Small world, bumping into Deborah couple of weeks ago at a rally in Perth 😊… along with a friend who has done videography with Joel Richardson across Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Israel … it was special to see two people who don’t know each other yet connected 😊

I believe that they have found Lot's cave in the area of Safi Jordan, along the south east shore of the Dead Sea. You can find it on Google map. Also the Madaba map shows the location of Zoar, which corresponds to the location of Lot's cave.

Yes, they have made many good videos, which I have watched. As for the location of the city in question, I don't think it could possibly be where the Dead Sea is, since the salt would have *had to be there* back in that time. The salt and salt water had to have been there, because it has to come from seawater, or very slowly from minerals in the rocks. And, if anything, the Dead Sea was bigger back then, since the rainfall was more plentiful back then.

Hello all! Thank you guys so much for the comments and dialogue on this video. To some who have been asking or brought this up, we do plan on doing a Tall el-Hammam related episode with a scholar who advocates for that site after the 2nd episode with Dr. Hurn is complete. This series is meant to cover various viewpoints on the location of Sodom and then leave it up to the viewer to decide which location they feel has the best evidence. We hope to do this episode with Dr. Steven Collins, himself, but may do it with another scholar/archaeologist depending on who is available. We've also recorded episodes with Ross Patterson on Ron Wyatt's proposed location. Because this series is a part of our Patterns+ subscription platform, the video versions of the other episodes will be released on Patterns+, whereas audio-only versions of those episodes will be release here on KZbin.

Ezekiel speaks of left and right (like Avraham, Gen 13). Left of Bethel and Ai was Samaria, to the right was Sodom. The evidence allows for Tell-el-Hamam to be a possible location of ancient Sodom.

The problem with Dr. Collins' identification of Tel El Hammam as Sodom in Jordan is not the geographical location. That location is given in Genesis and easily verified. When Abram and Lot parted, he was at Beth-el and Hai or Ai. Lot looked East, over the valley of the Jordan. The valley of the Jordan Plain or Kikar is located north of the Dead Sea, and was fertile. The Jordan River ends at the Dead Sea. If you acknowledge the text, the valley of the Jordan has to be north of the Dead Sea. The problem here is the timeline, just as the problem with the Exodus is not evidence, but time line. Dr. Collins has excellent archaeological evidence of the destruction of Sodom by an enormous blast creating both heat and over pressure very similar to a nuclear explosion in the form of an air burst (attributed to a meteoric air burst) which created heat enough to glaze mudbricks and exposed wattle and daub roof material along with pottery shards. However, his timeline is off by several hundred years. He gives the Biblical records geographical accuracy but fails to rely on the same historical records for the timeline, instead of trusting in the man-made dating methods. And, no, sacking the city at Tel El Hammam would not have resulted in the evidence displayed in its destruction. To get the types of melting displayed by the bricks and pottery at the site, burn temperatures would have to exceeded 20,000 degrees centigrade. Along with this extreme temperature is the blast wave, which leveled the city and blew down the walls. The destruction is directional. That doesn't occur in a sack. It also included all the other cities of the plains except Zoar. All this matches the Eye Witness description of Sodom's destruction. The evidence is there, but Dr. Collins places it in the wrong time. Move the date back about 250 years and suddenly it matches.

Have you read Maria Valtorta's _The Poem of the Man God (The Gospel as it was revealed to me)?_ A Canadian university Anthropology department, has allowed its PhD students to investigate it in its dissertarions, with astounding results. And it is nothing less than amazing, how her descriptions have allowed many scholars to locate and explain remains and customs in Jesus Christ's time, in an illuminating, reasonable and striking way: Dozens of scholars around the world, in different countries and scientific fields, have proven Maria Valtorta's account right, even where it seemed not to. Even her descriptions of the skies (meteorology, stars, planets, etc.) have allowed to date episodes in the Gospel with great accuracy (Liberato de Caro's 4 books developing a modern, scientific, astronomical analysis of the full 10 Valtorta's volumes). *And Maria Valtorta locates Sodom and Gomorre close to Enggedi, but submerged.*

The four northern kings include Hammaurabi as Amraphel. His reign was 1765-1722 BC. This was a bit early for Moses to be at Pi-Rameses. But all wrong for 1 Kings 6:1. As for the location of Sodom there are a number of 19th century maps that name the hills at the southwest corner of the northern lobe of the Dead Sea as "Usdum", "Khash Usdum" and "Gebel Usdum". This would indicate it may be underwater near there. The hills are about 11 km south of En-gedi

Dr. Steven Collins has been digging Tall El-Hammam for over 16 years. There are strong geographical markers that point to this dig as the true location of Sodom and Gomorrah. The biblical narrative point to this area in Jordan.
@dawsonindustries2 ай бұрын
It doesn’t matter how long one digs. A place either matches or not. The geography, topography, geo-morphology, archaeology, and history do not match the Biblical criteria.

It all, as this video briefly shows some, that it goes against the established evidence. It contradicts it. A lot of his claims about it have also been proven false or at least unlikely. No meditate airstrike destroyed it in the MBII period like he theorized.

@@dawsonindustries Yes they do! Biblical geographical indicators of Sodom. Genesis chapter 13, where the bible gives us the geographical indicators of the whereabouts of Sodom and her five fortified city state. And he [Abraham] went on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, *between Bethel and Hai* {Genesis 13:3} ... And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all *the plain of Jordan* that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar. Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and *Lot journeyed east* and they separated themselves the one from the other. {Genesis 13:10-11} (The same location, east from Bethel and Hai, is...Modern day Tall el-Hammam, Jordan. Moses and the Israelites would setup camp on the ruins of Sodom, before crossing *the Jordan River* into The promise land.) And they removed from Almondiblathaim, and pitched in the mountains of Abarim, before Nebo. And they departed from the mountains of Abarim, and pitched in *the plains of Moab* by Jordan near (on the east side of the Jordan River, across from) Jericho. And they pitched by Jordan, from Bethjesimoth [house of the desolation / upper city] even unto Abelshittim [lower city] in the plains of Moab. {Numbers 33:47-49} Tell el-Hammam is modern day Sodom. The inner city, comprising the upper and lower, which combined is approximately 64 acres (more than ten times that of Jericho) behind the massive walls, towers, and gate system, (Lot sat in the gate of Sodom) buttressed by a sloped mud brick rampart (another separating the upper and the lower city) covered with a plaster glacis. According to the chronology of biblical events the Exodus occurred 1606 BC. Abraham's lifetime lasted from 2111 until 1936 BC. How does this not match?
@columba32112 ай бұрын
According to a lot of experts this date is 1456 BC, the line of Ahmose, Tothmes I-II-III, Hatsepsut, Senmut , II. Amenhotep, IV. Tothmes, etc. Lots of circumstantial evidence show this is the correct timeframe.
@Morewecanthink2 ай бұрын
@@columba3211 - The biblical date is 1606 BC. 1456 BC is dependent on considerations outside the biblical text. The unreliable egyptian chronologies are not a valid orientation for adjusting God's Word but the other way around is. I’m sorry but this lady is incorrect, read Genesis 13:10-11. It states Abram and Lot were on a mountain between Bethel and AI (directly north of Jerusalem) and Lot chose the plain of Jordan to be his domain. That is the Jordan valley or to the NORTH of the Dead Sea. Genesis then states Lot went EAST and pitched his tent as far as Sodom. Tel El Hammam is at the far end of the Jordan valley and is totally in line with Genesis 13. I find it rather amusing that this lady supposedly has a PHD in Biblical Geography and doesn’t seem to know which direction East is from Bethel. Oh well modern education for you! 🤷🏼♂️
