Would it be possible to explain why you continue to pay your monthly rent for a Bar which isn’t worth opening and may be like this for a very long time ? Did you pay a huge upfront amount for the lease so are hoping to ride out the storm ? If not then surely you are better stopping throwing good money after bad and instead handing the keys back in and flying back to the UK assuming you aren’t tied down in Thailand through family commitments ?

Nope. Not overreacting. Thailand and others did what they should've done. The US where im from waisted precious time and should've locked down harder much earlier and we could've been in the clear by now. Overall the lock downs as sad as they are for businesses were and are worth it. People don't realize how many people would've died otherwise. Fast Forward to 2019 a fit girl wanted 2000baht Short time, that's $100aud for an hour or two, so that's 33× more expensive. Money saved on pay 4 play used to pay for your trip! The Philippines is already cheaper than Thailand is so many ways. Add to that the fact that far more people in the Philippines speak English than in Thailand and the Philippines has a much better chance of surviving in the near future than Thailand.

@@markp9568 Infrastructure is probably the one area where Thailand has an advantage. Bangkok has far better transportation, buildings, shopping etc than Manila. Pattaya is cleaner with better tourist areas than towns such Cebu or Davao.

Damn it Nick, that was harsh viewing, had some great craic in quite a few of those bars over the years. Hopefully a viable vaccine will be ready soon which will mean I can go out 3 times next year to make up for this year. Fingers, toes crossed. 🤞🤞

For me its not so much that most places are closed. Moreso its the fact that the places open have ZERO customers.

Perhaps the biggest tragedy is walking Soi 6,7 & 8 not being able to hear the WAP wrap/song playing loudly with the bar girls doing their thing LOL.

Love your videos nick. Im in Australia and once can travel without quarantine I will be over. Have many great memories of soi 7 and 8 so sad to see it like this breaks my heart to see thailand strugle during this time but everyone still seems to smile and just try to do the best they can goes to show how wonderful thai ppl are. I do think once tourists are back soi 7 and and will have a decent amount of business sure maybe it wont be packed but I think it will bounce back and we can all make new memories of it again. Hopfully it can start to happen soon fingers crossed for jan or feb no quarantine

Very informative video but very very sad to see. Been coming to thailand for 25 years and retired there 6 years ago. IF travel opens up, it will take years if ever for thailand to get back to what it used to be. Thailand is expensive compared to many many places

With vaccines in a few weeks hopefully the border opens up to those vaccinated w/o the quarantine. I think it'll happen, just will it be in time? Planning my trip for April 2021, but it might not be feasible until summer 2021.

I think any area can recover but the bars need to work together to come up with a marketing plan of their own to make a particular soi appealing. I look as an example to Las Vegas. For those that can remember downtown Las Vegas was a mess until they came up with a cool idea to make it a hip and fun place to go to with an incredible light display and amazing deals. Whether it's soi seven soi eight or soi pot hole this is what needs to happen in my opinion of course. I always thought walking Street should emulate the Las Vegas concept as well for example the walking street sign should always be lit and incredibly dynamic. All of the bars on the main drag should be required to have impressive lighting to make walking straight more appealing. Thoughts?

Great Video as always Nick keep up the good work. As I see it now that there is a western approved vaccine available. I believe countries like Thailand and others are going to wait until they get a certain level of their population vaccinated before they fully open up to international tourism, maybe 60 to 90% of their population vaccinated before they fully open up. Given the logistics of manufacturing enough and distributing enough of the vaccine to their population this probably wont happen until the start of 2022. They may in the fall of 2021 begin some miner opening to intentional tourist who can show proof of vaccination. Just my thoughts. Cant wait to return have many happy memories of Thailand.
