People complain that it's "too bland" or whatever but this is EXACTLY what we need from Anna. She's a fierce optimist and her songs show that, this however almost counteracts that attitude about her and shows that vulnerability we may feel when something doesn't go the way we imagined. As an optimist I can relate entirely to that feeling! I love this song a lot and it's beautifully written and exactly what we needed to show Anna's feelings during the scene. Also Patti is an incredible Anna! Hope to see it someday!

Nah, They said this is the climax of Anna's journey. Hence, This song must be the epitome of her adventure. But instead of an emotional forceful song , we get this cookie cutter drama song. Your argument is so wrong.

This song is performed when Anna is at her most vulnerable. Hans has told her "if only there was someone out there who loved you"... during the scene in the film where Anna is huddled over on the floor, left to freeze. We're not going to get a power ballad 'Monster' type song because Anna doesn't have enough power to even attempt that. She's left feeling cold and alone. Anna's journey starts off powerful but by the end she's left feeling at her worst. Anna doesn't have fight left in her at this point, she's practically forced to give up. Therefore, I feel like this song expresses Anna's feelings in this exact moment perfectly well.

Ellie Mehaffy Your'e wrong. Because vulnerability is widely used to express emotions effectively. Its the point where audience connect to the character the most. Its in your vulnerability where you can push your emotions out. This is song so monotone and doesn't bring the emotion we should relate with.

I relate entirely with Anna in this song, which is a point I made in my original comment. A song doesn't need to be forceful for emotions to be shown and you can look at a variety of other musicals to see that. I think this song shows the emotions perfectly, and sometimes less is more. I guess we can agree to disagree.

Despite what others say, I really like this. Anna is meant to be a bold and bright character, but the gentle contrast of this song works - it's like an "Okay, stop, let's actually think this through." Really beautiful stuff.

I just connected the “I was looking for a fairytale and dove head first into his” line from this and Kristoff’s line from What Do You Know About Love that says “Anyone who jumps headlong is gonna bang their head” and it makes it even sadder. These songs are so well written. Can’t wait for the whole soundtrack!

sus817 Even though this is one year after, here’s one more in Love is an Open Door and Kristoff’s Lullaby: Love is an Open door’s lyric is: All my life has been a series of doors in my face, but then suddenly *i bumped in to you* Kristoff’s Lullaby has a lyric along the lines of: I thought I was strong, but all of that changed when *I bumped into you* I mean the writers could’ve put “met you” or “saw you”, but they (probably) purposely used “bumped into you”

*spoiler alert for Frozen on Broadway* For anyone who wants the context of this song: It takes place directly after Hans says "Oh Anna, if only someone out there loved you", he extinguishes the fireplace and locks her in the room to freeze. (the lyrics kinda explain it, but there are a few ways the song could be interpreted 😊) Because it's still in previews, this might change but that's where the song fell when I saw the show! ❄️
