culvert. Got everything sorted for part 2, out in a week, all the best Pat

that was an other amazing video Pat and thanks fore sharing the other side of getting caught, regardless of you getting caught i was gripped ever second of you journey and you video technique of walking towards and away from the camera really set your videos apart and it must take ages to film but its well worth it. It was very kind of the steel works to give you an escorted explore but i understand it would not be the same with health and safety guys on you case.....love all your videos pat and i look forward to where ever you explore next 👍👍
