The slow waits are definitely a result of French culture! In France it's definitely very different from the USA in that we're often go, go, go with urgency, and France tends to be more laissez-faire and are all about moving slowly, with purpose, and at their own leisure!

i learned in one of my college classes that in france's culture is different(obv) like if you go to a coffee shop or to eat or something the waiters will take a while to get you your food because they arent as focused on the quick service aspect of it i guess, they prefer to have people enjoy their time with the people they are with or just in general i guess. idk if that even made sense but basically france differs from the US in that aspect i guess haha, thats probably why they were taking a while to get you your food. i loved this video btw! makes me want to go to euro disney even more now!
@PatrickDougall5 жыл бұрын
Hilary Penalber I hear that if your sitting at a table and whatnot, but standing outside in lines... not so much, haha.
@evercuriousmichelle5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I studied abroad in France and noticed that service industry employees don't value a sense of urgency. For example, the cashiers at the Carrefour (large grocery store) all had office chairs they sat in and they had very long, very slowly moving lines. That said, if I were one of the employees, I would have really appreciated not having to rush and being able to sit down!
@CamilleGras5 жыл бұрын
Haha as a French person it is very interesting for me to read that :) lunch and dinner are kind of a big thing in France. We like to take our time and it can be disturbing for us when we go abroad and do not have a long lunch break. BUT when we go abroad, we are often surprised about the service. In a good way: waiters are so nice and helpful! Sadly, especially in Paris, we are NOT used to that. But we have other perks ;)

With the refurb, they used the original Vincent Price recordings that should have been used on opening back in 1992 but they favoured a different audio at that time so they've gone back to the original plans of PM by adding his voice back in but he does also say it in French. It just wasnt recorded here x

The backstory for dlp is really interesting as it really links to the layout as her dad owned the thunder Mesa mines and they wanted more Niebuhr so they drilled further causing an explosion in which her dad died. Then she wanted to remarry to a pauper just normal person but her dads spirit wasn’t having that so he killed him and all the other suitors too.

Great vid! Couple of notes though, Cheshire Cat... the end of the word Cheshire doesn't rhyme with hire, it's said the same as the end of the word closure. Indiana Jones' coaster is generally seen as a bit meh by everyone, but it used to go backwards. Not sure why they changed it. Alice's Labyrinth is great in that it's a little fun attraction that doesn't need a queue and is family friendly, traditional etc. I think that's something I like with Disneyland Paris is that there are things that are attractions but aren't necessarily rides, walkthrus like the Aladdin one, Sleeping Beauty castle, and the Nautilus one are more of a nod to a culture of museums and art galleries etc. Curiosities. Also an interesting note, in Paris Mickey is almost always French, but Donald is almost always American. Goofy tends to be both. Also Goofy is called DIngo, and Chip n Dale are called Tik and Tak. The arcades behind the shops on Main Street were created especially because of potential poor weather but without putting Main Street under a big glass roof like in Tokyo. One is themed to Discoveryland, and what people of the past thought today would be like, and the other is themed to Frontierland, and the Statue of Liberty. Both are fab because you can also relax in them and access the shops, not just walkthrus. One thing I don't like with Paris compared to WDW and DL is that construction walls don't tend to be themed. You might get the occasional scrim, but usually they're just those ugly turquoise wooden fence walls. Also.... you like your dragons and snakes dontcha? ;)
