she was not a 'country" singer, though many arrangements were countryish, she nevetheless sang more standards than country songs---given a jazzier arrangement she could have been an immortal jazz singer. she not only had one of the most beautiful voices to ever grace a recording. she was one of the most emotive and passionate interpreters there have ever been and when she singers a dagger is thrust into the heart of the listener.
