I agree that it’s going to be more difficult to hunt the pheasants, since feed zones aren’t as simple as drink zones. My game plan is to try to set up as many tents near feed zones as possible until the bouquet doesn’t have any high levels, and then move on to another zone. Then I can hopefully have my few zones that I consistently try to get respawns in.

Pheasant will be the easier of the 2 since they have large groups, Fox are all in pairs or solos.

I think the proper term is when they're Hunkered Down. Similarly, the proper term for herd management for any of the bird species in the game would be Flock Management.
