The National Institute of Fire Protection and Safety (NIFPS) created this video to deepen your understanding of the propane explosion at Ghent Patrol Station in the USA. Several factors contributed to the incident, including a liquid withdrawal valve that was stuck in the open position, the task being handled by an inexperienced and incompetent worker, improper placement of the propane tank, lack of proper training by Genth volunteer fire staff in handling hazardous materials, and the failure to evacuate the area.
