Thank you for supporting the elephants and animals by going to one of these santuaries & not riding on them and NO HOOK. I wish more tourists to Pattaya would do that. I've gone to ENP in Chiang Mai and it was such an experience.

See that ear grabbing he does to make the elephant splash water? That’s done typically with a nail as it’s a sensitive pressure point used to teach the elephant to do tricks originally through pain, and then through fear compliance. A lot of so called “ethical” parks do similar things to enhance the tourist experience. That said, there certainly seems to be plenty of room and natural habitat which offers a far better life than they would otherwise have had. The only truly “ethical” elephant sanctuaries are those that do not allow any contact with tourists but at least this one and those like it are a massive improvement on those where elephants are chained up for long periods or forced to perform rides and tricks. The sanctuary is not perfect but worthy of support in my view because it is by far the lesser of two evils and facilitates a reasonably decent level of respect and dignity to the elephants. Thank you for the comprehensive video.

Thank you for letting us know, now that we see that, we have left a note to the guide. Learning more and more each day. Yes it is indeed the lesser of two evils, and at least more are aware and not riding elephants. The elephants there do truly roam free and are not chained. After the interaction the elephants go about their day wandering into the forest nearby. And we even spotted the young one playing with monkeys ard the area. It was a sight to behold.

@@CatandKenneth yes, it’s a far better life than they previously had for sure, and ethical treatment has come a long way in the last 20 years. It can now be a successful business model. A long way to go but raising awareness has worked well since the advent of the internet and no doubt the future is brighter.
