THE DRESS!!! 🤩🤩🤩 Sorry, Calvin, but that is totally what that dress is meant to be! Looks amazing on you, with and without the godets. And the top is so cute as well! What a great summer staple, plus probably cute under a cropped cardigan. Great flips, Casey! Now I want to go thrifting…

Loved this video. Now, I see what I could have done with those dresses that I gave to charity. Oh well, doesn’t matter. Someone will like them as is. Now, to redo a large baggy linen blouse into something I can wear. It was a clearance sale. Beautiful fabric. Edit: I like all your re-dos. They suit you much better.

@retroredo98505 ай бұрын
2nd video after I subscribed. Watched your video about making an folding ironing pad. One thing I learned over 5 decades of sewing and doing alterations as my body type yonung and now old is always estimate up an inch. I do a lot of empire seam alterations to many tops. One I;m short so shortening at waist or empire line is so much easier than trying to hem a knit. I learned on a straight stitch only Singer. I learned to add at least one inch even if you include a seam allowance and especially a top that has sleeves ADD an INCH for raising your arms! If you need length, as I usually attach bottom and back together for an elastic casing, an adjustment can be made by not making both sides a one inch seam allowance. You can attach with one folded for that. Wiggle room! Also no matter what happens below the but line like with sleeeves I only work on the fit to the armhole. In my older age I dont show my bat wings so often making lace sleeves to replace tshirt cap sleeves. I only trace the cap and leave the sleeve square which when worn like that is a slight bell. I decide after top is done if tapering it, gatherng it, gathering with ruffle and so on.

I love to sew and love to repurpose stuff. The flowery fabric reminded me of a DOLCE & GABBANA dress I saw, which was ruched on the sides all the way down. Form fitting but the ruching makes it seem less tight…. Haha. Your redo looks very pretty! I would do a slit on the sides of the maxi dress just for movability. Leaving it maxi adds versatility to your wardrobe!! Lots of very casual “every day” maxis out there! You do such a great job!! Bravo! Consider doing a lil modeling on the side! ❤️👵🏻

I just discovered your page and am obsessed! I recently broke out my brother sewing machine I have from when I was a kid that I used in a quilt making class with my grandma. My intention is to start altering and making my own clothes! I struggle so much with shopping because of my curvier figure and just come to realize i just need to make my own or at least start to alter what I already have to fit me better so I don’t look like a garbage bag in all my clothes lol. Im obsessed with your style and can’t wait to get started! I feel like we have similar body types (I recently lost 40lbs) accept I have a large bust. I really want to figure out a way to make tops dresses etc where I don’t have to wear a bra! I’ve always been insecure about my breasts and always hid them. We’ll hide no more! I want to be able to show a little something in a tasteful way while still being comfortable! I would love to see a video on how to provide maximum support in tops and dresses where I don’t have to where a bra. I’m 28 and want to start dressing like hahah. Would love to see a corset top too! I feel like they’re super in right now.

hi scout! I know that paralyzing fearful moment before cutting a flip. I’ve been lugging around two pairs of leggings that I want to turn into looooong over the heel yoga leggings. and I just put them on the work surface and put them away again. I’m so scared to mess them up. if I mess them up then I’ll have 0 leggings and at that point I can’t even donate them the method I’m thinking is to cut the legging at a diagonal, then insert fabric from the second pair of leggings and that’ll give me the length to go from high water leggings to looong long leggings. all your flips look really good in the end, favorite was the jeans 👖

You're inspiring me! I went to a Thrift shop last week and bought a beautiful stretch lace dress - stained, and far too small. I cut it up for the stretch lace which was beautiful (ironically a Ralph Lauren too!) and have attached it to the yokes on my front and sleeves of my Fraser sweat shirt. I've been making up some UPF clothing for the summer (I'd highly recommend making up a few poncho/cover ups in UPF fabric for your next trip to the beach to wear over top of your lovely new sundress and tank!) because they are incredibly $$$ to buy and rather uninteresting as well. Loved your flips! They look gorgeous on you.

Very nice! I actually think that the fit of the long dress might be better WITH the godets than it would have been if you had just tapered it out initially. There’s something about the grain of the fabric, or maybe the structure added by the extra seams for the godets, but I think it is actually an even better result because of the godets. Just lovely!

@@PatternScout Agreed. On the other hand, I have cut out two pretty skirts from two dresses with tops didn't fit me well.
