Hello Geoff. Since 2017 and by your recommendation, I have been using Mana's shop to rent a motorbike every time I've been on holiday in Pattaya I've never had a problem with the reliability of the motorbikes and he always gives a good price. I'm on countdown now, back again in November! International driving licences from the UK are now valid for 3 years and only £5.50! That will keep the boys in brown off your case! :) Ride safe!

Nice one Geoff..good place to hire a bike...he's been there for years Notice that he asked for your licence and passport and told you only needed a copy of your passport... Never leave your passport with anyone except yourself..copies only Enjoy your time with the bike and stay safe... No chang di di changs when riding the bike and always wear your lid..

I found this particular scooter rental, very friendly, but quite a bit more expensive than others in the immediate area. In the end I saved nearly a 1000 baht over a week's rental, which was the cost of my room per night.This was last June which is low season, so I thought he'd have done a deal.

Good to get recommendations for hiring bikes and stuff cuz not all hire-shops can be trusted. So thanks for this info. What follows is hearsay (could be just Urban-Legend) and not personal experience so could be BS but may be worth recounting. Don't know if it still happens but have often been told that some would hire you a motorbike and might even hold your physical passport, as well as your credit card details. Because they had the address you were staying and spare keys for the bike, it was easy for them to "steal" the bike overnight and you were the one who had to pay for it cuz the insurance only covered for accidents, not theft. I was advised they could then ship that bike to a sister business elsewhere or simply change the plates on it from an older and knackered or write-off bike of same make and model. Whether true or not, best to be careful who you hire from. If the cost of something looks too good to be true, it very well may be.

I have been told you need to have an actual motorbike licence to be legally riding a motorbike in Thailand, not just a car driving licence? I don't know for certain, but it is something I personally would check. Safe travels.
