Yes, this is the version I remember hearing on the radio. Later on he recorded a different version which wasn't as good. Why do musicians re-record songs? The original version is ALWAYS better.

Maybe it's because it's the first one we heard, but I also prefer this version

Very Good Question, There are cases where they would record another take for another company. Same instrumental track. Paul Anka did that with Budha label. Now there are other cases where the 45 Promo Copy is a different vocal take. In attempts to sell better. Now with this song by Paul Anka he recorded it again. Totally different recording On the United Artists label for his 1974 album Anka. Now to answer your question as precise as I can, They probably thought the style of this 1973 Single Version did not fit the vibe & sound of the album they were going for.

@@remasteredgems749 True, plus this version was originally recorded and released by Fame Records, maybe United Artists was reluctant to include a song by another label in one of their albums

@@ZeusTheTornado They wanted a totally different product to match the rest of the 1974 Anka Album. I've looked high and low never seen a CD Release for this 1973 Single Version.

Very rare, beautiful song. Another challenge: do you also have the recording of "You're Looking at Me"? 1963.

Sounds a lot like his song 'PAPA'.

It sounds good, but I think it sounds a little slow
