I had all six of the Throttle Bots as a kid. Some of them might still be in my old toy box at my mom's house. I'm so glad we got the new deluxe class Goldbug, I hope we get more if not all of them down the line.

I used to take these Goldbug, or the whole gang, with me all the time. The bot modes are silly, but I absolutely loved there vehicle modes as a kid. It was disappointing when Goldbug was recently released as part of that 4 pack. I always wanted a modern version of him. Great video PP. 👍🏻

Yeah. I did want 3 out of 4 of them so i got it. but i had wanted to buy one for a childhood friend who had him as a kid. but between the price of the pack, and aftermarket it wasn't feasible for me :0(

My only Throttlebot from back in the day was also Goldbug. I was really sold on this evolution of Bumblebee. Several years ago when Reprolabels started to do those numbered upgrade sheets, the gradually came out with the Throttlebot upgrades, so once I got the set in upgrade labels, I decided to pick up the remaining Throttlebots. They really do add a lot to otherwise plain looking toys. These days Toyhax has consolidated the upgrade stickers onto one set, so it's much more convenient from how I got into it. Interesting thing I noticed with Goldbug, they used Bumblebee's original toy face as the inspiration for the animation/comic character model, which I was really glad to see I missed out on Bumblebee, so Goldbug was my first toy that represented the character. While I agree overall the toy was lack lustre, it was the character that meant more to me. It's almost like the Atari 2600 games. The box art looked fantastic, but the game graphics were a let down, but so long as the game play was fun, that was what mattered, as imagination filled in the rest. On a side note, these Throttlebots are the only G1 toys I let kids play with, and they hold up just fine.

Chase Searchlight and Freeway appeared in both parts of The Return of Optimus Prime. Wideload was in the first part. We didn't get to see Rollbar until season 4. I wish they would hurry up and update them. I though the Cliffjumper mold would have worked for the cars and new molds for the other two.

You should check out the 3rd party throttlebots. They can combine too. Also you should get aoe,rotf, alternators rollbar. Great figures

I really enjoy the throttle bots. I'm suprised we've only gotten 2 i think since the originals. Chase (renamed Roadburn), and of course Goldbug. I wish they'd do the rest. there are so many opportunities for it. I wouldn't even mind if they were treated as modern mini bots. meaning they aren't all legend class size. Thanks for showing these off!

As a kid I was given Goldbug and Wide-Load and I'm still a bit salty about that second one as a chubby kid in 1987. These are terrible toys but great (and awful) memories and great characters in the comics!

True fact. Bumblebee was the leader of the Throttlebots of The Return of Optimus Prime part 1. The Throttlebots got hit by the hate plague and Bee help with Kup, Blurr, Blaster, Rewind and Steeljaw and got killed. And now the Throttlebots characters got in different Transformers games, show and movie. Rollbar become a Decepticon a recolor of Swindle in Transformers Robot In Disguise 2001 anime probably the definited version idk Hasbro bring back the Autobot on or Decepticon in Legacy Evolution. And Chase become his own character in a kid show Transformers Rescue Bots he follow the book in Earth stuff and rules and law. Sense the rumor leaks say about Chase fans goes nuts see Chase as a Rescue Bots so yeah that version of Chase we see more. The Combiner Wars used Chase's old colors but named it Roadburn so yeah Roadburn is the new member. Nice work.

I do have two of them Goldbug and Searchlight and some of the Throttlebots did show up in the Return of Optimus Prime part one where Rodimus call a team of Autobots to recuse the body of Optimus.

I remember when my mom, brother and I found all six at K-Mart. $2 each, just sitting in a bin of them. They all still work, but some of the window stickers are peeling and the rub symbols take forever to discolor.

Strange. Issue 30 of Transformers was one of the last issues I bought. They feel like continuations of the Battle Chargers except they looked cool enough in vehicle mode that kids still bought them. The vehicle modes on all of these guys look like arse. :) Good review.

Had all 6 throttlebots hated them only TFs I ever got rid of. They looked more like cheap knock offs than real TF. Even today I just dont collect or want them. But everyone has their likes and dislikes. LOL I also hated the pretenders and action Masters... TFs that dont transform?? What's the point. I could also never see Grimlock pretending to be human seeing how he has a dislike for the weak..

Honestly, I'd rather have stand-in's for their characters, rather than the actual toys. G2 Bumblebee, red white and blue Cliffjumpers, Brawn, and orange Long Haul. The pull-back action is cool, but not that cool.

I never liked these. I love G1 but won't collect these. They are good for desk decorations or to fiddle with if bored at your desk.
