I love this stand. It would be perfect for me to display my selected village pieces. I don’t have the equipment that you do to prepare the wood for assembly. I‘m in my mid 70s so would be hard to do for me. Do you sell finished kits?

Gotta say my wife and I made this for a friend and she loved it. It has been setup in her house for months :) I don't think she is going to take it down LOL. We painted ours white and on the top nub just took an offcut and set another threaded insert in it so there is a "finished" top, and she can hotglue which ever star she wants up there to the top of it... or I am sure she will aske me to make something for it. Great video!

I set up my village for the first time in 6 years this past Christmas and because we have dogs that would annihilate it so we took a dog pen and stretched it out almost like a fence in front of the village and Christmas Tree. we put some garland on it for a festive look and they stayed away and people could go in through a gate.

I built one a few years ago, but cord management is an issue. I'm trying to think of how to make a channel in the tree trunk to run wiring.
@PatriotDIY3 ай бұрын
@@ethanlantz6553 I just drilled a 1" hole near the trunk on each shelf
@ethanlantz65533 ай бұрын
@@PatriotDIY That is what I originally did, but I found the wires got messy and difficult to hide. I'm thinking about routing a channel and wiring it. Dropping the shelves down over the trunk. May be too much.

You can make the shelves any size you want to fit your items. And you could use a regular nut or a T nut in the top shelf instead of the wing nut.

Well, need some practical advice for the village itself. Would you drill small holes around the edge so you can zip tie the garland around it? Also are you planning holes for the cords of each house to feed down to a power supply? As for a spinning version, how do you deal with the electrical cords. The tree is beautiful but not practical until it supports a live village with power.
@PatriotDIY3 ай бұрын
@rbks4345 drill a hole near the trunk on each shelf for power cords....attach your garland however you want (holes, hooks, zip ties). Also if you've ever seen a spinning christmas tree stand, they are designed for the cords to plug into the spinning portion, it's no different than a regular spinning tree with lights

I hate saying anything because I know making videos isn’t an easy thing. Those T-nut are not designed for your application. They will just pull out with any leverage l. T-nuts are meant to be on the opposite side of the material l, so they sandwich the material. A better fastener would be a threaded insert with epoxy. Best of luck!

Why would you upload a video tutorial with issues at the end? Are you for real?
@PatriotDIY Жыл бұрын
What do you mean?? This is my own design, You will not find anything like it or a more professional-looking version anywhere else on the internet! But yes, I showed my entire process including the one design alteration that I made along the way. The only change I made was to use insert nuts instead of T nuts and I Noted that very clearly in bright white and red writing on the screen when I reached that step, I also mentioned it again at the end of the video to clarify. Would you prefer a DIY KZbin channel that pretends every project goes perfectly, or do you want a real person who shows you the good the bad, and the ugly? If the video is not acceptable to you, why don't you buy the plans linked in the description, which gives you the FINAL design.
