This made me feel a lot better about my current setup. I got the 1tb 4300lite as my main m.2 drive for windows and games with a 20tb wd red pro as my backup storage for anything that doesn't need those insanely fast read/write speeds (like movies/music/pictures etc). I was a little worried when I found out that is has no dram and had friends telling me that was a huge no-no, that I should return it for a samsung 990 or something along those lines but it sounds like ill be just fine. cheers for the review, concise and easy to understand.

Does the drive still hold up today? Planning to buy it and do you have any recommendation at around the same price? Maybe something more reliable from your experience? BTW Cheers for the review

Is the Patriot Viper VP4300 Lite still working well after 9 months?
@GadgetJoe2 ай бұрын
@TheWorstGamerr it is indeed, I use it almost daily in my editing rig and it's never failed me. Still performs just as well as it did on day 1 which I'm pleased to report!

Solid review. Lately I have been prioritising capacity over bandwidth, not sure if that's the right approach, but the really fast, large-ish (4 TB) NVMe drives seem way off the scale in terms of value .... Cheers!
@GadgetJoe11 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yes I completely agree with you, often the 4TB just seems a little unachievable in price. I actually have 2x 2tb drives running which does take up an extra slot but then I have the security of having a backup option if one does fail too. Plus, most newer motherboards often have upto 4 drive slots as standard too.

@@GadgetJoe Fully agree. I'm still using spinning rust for redundancy, at least as long as SATA ports exist, haha. :) Thanks again.

I bought a Patriot VP4300 Lite M.2 SSD and it won't go above 3700mb/s, what could be the reason? Motherboard:: Asrock B550M-HDV Processor: Ryzen 5 5500
@GadgetJoe3 ай бұрын
Hi, the b550m-hdv has a gen 3 nvme port on it so it will only hit maximum speeds capable of a gen 3 drive unfortunately.

Is it ok to install my operating system and all my games and apps there?
@GadgetJoe5 ай бұрын
@carmelodegu yes it would be more than fine to have your os and games on this, in fact I use mine as my editing rig main drive and had no issues to this day 😀

@@GadgetJoe Thanks a lot. I thought I'll have to purchase another ssd with dram for a boot drive.
@celto1073 ай бұрын
I would disagree using this as an OS drive. It has no DRAM which is not good for any modern boot drive. Though using it as a drive for games, etc is still good
