As someone who has lived in multiple countries on multiple continents. Even in different cities and different states. I became very nostalgic for the feeling one gets of familiarity when returning to a city or town after a long absence. Like a warm hug from an old friend. 🤗🤜🤛🤙 Thank you and your wonderful storytelling. 👍

Man, I am loving this series!! As a South African, it inspires me to explore our beautiful country even more! And very excited to see this 500k old 4x4 conquer many roads and even more km's.

As a result of this channel, we had the chance to seek out and have a consultation with Paul Marsh. It was worth every cent. He helped to orientate our thinking, our aspirations and our goals as we start to think seriously about building an overland vehicle in South Africa. 🇿🇦

Drove that stretch of the N2 from George last year. Not sure why you felt endangered.

Probably because he was going much slower than the other traffic. I don't like doing it, but I just keep an eye on my rear view mirror, and as soon as I see one of those high speed aggressive drivers approaching, I move over into the yellow lane area. Just for my own safety and sanity, because they'll overtake you on solid white lines in the face of oncoming traffic, and if there's a head on collision, you'll be crashing into it as well. Better to swallow your pride than get involved in a road rage attack. Nothing gets me more agitated than them tailgating me with inches to spare. Driving in South Africa is not fun anymore.

That piece on Kalk Bay brings back memories for me, I agree that it is indeed a special place. Indeed, the Cape Peninsula is a special place. Spent time in Muizenberg just up the road back in the 80's.

There's nothing wrong with the road, it's in an excellent condition. It's the aggressive South African drivers that makes it a horrible and life threatening experience.

Did you say in an earlier video that the Troopy cost $25,000 US for a 25+ year old with 500k km’s on it. Toyotas the world over really retain resale value.

Strictly speaking Kalk Bay lies on the Atlantic Ocean, since the southern-most tip of Africa is Cape Agulhas, which is where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet. A good look at the map is necessary.
