Marshall Dry Goods has amazing cottons at great prices, anyone can buy wholesale from them, wholesale is cheaper than buying their by the yard retail prices. They have some amazing vintage reprints, the cotton is top quality

I really appreciate your style and aesthetic in your makes as well as how you present your photos! Nicely done! Moda Fabric is a very nice quality quilters cotton with tons of designers...a bit on the heavier weighted side, but quality. I agree that Hawthorne Supply Co. has some great stuff too!

Yes those are both lovely and thank you for the nice compliments!!!

I love some quilting cottons, and depends on the pattern too... some defiantly have more drape, like art gallery is lighter weight quilting cotton and seems a finer weave, but sometimes cutting on the bias can make a quilting cotton work for some patterns too... cotton and steel is another one with similar weight to art gallery. Free spirit is nice but a little heavier... maybe an ounce more but also works for many tops, dresses etc.

Oh I love love cotton and steel! It’s so lovely and I haven’t tried free spirit! Yes I think art gallery is very light and so lovely to work with❤️

I am in love with the top you're wearing!!! 🥰 I play with my fabric and patterns like that too! I call it playing rather than planning because I switch everything around so many times before I finally decide and actually sew it up! 😂

Haha thank you and I completely and totally know what you mean! I am so spontaneous with sewing and it’s so fun to be that way!

Quilting Cottons are gorgeous, easy to sew, and make beautiful and indestructible garments, especially skirts. One of the major problems with "garment fabrics" is that they are so flimsy, can't stand up to frequent washing, and are difficult to sew. Quilting cottons solve all these problems.

I’m gonna need you to continue on this path!! I have been loosing sleep on how to use the very large stash of beautiful quilting cottons. I want to create clothing that is amazing and not “oh you made that” ... and you can tell maybe you’ve missed the mark!! Also I need patterns that can be blocked with two cottons combined. Apparently when I bought two tons of QC I thought one yard was enough 🤦♀️. That sagebrush is on my list !!

Christa Boudreaux haha that is amazing! I will be actually doing a color-blocked video soon! It’s in the works!!! Also keep going with your quilting cottons! They can be so quite paired with other cottons!

I wasn't clear on what you meant (around 7:30 mark) -- are you looking for more stores that sell quilting cotton or looking for pattern recommendations to use quilting cotton with?
@victorialucilleanne54834 жыл бұрын
Spitefinger other brands of quilting cotton that are great quality!!! But if you have suggestions for anything else too then go for it!!!

@@victorialucilleanne5483 You already know about Hawthorne Threads, which is hard to beat! (Wanting to wear Halloween-themed clothes is what really got me into learning how to sew -- hard to find fun witch themes on anything outside of quilting cotton, y'know? You have your flowers, I have my witches and black cats, ha!) A few other stores I like to swing by to check their inventory: ConnectingThreads.com, HartsFabrics.com, FabricWorm.com, FatQuarterShop.com, and Bloomeriefabrics.com. For patterns that are quilting cotton-friendly: 1) Charm Patterns Rita peasant blouse (doesn't specify QC, but many fans have made it with QC). 2) Jalie.com - #3130 (women button-up shirt that has front and back darts to give it a wonderful shape -- this is my personal favorite button-up shirt of all time) and #3882 (Elaine scrub top - great way to break up panels). 3) Liesl + Co. (same designer who does Lisette for Butterick) - has quite a few patterns that specifically list quilting cotton as an option. Take a look at Gelato blouse (ruffles!), Terrace dress, Cinema dress (has panels), for starters. The Montauk Trousers also list QC, but I don't own that one, fyi. 4) Fancy Tiger Craft's Cordyline Top - I don't own this yet, but I like the gathers around the neck and the shape looks friendly for my apple-shaped mom (she wears this style often). Holding out for a sale! Thanks for your pattern recommendations. I'm always looking for QC-friendly tops so I can dress up for Halloween without actually wearing a costume.

Two of my favorite quilting cotton designers are Alexander Henry (wild prints) and Kaffe Fassett/Philip Jacobs (big bold prints in wild colors that somehow work together - especially the florals). I love your version of the Sagebrush!

Shelley Cassky oh my goodness thank you! I have seen the Alexander Henry fabrics before and love them! I will screenshot this so I can look it up later!!

Hmmm. I’ve never tried quilting cotton. I have a lot of poplins and lawns. The lotte blouse is an off the shoulder pattern but can it be worn comfortably on the shoulders? I really like but I would never wear it off the shoulders.
@victorialucilleanne54834 жыл бұрын
I’m Sew Blessed yes!! I wear it on the shoulder and it is the lotte blouse hack with a little drawstring made from the fabric...it’s on her blog! I think all quilting cottons are not really the same but I have worked with some really nice ones!

45 in and ironing?
@victorialucilleanne54834 жыл бұрын
I don’t mind the 45 inches! I just have to remember that it is that wide and order enough!! I find it is cheaper cost fabric for the most part so I don’t mind! I also mostly don’t iron them! The shirt I am wearing was not ironed. I am used to linen which is way way worse with the wrinkles haha! I don’t sew with too much polyester but I do find that is the one fabric that REALLY doesn’t wrinkle and that is fantastic!
