I have a Babylock serger/ coverstitch combo. Love, love, ,love it.! 💕 I highly recommend it. The stitches are fantastic, the ease of use and threading is remarkable. I’m in my late 50’s , it’s my first serger I got 2 years ago and it was easy to learn to thread and operate. Such a joy to use. 😊

Johanna you are absolutely correct about taking measurements from existing clothes that one likes the fit of...I also make a muslin of any new pattern so I can make adjustments in fit & then use the muslin as my pattern....

I’m beginning to like my Brother 2340 cv. Works fine since I have learned to control the speed. I don’t have any problems with adjustment. Got brave and did my first single chain stitch today. Looks great.

I love my Brother double cover coverstitch machine but I will agree with you: It is a bit "fiddly" (as you said) to get it stitching to my satisfaction. Sewing stretchy knits can be a challenge to some but I learned that most problems can be avoided if you stabilize on both top an bottom of the project; sometimes I may decrease my presser-foot pressure if I am getting a great deal of stretch. I love your videos, Johanna and I own all of your books (so far 😊).

Wonderful tutorial. Very helpful info on the cover stitch machines. It is a big price item......not one that you make a quick decision about! The pattern storage rack.......yes it’s great.....I’m going to research to find one. Most times I go to the hardware store and just browse at what storage systems they have and how can I adapt them for my needs. As always ....a lot of valuable info and and I do appreciate you so much for the time you take to create and share here on your channel. 🥰

I have a Janome 2000, welll i am an enthusiast in making my own clothes. For my t shirts, embroidery with the looper ( i also do medium-weight-canvas bags with looper embroidery, for me looks nice), hems. For personal purposes and small bussiness, so far so good.

I love my BabyLock serger, but if anyone isn’t sure how much it would be used, start with something less expensive. You can always trade up.

I have watched all of your videos and have your coverstitch book and I have finally ventured out to use my coverstitch without success and hoping you can help me determine what I am doing wrong. I have the machine set up for a 2 thread narrow coverstitch and it looks good on the front but the back looks like two rows of chainstitch do you know what I am doing wrong?

I am taking an online pattern making class with Alexandra Morgan. She goes into a lot more detail than other classes would do, like truing up and balancing the pattern and fitting it and sewing it up.

Question Please I have Cover Pro 2000 coverstitch machine. I ordered the double binding foot from Ali Express. Unfortunately the attachment does not get close enough the holes to attach without it covering the foot that would allow me to use it. Can you tell me where to get the little base plate that seems to be used with the Janome foot.? Can I send you picture of what it looks like.

Like my Babylock Coverstitch. Took some learning though. I use Sure Fit Designs for pattern drafting. She has over 200 videos on how to draft for your particular fitting issue.

Nice tips. About patter making. I can highly recommend any course from Alexandra Morgan from In House Patterns (Studio). Just finished her 8 week intensive online Fitting Essentials course. In that you learn how to adjust existing patterns into a highly personalized pattern to fit you like a glove. She also has online self-paced courses on drafting a woven and a knit fabric bodice block and sleeve pattern. Where other classes often stop at the drafting, Alexandra teaches you how to fit it and adjust it. Like you already mention you cannot get a perfect fit from only drafting from your measurements. You still need to refine the fit after the first draft by fitting a sample and then transfer the fitting adjustment back to your block. Once you have the block the fun of designing can begin. 💕

Can I get some advice on how to work with Knits? I would love a class, or online instruction. I have the MCS1500 and just want to be better at working with knits! Thanks!
@richyjames13783 жыл бұрын
i hate a zigzag stitch for knits, i have all industrial machines and i only ever use a straight stitch, ya just stretch it while you sew and it doesnt pop. all clothes that are bought will never have a zigzag stitch on them

The Janome coverstitch has really bad reputation, for sure skipping stitches on every project….was recommended de Babylock coverstichmachine by different professionals and i am glad i bought it.
