I was so lucky to be able to visit the Virginia Quilt Museum on 19 July 2016. I enjoy the whole experience, the quilts but also the architecture of the beautiful home it had once been. There was an upcoming exhibit on our National Parks but unfortunately I would already be back in San Diego when it opened. So I took the opportunity (the door to the room was open) to get a sneak peek. There were already many small wall quilts hanging up disspicting several of my favorites NP. They were all absolutely amazing but my favorite was the Everglades of a momma 9 Banded Armadillo and her baby made by Maggie Ward of Virginia. Mom and baby were done in all different laces, the background was batiks and the sky looked like it may have been a hand-died fabric. Simply stunning. I am sad to have missed the whole exhibit but very happy to have gotten a peek.

Your Jelly sizzle quilt belongs on a picnic! Just gorgeous! And thank you for the border instructions. I think it really makes the quilt "sizzle"! Congrats on your new fabric lines.

My Jelly Roll Sizzle top is done, now to get a backing and quilt it, binding... all by the 25th of April. My Quilt group is gathering quilts for Ukraine and my sister and I will be delivering them to Quilted Twins here in Florida. ROAD TRIP with my sister to a Quilt shop, what could be more fun! We've made 8 baby quilts so far, and have collected at least 20 from our group. I am so thrilled at the generosity of these lovely and loving ladies. We meet on Thursdays at the local community center and I hang my Quilters Stand For Ukraine door hanging outside the room. I'm planning on taking a photo of the members and donated quilts next week and will post it on Pat's website. Pat, LOVE those bunny peeps! soooo cute !!

Pat, for the last few days I thought I could hear birds in the background of your video and wondered if it was warm enough there to have the windows open. Today, when you had to shut the window because of the lawn mower, I knew I was right. Lucky you! I awoke to once again snow covered ground. I can't wait until we can open windows! Happy Easter!

For your extra HSTs, how about a Pinwheel pillow to match your quilt? You'll have scrappy pinwheels and some can be less scrappy with the border HSTs. Pinwheels are my go to for my piles of cut-off HSTs.. Happy Easter to you and Gregg.

I love your sizzle quilt. Pretty colors. Mine became a baby quilt. I have a second niece whose pregnant. My sister-in-law is getting a new granddaughter & and a month later, her first great granddaughter. They both needed quilts, of course. Great idea to use this pattern for charity quilts. Congratulations on the new fabric lines. So pretty.

The Endangered Species exhibit was at Bulloch Hall in Roswell, GA pre pandemic and I was lucky enough to see it. I also purchased the companion book, which resides on my coffee table. Same story for the National Parks exhibit, also coordinated by Donna DeSoto; one was in '18, the other in '19. Bullock Hall was the childhood home of Teddy Roosevelt's mother and Teddy Roosevelt started the national parks system. Both exhibits were extraordinary!

Pat, the person you mentioned looking for quilts for her brother's extended family - you mentioned she is across the country from you. The Fabric Patch in Ephrata, Washington is making quilts and also to make money to help establish refugees are selling and auctioning some. My home town, Soap Lake, Washington has become a huge Ukrainian community and Ephrata is the next door town so Cindi Rang and her daughter Brianna, owners of the Fabric Patch are very aware and getting their quilting community involved. They might be able to help the family that reached out to you from a closer vicinity.
